August 2, 201412 yr Author comment_696964 Baker lake?Too far north. Lake Washington.Too far west… also, there's no where with that much wilderness around Lake Washington; it's surrounded on all sides by Seattle suburbs. Lake QuinaultWay too far west. Lake Wenatechee edit: ugh, all this game is doing to me right now is adding to my "places I want to hike and fish" list...it's already too big!Closest guess to date. --- I didn't expect this one to be so difficult Allow me to summarize the most important clues I've dropped so far.The lake is made by God. (This means that it's a natural lake and not a reservoir.) The lake by itself is not particularly famous, but the basin in which it lies is reasonably infamous. (This means that there are probably more lakes like it in the immediate vicinity that share the same basin.) Try looking at things in the picture other than the lake. I chose this particular angle for a reason. There is something in the picture that has its own Wikipedia page. Once you find it, identifying the name of the lake will be easy. The photo was taken on a hike. I recommend looking at popular hikes in this area for ideas. The lake is about 50 miles away from Lake Chelan and even closer to Lake Wenatechee. So as soon as someone goes and looks up a hike (clue #4) going through a basin filled with natural lakes (clues #1 and #2) not far from Lake Wenatechee (clue #5), you should be able to identify the lake based on the unique aspects of the image (clue #3). August 2, 201412 yr comment_697026 The basin you speak of is huge. The infamous mountain is 200ish miles from your reference point, which is Lake Chelan, and I've named 2 of those lakes near that infamous mountain. Also, Lake Chelan is huge, so maybe a direction reference in relation to it might help a bit. Report

August 2, 201412 yr comment_697039 Yeah, i think we are all following a similar strategy at this point. I'm assuming what we should be focused on is the gap. But there are a lot of those and I'm not even sure :[ Report

But there are a lot of those and I'm not even sure :[Indeed! The "gap" between the mountains is Aasgard Pass, a hiking trail with a remarkable reputation for its difficulty. As one hiker put it, "The ascent up Aasgard Pass into the Enchantments in the Alpine Lake Wilderness has a well-deserved reputation for being difficult and possibly dangerous. In less than a mile, the hiker gains 2,230 feet in elevation." Here is the Wikipedia page I promised: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aasgard_Pass "The Enchantments" is an infamous basin filled with dozens of alpine lakes. It is on National Geographic's list of the world's 100 most beautiful places. The Washington park ranger gives out fewer than half as many camping passes as people apply for. But hey, do you recognize that picture from Wikipedia? Here's the challenge for this one: I need you to provide the link to this exact location within Google Street View. I first recommend collectively drilling down on the country and then the road before you start going into Street View. I will provide help along the way of course. August 3, 201412 yr comment_697375 Well we are driving on the right and the scenery makes me think its Europe, following the yellow license plate: Luxembourg? Report
August 3, 201412 yr comment_697398 well there are only 3 nations with yellow plates in europe as far as I know, Gibraltar (think you'd find it hard to stick that pic on Gibraltar ), Netherlands (again, lol flat!) and Lxembourg. So I made an educated guess >_> Report
August 3, 201412 yr comment_697421 If it's the US I think the only states with yellow plates are WV, Alaska and maybe New Mexico? I dunno, some state by NM I think. I feel like this one is going to be a team effort Report
