Also, why was the death of their parents glossed over so fast?

Because just maybe this movie is overhyped and isn't the greatest story of all time like people treat it as.
Nuked 5 times, hoping for more!

I thought the animation was top notch. Too music heavy at the beginning and it made it feel like it was never going to end, like a Les Mis musical. It really needed a little back story... like the need to know why she could turn everything to ice. The parents died so fast that my wife didn't even realize it, because she had her face in her computer at the time. Should have had more story like Tangled, Brave, or even the king of Disney... Beauty and the Beast. It was a good rental.

It was perfect and had a powerful ending, pretty much the best movie of 2013.
And I am not even one who watches animation movies much or likes musical based movies.
In fact it was the first musical movie I watched, the setting of the movie was pretty good.

Found it pretty boring tbh. I stay away from animations but thought I will watch this one because of all the hype. Was bored.
Only good thing about the movie was olaf. he needed more screentime.

Well since this got bumped, I'll chime in.
The movie was ok, thought massively over-hyped and suffered from a patched plot (I'll explain in a min).
The music was overall good, but had no thematic consistency between them. Thinking back to previous movies like Alladin, where the majority of the music was written in minor keys, using typical Arabic music troughs to accompany the feel of the music.Frozen just felt like singles (which they were), and that (imo) is a problem. It also really bothered me how everyone hyped this movie being the "first Disney movie to show you don't need a prince to rescue you", which it wasn't even close to (Brave, Mulan, probably some others I'm not thinking of).
I have two cousins that work at Disney, one of which is an animator that gets swung back and forth between Disney and Pixar projects. He was brought on to work on Frozen, and one of the things he told me was the script after "Let it Go" had to be completely redone, as it intended for Elsa to be the main villain, but they were afraid that people would be too attached to her character, and thought the movie would receive backlash by making it that way (I'm not privy to the details were on what was supposed to happen).

It was pretty good, but nothing to get divorced over. Also:

It and maleficent resembled each other somewhat, both ended in girl power moments.
I like it somewhat, loved it in Frozen but Maleficent felt like it was giving off the same general message within a year of each other.

Brave wasn't as good quality and I don't mean that because I watched a bad quality version of the movie which I did do but the story just wasn't interesting and the characters were unlikable.

The characters of Brave were more weird and maybe more human, it seems to me, Frozen characters were more stereotypes, there's more political correctness in Frozen it seems to me. However i really like the nordic-celtic-ancient european background of both movies

On account of this film, I learned quite a bit about all the work that goes into making films available internationally. Whereas, Lion King back in the '90s was dubbed into ~13 languages, studios have realized that there is a lot more money to be made in previously un-entered markets, so Frozen ended up available in something like 41 languages. Apparently there are teams of people re-writing all the words in other languages to match the meaning, tone, and animation as best as they possibly can, and others seeking local actors/actresses with approximately equivalent vocal ranges.
They put together a nice compilation of 25 of the languages here:

It was a decent kids cartoon, but there are a dozen better of the same genre. Very over-hyped.
