This alliance feels like a glorified high school sport team that went on to win state.

 

By that I mean, I remembered this being "popping" not having enough time to catch up, though having all the time in the world. We would get our butts kicked in wars, but we banded together and created a fearsome alliance.

 

Now with even a little bit of time, catching up on the forums, and even discord is easy.

 

As life goes on which is okay and  Even though I missed the mafia games, the wars, and the bickering/bonding you did with some people. I would give a little update of myself.

 

The overall hope would be just a check in, see how we are all doing. Give as much as wanted, no template here.

 

Starting with me.

 

I started playing this game in my early twenties, single, and going to college with different jobs every year. College provided a lot of work, which didn't mean I spent my time doing it. I often would do a little studying, but then hoped on and update the EIEIO page, read up on mafia, and find other ways to kill time on here versus school work. The options to do so were plentiful.

 

A decade and some years ago I was working a very boring security job during the graveyard hours. I was running out of things to do. I stumbled upon a website called Cybernations, I created a nation, and got 3 invites right away. Some how I choose IRON, probably because of the kick ass forums. The rest of my previous years would be filled by completing college, not finding a career in my area, finding a girl, getting married, finding a career path not in my area, but something I love, moving, having a kid, moving, having a kid, not moving and having one more kid in June of this Year. Life is busying, I understand more and more each day.

I play Politics and War mostly now, and even the little bit of commitment there is hard. I don't expect commitment here as it once one. I'm honestly shocked how CN is still operating, why the forums are still up, and how long will discord will be a thing?

 

So I give this thread, as one last chance to give an update.

as a 34 year old who is a Husband, and a Father of two (4 and soon to be 3 year old) and soon to be three kids. Living in Idaho working the daily grind in a job a love.

A couple of days ago my wife talked me into going to see a new movie called "Argyle".

I have long believed that movies made these days are total crap, and they no longer make movies for me.

How bad could it possibly be? I mean really... it's Henry Cavill, right?

Argyle has proven to me... beyond the shadow of any doubt... that Hollywood has reached the summit of being really good at making stupid movies. Case in point... while I watched "Barbie" on HBO, I felt my face go numb, and my IQ points dying.

Started playing in my mid-teens when myself, Matt Miller, and and a couple others from our computer class signed up. Miller was first iirc followed by the rest of us and only Miller and myself stuck around after the first month or two. I was mainly involved with our military being the executive officer and later commanding officer of the legendary Foxtrot Five (Plus One). A group of crazy son of a bitches who were hungry for war and always wanted more. Later served in the council as an at-large member and deputy minister of admissions until my quiet retirement from the game in late 2007 after I turned 18. 

 

From there, I worked a few different jobs. As a gas station attendant, delivery driver, and currently work in retail, mainly doing major resets for a store. In my personal life, my 20s aren't anything to write home about. Moved four different times. Going from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, to PA again, and then a little further west (still in PA). Did a lot of drifting as I hit with depression and depersonalization at different times and unfortunately didn't do much to improve my lot in life during this time. 

 

When I hit my early 30s, I ended up seeing a doctor and I've been working to get my life back on track since. It's been slow going, but every new step is a step in a positive direction and further away from the person I grew up as. Slowly gaining confidence, losing weight, and just in general the happiest I've perhaps ever been.

 

So this is vgmmaster, checking in. A 34 year old single woman. Big into gaming and magic the gathering. Continually figuring herself out as time rolls on, but things are looking up and that's all that matters, isn't it?

I first joined the alliance in the 8th grade, my original nation deleted sometime around when I graduated high school. I rerolled in college, nation sat inactive for years.

Now I'm 30, married and we have a toddler. Time sure does fly.

Wow, what a blast from the past! Great to hear from you. Glad to hear life is moving positively. Echoing Imran's sentiments that I hope Matt is OK. 

I started here in my early years of high school following an invite from a friend who left the game about 16 years ago. Picked IRON because it had the best acronym and had pulled off what seemed at the time to be impressive war wins. It also helped IRON didn't seem to be locked to any one block.

 

In the interim; got a masters, became a doctor, and am now nearing the end of my specialty training program. 

 

All in it's been a bit of wild ride, had two solid options to settle down but ended up choosing work over home and... well... retrospect is a glorious thing, so I'm continuing the white knuckle ride that is life of one man and his dog for the time being.

Hoping Miller is doing well also. Haven't seen him since graduating high school (he was one of my teachers). Last I knew, I think he was going to move school districts but we're also talking 15+ years ago now.

Retrospection is certainly an interesting thing. If we knew as kids what we know now, but I've been on this path for two years now. Some days it feels like it's still just beginning (which in some ways I guess it kind of is).
