Alliance you Represent: MHA Alliance's IRC Channel & Server: that's a tough one. Can I use a life line? yeah, I've switched back to the MHA and no updating "that" thread. Sorry.

  4. That's what I've seen as well. I believe that one of the paths to a better salary and respect for teachers is to allow the system to remove the teachers that either should not be there or those that were good but no longer able to teach. I've seen teachers that are still in the system just because they have been in there so long. That first in last out needs to be removed. We lose so many talented new graduates that truly want to teach because of this FILO rule.
  5. That always got me pissed off and made me laugh a lot at the same time especially during the late 90's tech boom. There were people getting into the tech field that had no right to be. They just messed things up for those that actually knew what they were doing. So many people got into the tech field figuring they could get an easy 6 figure salary for the rest of their life not realizing they first have to earn it and continue to learn and adapt because in six months, everything they knew is old. DZ, it's great you want to be a teacher for the sakes of teaching. I believe things will be changing in the US for teachers that may benefit you by the time you are ready to take your first job but will be very painful for those currently in the system. States like NY are changing like that old first in first out system to merit based. Good changes like these will help our education system and help the teachers gain some respect from the public. My daughter also wants to be a teacher (against everyone's advice) because she wants to genuinely teach and I wish her luck. Worst case, if you have too much problems finding a good teaching job, teachers are held in high respect in Asian nations. They tend to be desperate for good English teachers especially ones from the US. Something to consider.
  6. My very short serious opinion. It’s necessary. A lot of people are hurting. Lots of things wrong that needs fixing. As much as they are trying to keep the movement open to ideas, it is still too limited in scope because of the focus on Wall Street and the 1%. Many of the protesters are making demands with limited knowledge and are not willing to listen or keep an open mind. There is also the possibility that this is symptom of a new revolution we are in the middle of similar to what happened during the industrial revolution. If done right and peacefully, the generations following may end up much better off.
