Hello!
So I'm planning a road trip with a mate of mine from med school in June. We're flying into Austin with plans to hit up Dallas, Oklahoma (somewhere), Memphis, New Orleans, San Antonio and then back to Austin to fly out. Is there anything as a local gem or just 100% must do that anyone can recommend? I am also taking advice on bars to visit, places to stay, etc. If you happen to want to cross paths while out there I am happy to try and coordinate something via PM!

We have plans to go to New Orleans... I want to go for the food, drinks, and music. Thinking of a river cruise, but they're pricey.
You should go to Nashville.
The only place on your list that we have actually been to is San Antonio. Stay at the Mansion Del Rio on the Riverwalk and see The Alamo. By state law, no building can cast a shadow on the Alamo. Next time swing into Las Vegas... it's my city... yeah... it's mine.

For New Orleans I’d say Bourbon street! Depends on how much debauchery you guys plan on getting into.
My mate is planning to fully abuse any interest from the ladies he can get from his British accent. What can I say... we're young, male, single and can certainly sound like extras from Downton abbey if needed.
Food Tour, all those cities offer something unique, the south has great BBQ and Seafood.
I've already got a couple of brisket spots for Austin and am keen to find some good seafood in particular in the New Orleans stretch! Any places you'd particularly recomend?

Vegas is definitely on the bucket list... but an extra 40 hours of driving probably isn't for this trip! I'll keep that in mind though!

Nashville was mentioned, great city- we have been there a couple of times and had a very good time each visit. also, and i don't know how close you will be -perhaps to far, but Mammoth caves area is a must see, it is pretty far north from the area you described however.
