[KH-06] The Battle of the Five Armies Mafia - Town Wins

Featured Replies

So thinking it over dinner, one thing that doesn't explain, is how ABD was roleblocked. we have 2 people who attempted to visit Lyner last night, but with two scenarios on where on was blocked. it is likely Kevin is a mod with said Doc ability not to be told anything upon being blocked or Jailkeeped.

Now, I'm a bit forced to reveal who visited me. It should not be hard to guess who visited me. Kazio Visited me last night. So that leaves him out of the scum scenario right now (Unless there is 4 scum, in which case we are F'd).

However, my thoughts are if ABD is town, it is likely whoever blocked him and scum choose to deliberately choose to do so. Thinking ABD would watch them, and they'd be correct as he said he attempted to. It makes good sense. Taking the risk on nobody investigating them during the night. Meaning a well thought out and reasonable way the mafia planned last night. To fit this scenario, we'd need a scum blocker, and a Scum JOAT or Scum 1 shot strongman. The scum blocker blocked ABD, and the Scum JOAT or Scum 1 shot Strongman targeted Lyner.

So listing off here,

Preston could fit into scum JOAT, Unknown roles including TBR, and Nick/mario could fit.

Scum blocker could be EM, NICK/mario or TBR (However, in either scenario, scum blocker should never reveal he is a blocker.)

Now, lets look at EM's new scenario. Him jail keeping Imran N1, and Preston N2 fits (Fits well in fact). We still had a 1 kill last night and 1 shots fired. We are right now assuming D3mon shot a shot N1 also to try to gain early advantage. Mafia still have there strongman and was number 1 candidate for having such an ability, (Preston as JOAT,), would be blocked now. Meaning Preston could neither be scum strong man or scum blocker. So for this scenario to work, would be same mafia setup as above. But going down the list, we can eliminate who could of actually be the scum blocker and scum strongman.

Listing who is imposible in my eyes of killing lyner.

Robert2424 (Me)

EM

Preston

Kazio

for those who could of done it.

ABD, (Meaning he has faked role claimed, and lied about being blocked)

TBR,

Nick/Mario

Imran being left out as he was blocked N1, either by EM or somebody else, (Ramains to be seen right now) as its likely somebody who shot EM or TBR N1 Killed Lyner N2.

Notice now that I forgot to add Rafay to either list, cause off the top my head, I know we think he be tracker. I forget the details and haven't went to my notes to write that down what has been said with his role yet, so hoping somebody can clarify cause I'm not feeling 100 % right now or I just go back and look manually.

Meaning, right now, EM scenrio is possible, and doesn't really clear Preston yet from being scum, but doesn't make him scum ether.

We don't know TBR or Nick/Mario abilities. We know for sure Nick/Mario has abilities of some sort. TBR is an unknown.

Meaning we still missing a piece to the puzzle regarding either of these scenarios. Somebody want to sort through my mess of thoughts now In case I missed something?

PS, while writing long post, its hard to keep my thoughts straight with the multiple posting while writing my thoughts down.

Also, that being said, if EM is telling the truth, not sure why Preston and EM are thinking each other is scum. EM blocking Preston Doc ability is basically not groundbreaking. I doubt first off Kevin would tell Preston he was role blocked while using the Doc ability. all that would mean is EM blocked a townie action that would of had no effect as it was a strong arrow anyways. We have no alternative for anybody else blocking Imran n1 ether. So this scenario is plausible. The only thing preston has is how Imran is got his Night actions. Normally as Jailkeeper, your shielded from all night actions. Witch puts question on Imran. Unless there is something special about EM night action.

I have a lot of stuff I want to post, but I need Kaz to confirm he targeted Robert and Rafay to confirm he targeted Imran.

I will post that I tracked Nick last night and he targeted ABD.  I can't imagine anyone else targeting ABD and feel like Mario can easily say he has no idea why Nick would roleblock someone we all assumed was town after Day 2.

EM, you're missing something important here. As doc, you normally, don't get confirmation of successfully healing somebody. Or if you were Roleblocked. The Mod will normally not send you a message. You could get confirmation via the story, but that it. You normal indication you choose correctly is if there is no Night Kills. That is the doctor role. A JOAT using his 1 shot doc role would be the same way.

Robert, mod god told Imran he was role blocked so its safe to assume he would have told Preston as well.

This is true. But I dont think he was blocked using his action. Strongman ability from mafiawiki:

Strongman is a role modifier that signifies that any kills performed by this player cannot be blocked by any means - neither by Bulletproof, nor by Doctor or other protective roles, nor by Roleblocks.

I dont believe you managed to role block Preston. He probably has a strongman ability that allowed him to bypass your block and kill Lyner.

I am very suspicious of his claim on why he would use a doc ability on Lyner. It seems this is a easy coverup for any watcher or tracker that may remain and see/tracked him to Lyner. I am tending to agree with you he is our 2nd scum.

This is great info. I think we found our 3rd scum. mario is the scum rolblocker.

So last night,

Preston stongman killed Lyner

mario roleblocked ABD

N1 (possible):

Preston investigated me

d3mon shot an arrow at EM

mario shot an arrow at TBR (i think mario is a scum JOAT as well)

Does that explain everything or did I miss any unexplained actions?

Imran, I didn't have anyone that was high on my suspect list going into night one and basically was just trying to get lucky.

I targeted Preston the 2nd night because I was suspicious of his JOAT role. He also placed the final vote on d3mon but only after it was bound to happen anyway. Seemed like it was a last ditch effort to try to separate himself from the scum team. I'm also inherently suspicious of him because he is always a vocal leader in these mafia games and I like to check on my biggest threats 1st, which is another reason why I chose you n1.

I placed what was going to be the 5th vote on d3mon; you posted in the middle of my writing, and my 5th vote became the 6th. And given how vocal I was on Day 1, I'm surprised you didnt target me first - but also I would like to know how you thought your "jailer" role was going to actually check on someone? Without a clear target you would be more likely to interfere with a townie than to get lucky and block scum. I don't really buy the "check on" argument.

Without quoting Robert's whole post, he is correct: I did not receive a message on the success or failure of my doc action, just that it had been recorded. I further looked up on mafiascum.net - a reference, albeit not definitive for what Kevin choses to do - and it states "Players are not told that they are blocked unless it cannot be helped." - i.e. if they have an investigative role they would be told something, but a role like a doc would get nothing. Link here for that quote: http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Roleblocker

So your argument that I would have known I was blocked holds no water, unless Kevin has chosen to do something differently.

FWIW, this is what I c

I had something similar where you were a 4th scum, but needed Rafay to confirm for me or not if he tracked you.  This is what it would have broke out to for N1 then:

Night 1 known actions:
ABigDeer -watched Preston
Rafay - tracked Preston
Preston - claimed JOAT, and says used Role Cop on Imran (Rafay says he targeted Imran)
Kaziocore - used Fletcher (Gunsmith) on Rafay
Lyner - investigated D3mon and found Goblin
TBRaiders - used cop on Kaz and got back result of alliance
Robert2424 - unknown role
Imran Ehsan - was jailed by EM
Electric Mango - jailed Imran

Probable N1 action:
D3mon - shot arrow
Nick The Great - shot arrow

Robert, please share what you did on N1.  No need to role claim, but it sheds a little more light.

I've actually never seen this happen before though. A strongman being Jailkeeped. I'm not sure what happens tbh.

@TBR, I targeted Lyner N1. Thats why I thought he was town before he revealed his results.

I have a lot of stuff I want to post, but I need Kaz to confirm he targeted Robert and Rafay to confirm he targeted Imran.

Thank you, this will definitely swing my vote towards Mario for today.

Seems to be a bit of confusion about role blocking, if Lyner were not to die last night and I got a "no result" I would not have much reason to say I was role blocked. The fact is that I watched Lyner and he died and in return I got a "no result" it makes me think that it was definitely a role block, and it is Mario.

I was linked this though

"No result" is what investigative roles receive for their action if they are roleblocked or similar. While in the majority of cases players are not informed that they have been blocked, if the player is expecting a result, it is terrible form to simply not tell the player anything (they may assume the mod missed their action or forgot to give their result). Therefore it is necessary to tell the player they obtained no results from their investigation.
It should generally not be possible to obtain a "no result" when not blocked; if a role learns that nothing happened, that's not a "no result", it's a result of "nothing happened". For example, a Tracker should be told that his target did not visit anyone, and a Watcher should be told that his target was not visited by anyone. Giving "no result" in these situations is ambiguous and not normal."

Two sides of a coin of lynching Preston today vs. lynching Mario today.

I would rather take out the experienced active scum first. Plus lynching Preston and finding scum confirms EM as town. If Preston is townie, we know EM is probably scum.

Lynching nick doesnt give us that much info tbh.

Wow, a LOT of posts since my last. People are really active tonight. Unfortunately I cannot stay up much longer - which is really dangerous given EM's push against me, because my doctor didn't block a strong arrow or say I was roleblocked.

One problem with the theory about me being a strongman that worked despite being jailed - I'm a JOAT, not a strongman, and Imran has confirmed this. Unless you want to assume my JOAT is *also* a strongman, I cannot have fired that strong arrow last night. The only way I would then fit into the scenario is as the one doing the roleblocking - but if I was jailed, I could not have roleblocked ABD last night, and he *was* blocked. There's a contradiction here. Not all of the pieces fit.

Another interesting piece that's come out of this is Nick having targeted ABD last night; it was as much of a surprise to me as hearing that Kaz visited Robert last night, given that both Kaz and Nick have been inactive and hardly present on the forums at all.

Consider instead now what if EM were the scum strongman instead of the jailer he claims to be. The whole thread knows Imran was blocked Night 1, so it's simple to take credit for it. Either limited or waiting on Night 1, EM could have fired the normal scum arrow in addition to d3mon's vigilante arrow, and a scum roleblocked Imran. Night 2 EM fired his strong arrow at Lyner, and the scum roleblocker (Nick?) blocked ABD.

In list form:

Night 1:

EM (Strongman): Fires scum faction arrow

d3mon (JOAT): Fires vigilante arrow

Nick? (Roleblocker): blocks Imran

Night 2:

EM (Strongman): Fires strong arrow, kills Lyner

d3mon (JOAT): dead

Nick? (Roleblocker): blocks ABD

This would mean the scum ignored their faction arrow on night 2 in favor of the strongman shot, but blocking ABD for protection is a reasonable reason to do so.

This fits the demonstrated/observed facts far more than the fare you're selling, EM.
