November 22, 201510 yr comment_813269 the unemployment rate is going down because people are leaving the workforce faster than business' can lay people off. Don't even know what that means sir? November 22, 201510 yr Author comment_813276 Hi Rafay... I don't know how much you are into crunching numbers on the US economy, but this website will give you a wealth of information about it without spin. If you think it's good, you have a lot in common with climate change believers, if you think it's bad it's nothing compared to how bad it will get after the Federal Reserve raises interest rates... and they have to raise them, it's not an option to keep them at zero forever. Notice the "Official Unemployment", "Actual Unemployment", "Not In Labor Force" numbers. If you are unemployed and have quit looking for work, as millions have... you are not counted in the Dept. of Labor rate. So the actual unemployment rate is 10-11%http://www.usdebtclock.org/ Report
November 23, 201510 yr comment_813291 I would go further than tracking. I would have congress pass articles designating Islam to be recognized as a form of government. This takes away the Constitutional freedom of religion they exploit... and use against us, and Mosques immediately become unsanctioned and illegal embassies. That would take care of that. Call it a separation of church and state, that'll work. The state is separated from religion or is it not? Last I checked it were the conservatives trying to undo the separation. There's more conservative terrorism in America presently than any religious one. Heh you even tried to actually form a separate govt so you can keep the slaves. I suppose that defeat didn't remove the xenophobic strand. The flags gone too now due to terrorism. Nationals who don't want to pay taxes or adhere to laws of the land, should be kicked or jailed. Those nationals could be of any race, creed, religion, how hard is that. Illegals, yea, deport them and make stricter border controls, I think that's common sense. Generally, immigration should be based on skill requirements, you bring in smart educated people to plug the gaps where existing population can't. November 23, 201510 yr comment_813347 http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS12300000 Proportion of population in work is slowly rising in the US. Not very fast and you are lagging behind the UK in this regard (which now has its highest ever recorded % in work figure but it has been rising since the recession bottomed out in 2010. Interestingly though, the percentage of the population in work began to fall before the financial crash. Of course the real question behind any jobs recovery is the quality of the jobs being created. In the UK outside of London essentially all jobs "recovery" has been in self-employment. Average self-employment wages are around £200 a week, which is below minimum wage. Which means not only sucky standard of living but puts them outside the tax base. Report

November 26, 201510 yr comment_813724 My views on this election cycle, mind you I am an Independent and a Veteran, I don't care who wins as long as they can cut through the bullshit. Trump - I don't see Trump beating anyone in the General Election, he can fire up the Republican Base, but he won't be able to drift back to center, come a General Election without the loss of the Base.Clinton - Not a fan of Clinton, she tailors her message the crowd she is in front of, and has a CMA attitude, but she would be a better option then anyone bar Sanders.Sanders - Honestly, my number one pick for President, has good ideas, but people confuse his Democratic Socialist with Democratic Socialist = Communism/Nazism. A Sanders/Rubio or Sander/Pual presidential ticket would be scary, but it will never happen.Bush - Another repeat of the last Bush... no thanks I will pass. The rich don't need more tax breaks and cuts, and we don't need to be the world police anymore.Rubio - Seems willing to work with Democrats provided he gets help in return, I feel if it came down to a General Election, he would have a better chance of beating Clinton then anyone else, and win Florida without the help of the Supreme Court.Cruz - He knows how to shut down the government, and that is about it. Not a fan of his extreme hyper focus on Christians, last I checked Bill of Rights, Freedom of (and from) Religion. I feel the best way to cut down on the hard stance, toe the party line, there should be a Constitutional Amendment, ratified by all 50 states that the winner of the Republican and Democratic Nominations must pick a running mate from the other party to be their VP, and that at least 2 Cabinet spots for any President must be from the other party. November 27, 201510 yr Author comment_813822 Greetings PresidentMueller, I enjoy new opinions here, especially those that will be voting. Your idea for VP is interesting, but it would never work. There once was a time when the election for President was a list of names, and the one who took the second most votes was designated VP. I'm not sure why this ended, but there must have been a reason. VP is a thankless job... they break ties in Senate votes, show up to events that the President doesn't want to do, and his boss is the President. If a Democrat was elected President and was forced by law to have a Republican VP, they would never trust each other, work together, or even be seen together. It would be a very bad relationship and end up with very public expressions of middle fingers. Plus we have more than two political parties and that would cause endless court battles over rights. Bernie loves to make promises he can't keep. We don't have the 18 trillion dollars to pay for his freebies, and do you think Congress will just say "Whatever you want Bernie... we just love you man"? It will not ever happen. Trump won't drift to the center, in many ways he's already there. He's not a conservative, nor is he a liberal. He wants what will make the country stronger, richer, and more confident. The only way he will lose the nomination is for many candidates to drop out, and then their support has to go to someone else... I'm not sure this will happen, and if this continues, he will sweep the first 3, 4, or 5 states, and then there would be no real way to stop him. I believe Trumps real strength has not even taken shape yet. He's a celebrity, everyone knows him, and he will get votes from everywhere. Many Democrats, Independents, Blacks, Women, Seniors, and yes even Hispanics, will vote for him because he's a star, they think he's funny, or they just don't trust Clinton. No one can deny his ability to get things done... he's built a 10 billion dollar empire all by himself. Many have made more than Trump, but they didn't do it alone like he has. We shall see. Report
November 27, 201510 yr comment_813827 Lys, you're a hopeless optimist. Remember how Romney lost the minority vote because he had to shift too much to satisfy the crazy base to clear the primaries. Now imagine that whole lot of crazy is 10x more. If Trump gets the ticket, the Republican defeat would be even greater than the one Obama handed to them. Report
November 27, 201510 yr Author comment_813839 I'm a Rubio/Cruz guy... I just look at the way things are. Donald Trump is no Mitt Romney, and Hillary Clinton is no Barack Obama. Clinton will not get the black support Obama did, she won't even get the Democrat support Obama did. It doesn't matter who she runs against, people don't like her. Democrats are notorious for not turning out, and it will be even worse after any of these people get finished ripping her apart in debates. She has a buttload of titles, but nothing to show for it, and she has more scandals than titles. All eyes are on the Republican field, and no one is paying attention to Hillary yet. We shall see. November 27, 201510 yr comment_813840 That's where Sanders will come in and swoop things up, he's giving that Obama vibe to bring the democrat base out. Rubio is looking to be the most 'electable' candidate out of the field here, but he'll need to breakthrough the primaries. I think Cruz is Republican VP material and not the P, he'll face some of the same issues Trump will be facing if he goes into national elections. So Rubio will bring a nice balance while Cruz can be kept around to keep the extreme end all fired up. What the Republicans are missing is someone of the caliber of James Baker. Bush is done IMO and Carson is busy imploding. Edited November 27, 201510 yr by Shahenshah Report

November 28, 201510 yr Author comment_813971 I don't like Trumps tax plan. Any tax plan that doesn't dissolve the IRS and flatten out this destructive, progressive, crap plan we have now... I will not be in favor of. Trumps plan only rearranges the numbers and proposes a new set of goals and promises that government cannot ever deliver. To be fair, his plan involves honestly reducing unemployment and getting our labor participation rate back to where it really belongs. Democrats are very proud of their achievement from the Obama, Clinton, Reid, and Pelosi years... they have successfully fenced in millions of people into the slavery of government dependency. It is our goal as Republicans... to set them free again. Report
November 28, 201510 yr comment_813992 Just taken another swing by Trump's website. It doesn't say a damn thing about how growth will be achieved. So I don't think you can credit him with a plan to "honestly reduce unemployment." Especially as his day 1 policy is to start a trade war with your neighbor. And the other reason his tax plan is shite is because he wants to fund Revenue reductions with a one off capital boost. It does not work that way. He cites this US companies having 2.5 trillion offshore he wants them to repatriate in exchange for a 10% levy. So at most that's a one off 250 billion sum. Over the 8 years of his proposed presidency, his income tax cuts for the lowest households (those that currently pay the least income tax) cost (by the figures on his website) 600 billion. That would be the best case scenario. In a real life scenario, he maybe gets a one off payment of 100 billion and expects it to make a significant fiscal contribution. Its 12.5 billion ish a year over 8 years and you've still hacked back your income tax reciepts on a permanent basis. Given he claims to be a business master, it shows how deceitful he is that he wants to fund reduction in revenue with one off capital. As for closing loopholes, every politician under the sun promises to close loopholes. Its the least imaginative fiscal strategy on the planet, and consequently one of the lowest. And for the presumed link between corporation tax and economic growth, I know it is a popular justification, but Germany has a corporation tax of 30% and a personal income tax of nearly 50%. Its economy does pretty well. Ireland on the other hand long had a 15% corporation tax. Their economy....not so great. Report
November 28, 201510 yr Author comment_814008 High time to quit playing politics with the economy and get real. The only way to fix it is to get everyone paying taxes and cut spending across the board. The USA needs a new breed of Federal Government that lives by a solemn oath of the very meaning of the words... "It's none of our business". The criminal practice of stealing money from people that earn it only to waste it on special interests, must end. Every time government thinks they can fix a problem, it only creates a bigger problem. It's time to allow the Constitution to be what it was always meant to be... an unbreakable vow to "We the people", that we would never have a government more powerful than us. That's something our fathers from England didn't understand when we said we had enough. Report
November 28, 201510 yr comment_814022 Very nice sentiment and words, but that doesn't really answer the point that Trump has no plan on economic governance and plans to fund permanent revenue reductions with one off incomes. Report
