Wow. That turned into circular reasoning quickly. That's of course because such reasoning about scum behavior is WIFOM. Site meta might break the circle somewhat. From the games I've read on this site I've gathered that the meta is to lynch the less active and thus you would expect scum to be more active. Then again, there have certainly been some less active scum in previous games so maybe not everyone is taking note of site meta.

I thought that was want I was saying about where the scum is most likely to be.

I have no experience with an active scum yet, it's hard to say that players are less or more active because of their roles because they're plenty much in the same region as posting as before.

The only person that jumps out at me is killgor, is he posting more because he wants to be a better townie or because he is scum?

/me checks in.

I wouldn't even call your post fluff.

Scum would like to talk less. Talking more means they may let slip something or say something which will become contradicted by their actions of future days. An active scum who posts a lot needs to play really really well as he has to balance being trying to look townie while angling for a lynch that favors them. A "No Lynch" option is hence a really bad option for Day 1. They dont need to take stances or vote against people..they can just hide themselves in the no lynch bandwagon.

I think they would actually want to vote to lynch a townie to end the game faster.

Just play it cool and let the day sort itself out, there is probably going to be a lynch and probably a townie in their mind.

Plus it means them not showing stances comes all the way back around hitting them with a uppercut when they help extend the game possibly by a day by no lynching which could end with them been put in a less than preferable position.

It's nothing but a princess bride reasoning going on now.

"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me." - Vizzini

i don't know about that. the only time i was scum i kind'a disliked that nobody voted or that nobody talked for that matter. i felt the game was not fun but i also felt like it meant i could win easier. i mean less votes means less reasons for discussion. and less discussion means that scum don't have to do anything to hide. and in a setup where the cop has one chance to get 1 scum, 1 vig has 2 chances and the rest of the roles and the innocent child can't really do much, i'd say it's better to start early.

Starting early vs Lasting longer

No pun intended.

Nobody got lynched yet and there has been plenty of discussion.

that's just it silly, we won't last longer except if a roleplayer does a block or if the townies don't lynch another time. the number of days to play will still be 3 if we don't lynch any scum, 4 if we lynch 1 scum and 5 if we lynch 2.

How is saving one person by putting them in jail going to make the game last longer than saving 1 person from being lynched now.

1 person is always going be 1 person, jailing or doing a later lynch does not equal saving 2 people.

From my understanding there is 3 Mafia working together and possibly 2 Town power roles capable of killing(probably definitely 1 at least) so they're capable of killing scum.

We do not know if there is a jailer(role blocker).

And I would not recommend no lynching at later date,

If anything that is the best time to lynch.

If we no lynch today and the scum kill three people and non our power roles do anything that would leave 5 townies and 3 scum.

And how can it be over going into Day 4 with 3 scum alive.

If 1 scum gets lynch on Day 4 that would leave 5 townies and 2 scum.

4 townies and 2 scum going into Day 5, another scum gets lynched.

3 Townies and 1 scum going into Day 6 and etc.....

Unless I got the number of scum/townies and that the scum are capable of only killing 1 townie each night wrong.

d3 no scum lynched:

lynch today -> 4townies vs 3 scum which means we either lynch scum or we lose.

if we don't lynch today -> 5townies vs 3 scum which again means we either lynch scum or we lose.

the major difference? less vote patterns, 1 day lost which means that instead of having 3 chances to lynch people we only get 2, power roles also have to rely more on luck since they also can benefit from the voting patterns in their choices. and if we have power roles with limits on how many times they can actually do power role things, well, that's bad mojo.
