August 12, 201412 yr comment_699166 Is it in the valley of the river "La Tinée"? How close do you have to be to be in the valley? I'd have to say no. Well I'd say anything which can "see" the river itself is the valley How about this, does the vally in which this is located have a D-road or a M-road running thruw it? Report
August 13, 201412 yr Author comment_699335 How about this, does the vally in which this is located have a D-road or a M-road running thruw it?Yes. But aren't almost all roads down there either D-roads or M-roads? I guess a few of them are N-roads or E-roads. Report
August 15, 201412 yr Author comment_699838 The name of the road is in the format "D##", where each # is a number. I guess you would call that 2 numbers. Peggy has been watching all the caravans drive by with long sticks on their roofs. I'm told that the sticks might have been skis. (hint hint) Report
August 16, 201412 yr comment_700119 seeing as we are in the Alps and the road goes up, its kinda obvious that there is a ski resort somewhere >_> still can't really see something fitting the picture, lets refine ourselfes even more:- I am thinking its North West of Alpes-maritimes, correct?- Can you tell us what the elevation (roughly) is of te pic taken (I see you took it in google earth)? Here's another hint that might help a little bit… in addition to the skis, Peggy has also seen the occasional electric six-seater golf cart. Report
August 16, 201412 yr comment_700185 Still not finding it Is it above or below Parc National de Mercantour? and for that 1550m, darn it, now I need to get google earth on this PC, my own fault, shouldn't have asked >_> Report
August 18, 201412 yr Author comment_700436 Is it above or below Parc National de Mercantour? In this map of that park, the desired D## road is in the light green zone (Aire optimale d'adhesion). Google Maps mark that as part of the park, while Bing Maps only marks the dark green zone as part of the park. So depending on your interpretation, the road in question is either inside or below the park. Report

Got it, darn this was a difficult one, I have gone over that road 2 times already but never made the connection with the pic. Must be my tendency to think turns are less then they look. Report
