For Indians, jewelery can be considered a cultural thing, though there're not that many people I've seen wearing that amount in public lol. Rings are usually worn for religious purposes. They are supposed to be a sort of lucky charm and every stone/metal has some different meaning/ is used as a charm for something different. I wear a ring and a watch, a very basic one, because I'm too lazy to take out my phone whenever I want to check the time. My family has a lot of jewelry, though only worn on really special occasions and for the most part, are used as investments.
