This is something that I've thought about for a long time. I figured I'd finally throw it out there to see what people thought. I was thinking about what a good time it'd be if at some point in the future (maybe a year or two from now) we actually tried to hold an IRON meetup in real life. There are a lot of ways this could happen and if people were actually interested we could talk about it more seriously sometime.
I was thinking that maybe we could hold something like this in the central United States somewhere. This would make travel a bit easier on people from around the country. Obviously this would be impossible/very difficult for anyone from over seas to attend but you would certainly be welcomed to come if you wanted to take a vacation to the U.S. (Looking at you Rab, Blade and Q)
We always talk about what a great community we have and are in IRON, just thought it'd be cool if we could enjoy it and reminisce with one another sometime. This could be open to any current or former IRONers if we wanted it to be.
Would anyone even have any interest in something like this?

For continued dedication and tenacity, both as warriors and as military officers. Yehom has been fighting with both his own nation and one he's been sitting and has been effective. He has also been pounding the pavement as Commanding Officer making sure every enemy has been covered.

Yehom - you've got 1-2 years to save up for the event. Start now.
Rhizo - I am talking about doing it in the states, mostly because I live here.
So far Vegas has been brought up. What other city would house a good venue? Something a little more centrally located? Chicago? St. Louis? Houston? New orleans?

Sorry I got vegas blinders on, its all I can see, and I could meet up with a friend I made while at Ft Gordon
New Orleans is pretty cool to visit, fun times at night too and plenty of hotels on canal street, although my opinion might change when I'm down there in full gear this July doing the whole JRTC thing
I have some family in Chicago but most of my time there was spent at their houses so can't speak as to what the city has to offer other than some good pizza.
Only ever stopped in Houston on my way through it but have a friend down there that I would be fun to say hi to.
Never been to St. Louis myself but i think that's where one of my ex-girlfriends lives these days O.o
"Sir, we are surrounded!"
"Excellent! That means we can attack in any direction!"

LOS ANGELES!!! Well, in reality, it would be way too far west.
So, I wouldn't mind Las Vegas!!! It's only 4 hours away from LA. I go there occasionally anyway.
What will we do there? Gamble in the name of IRON? I think it would be fun to get a booth or something at a place to chill/drink/chat/etc. For our minor children (but over 18, I don't think we should have to babysit, sorry people. xD However, if you live there, why not!), we could probably provide variety of fresh juice.
I would be down, if the schedule works out. Of course, in a year or two that is.
We could so be a nerd and wear IRON shirts or something. ROFL! Of course... Before we go out. At our own rooms. xD Just kidding.

Well when I started thinking about this the one thing that kept occuring to me was if we like rented out a giant conference room/ball room type facility in a giant hotel or something and had some sort of get to know you/reminisce about good times IC and tell stories. Of course that wouldn't be all that would be going on. There would certainly need to be an open bar and by the end of that evening IRON would leave the room in a similar shape as that of VE after this war ends.
Doing it in Vegas would be cool because after this get together event we could do things like hit up the casinos and clubs and just have a great time.
For those of us that are under age we would have to figure out what else they could do, but I think we would have a great time. I'd love to throw back some drinks with Rab, Blade, CJ, and MM.

Vegas or New Orleans are the most "exciting" venues. But anything in the central portion of the states would be a viable option.
I am part of a motorcycle forum, and our first meet and greet like this was awesome. It created a new level of comradarie.
Whatever would suit people best is fine with me. I'm on the opposite side of the US (East Coast), and I know there isn't as much on this side for "Fun" venues as out west.
We got DC, which I live 20 minutes from so I've seen in all basically, and there is Atlantic City in NJ, but Vegas beats Atlantic City.

Awesome. Are you living in the states these days? Or are you still in Europe?

Agreed.
The way I look at it is this: Many of us have been playing this game for 3-6 years with most of that time having been spent on the IRON AA. That is a long time that we have been spending with one another, regardless of how active each person always is. I've been a member of IRON for 1,615 days which is just over 4.5 years. That is many many days and hours that have been devoted to this community and it has resulted in making a few really good friends. Would be cool to actually meet and have a good time together.

Vegas would definitely be a fun way to go. I was originally thinking something in the central U.S. so that travel times and costs for anyone in the U.S. wouldn't be too bad. Short flights for the west coast, east coast and obviously the midwest folks. I'm sure that if we decided to do Chicago or St. Louis or New Orleans we could find things to do without much of a problem.
