2/6 = 33% chance there's a cop.

7/9 = 78% chance a lynch would kill a townie.

cops are over-rated. theres like 1/10 chance of a cop surviving and having a positive impact on the game. I think I have been involved in only 1 game where cop investigations won the game for the townies. relying on them to win the game while sitting around voting no-lynch is a recipe for disaster.

From #57:

Not lynching: Chance to lynch town > scum

Lynching inactive: Get rid of useless ppl.

I would interpret this as saying:
  • The reason for no-lynch is because there is a greater chance to lynch a townie.
  • The reason for lynching an inactive is to get rid of a useless person.

I interpreted it as saying he was for lynching inactive, and he had voted for me (who was for all intents and purpose, inactive).

I was asked to give the pros I saw in both options for town.

With 9 alive, it takes 5 to reach majority and 3 to reach half-majority.
MutedFaith is the current wagon leader at L-3

Nobody knows nothin'.

(Double negative intended for humor)

If we lynch at random, we have a 2 of 9 chance of getting a scum.
But it's less than that because you would need to get 5 of 7 townies to all vote for the same scum; the scum aren't going to vote for themselves.

If we lynch, there's a distinct possibility that we'll kill off a power role.  While jailkeepers, doctors, trackers, and bulletproof townies aren't as valuable as cops, I'd rather have them in play than lynched.

The town has to get lucky to win.  We could get lucky and have a cop or get lucky and have a tracker that gets lucky and sees a scum kill.  None of that happens if we lynch them while trying to get lucky and have 5 of 7 townies agree on the same random selection who might be scum.

Maybe we'll be lucky and a Jailkeeper or Doctor will prevent a night kill.  I'd rather give them that chance than possibly lynch them.

Do you really want one more dead townie tomorrow? The players that do the lynching will say they were trying to act in the town's best interest.  The problem is that they probably were trying to act in the town's best interest and we will have no additional information on which to act.

OK then..lets lynch the lurkers/ ppl not taking any position.

Unvote

Vote: Rafay

Genius wants to get replaced and Montosh has expressed some thoughts on what should be done. Rafay hasnt done much except posting some fluff.

Is Genius actually being replaced? Because other than that one post earlier he still seems to be around and kicking. Unless stated otherwise i'm going to assume he's still around.

I've yet to see Genius say anything much about being so quick to vote for MF while providing no reason other than that he was stoutly against a no lynch. That wasn't actually what he said, but even if it were, most players are against a no lynch at this point and in most games.

Mind explaining?

If the game starts with an odd number of players, no lynching takes away one of the town's mislynches prior to the scum getting the endgame win.

In a 9 player game with 2 scum, we lose upon mislynching for a third time. If we no lynch, we can only mislynch once. (And will lose upon the second mislynch.)

Getting more town controlled kills on the scum is going to give us a much better chance of winning than getting less.

In a 9 player game with 2 scum, we lose upon mislynching for a third time. If we no lynch, we can only mislynch once. (And will lose upon the second mislynch.)

Except that there is potentially a doctor, jailkeeper, or bullet-proof townie which might take away a night-kill.

I'd rather start Day 2 with 6 townies rather than 5 and take my chances later.

3.5 days until deadline.

I predict that even though almost everyone says they are against a no-lynch, nobody accumulates enough votes to be lynched.

If I should get night-killed, here are my observations:

  • Muted Faith is the only one who is vocally agreeing with my no-lynch strategy, so I think he is most likely town.
  • Imran Ehsan and GeniusInc are currently voting for Muted Faith, so they have a higher likelihood to be scum.
  • Everyone else is either a misguided townie or a clever scum.
This whole random setup thing doesn't make things easier.

Yeah. That's totally a solid strategy.

/sarcasm

So then if we all lynch a townie by mistake all those that didnt vote for them are scum. Sounds to me like an easy way to find the mafia.

Yeah. That's totally a solid strategy.

ooor..instead of complaining, join me on a lynch on Rafay. just 3 half majority needed for a lynch.

note to self: only one "pretending" to be voting for someone today is d3mon. voted for EM very early on in the RVS but did not remove vote or vote for anyone else so that it looks like he is actually doing something not just lurking.
