It will be the top 6... so if things remain the same, it will be Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Bush and Christie. Fiorina, Kasich, and Paul will be invited to the under-card debate... AKA, the kids table debate. Now it will get interesting... I can already hear Trump teasing Bush for being on the end. http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2015/12/22/fox-business-network-announces-entry-criteria-for-gop-primary-debates-on-jan-14/?intcmp=marketfeatures Report

Trump is running on total emotion... that's why everyone... establishment Republicans included, are so afraid of him. That's why the Tea Party has had so much effect on the past few elections. People are pissed off at being lied to, and not getting what they vote for. The way people are thinking, is politicians are not taking care of things, so lets put a guy in there that's a hard ass and is not owned by an entire network of special interests. This is the rub... when you run for President, you need donors and endorsements... if you get elected, you are enslaved to your donors and every other donor that supports everyone that endorsed you. Trump doesn't care about any of those people, and promises to do only what is best for the USA. His version of "best" all focuses on the economy, well being, and safety of American citizens... and that's exactly what I want in a President. Really sorry if anyone has a problem with those priorities. I don't know what will happen. Nominating Trump is a gamble. He's not well liked by many people, but Clinton has the same problem. The difference is I believe Donald has the ability to convince people he's the President we need right now, and Hillary can't convince people to change their mind about her... she's burned her bridges, she has an evil demeanor, and people just don't believe her. December 28, 201510 yr comment_819630 Well I never liked lobbies in any system, either do it in the open or don't do it at all. In Belgium the political party's get most of their $$ from the state itself and every expense is booked and made public. Support is needed, you can be the best man for the job but some jobs require you not to have the best plan but to have the most support. Basically neither side has many bridges left standing sadly. Running a country on 50%+1 is something that backfires every cycle but sadly also reinforces the game itself. I am just glad that I know this can happen even in the US. Report

So I'll take the risk with Trump if my fellow Republicans want to do that.I honestly believe Bush is a good guy, but I fear, like his brother, he'd be run by lobby placements. A single individual like Trump can't run the executive branch, so what if lobbies don't have him in pocket, the entire US Congress is in the lobby pocket. Your congress answers to lobbies, who are controlled mostly by corporations or foreign governments. The corporations in capitalism have only one objective, I.e. to increase the value and wealth of its shareholders. Majority of the shares in corporations are usually held by few rich guys giving them the controlling voting bloc. General public buys shares in stock market, normally for speculation reasons etc and they are are screwed by few rich guys doing asset.management using super computers to buy and sell shares, these asset management companies in turn are investing money mostly of few rich guys. Normal public mostly has social security funds that are invested to keep up with the inflation, and they generally are the first ones to be liquidated when shit hits the fan, and then they're forced to pay the tax money to save the people that screwed them, in turn, theirs assets go up for foreclosures and the few rich guys mint off money on dirt cheap assets using the tax money the guys who got screwed paid. Some of these rich guys by the way then end up in Congress or in cabinet or key positions of power after their retirement from private life with monies stashed in tax free havens. The law as interpreted by supreme Court in US thinks this is perfectly fine, why offcourse, the law makers themselves are part of the few rich guys clique. This is to different degrees true in many parts of the world and is not an exclusive US problem, but the thing is, the people on US really have what it takes to take back their lives and remind who is the boss and who is the worker, not the other way round as it is now. So yea, once every few years, to keep up the charade, few rich guys run a circle called elections, they let some others play, but they write the script. However Mr. Trump has gone off the script here and it is not sitting well with the powers that be, but Mr. Trump, if he gets elected will be reminded on every step who really runs the show, because Mr Trump, by himself, can't really run the show. He'll need.the money eventually, he isn't going to give away his billions as a charity. Edited December 30, 201510 yr by Shahenshah Report
January 12, 201610 yr Author comment_822469 Well the debate on Thursday will be cut down to 7. They cut Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina to the under-card debate. I would have liked to see John Kasich there as well, but I guess he's polling stronger in Iowa, so they allowed him in. The absence of Rand Paul will be enormous. He was the Libertarian of the group, but he crashed head first into the ISIS problem, and he never recovered. Thursday on Fox Business, (FBN), I'll be watching it probably Friday morning because Thursday night I bowl for the championship, and after that I will be seeing the new Michael Bay movie "13 Hours - The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" in a special premier screening. It opens Friday, and is said to not be political at all, the names "Obama" and "Clinton" are never mentioned throughout the entire film... but I will bet money that the big question at the end will be... "Why were they left there to die?".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGl2flB0Idk Report
January 12, 201610 yr comment_822542 I am very much looking forward to 13 Hours. I've read several books on the incident and my favorite so far is Eyes on Target, by Scott McEwan. While only part of the book focuses on the Benghazi attack, it offers a plethora of information on the event. It gives a detailed timeline, several possible rescue scenarios which could have been carried out (3 if memory serves correctly), and a US House Progress Report on the attack. All the statements by our Government and State Department about their lack of ability to prevent, stop the attack, or enact damage control, gets completely blown out of the water. I agree with you Lys that many moviegoers will ask the inevitable question at the end, "Why weren't they evacuated due to the blatantly obvious warning signs of an impending assault?" "Or why wasn't increased security and manpower given?" Report
January 12, 201610 yr Author comment_822563 Thanks for that DM. There has been too much "cover your ass" on the Benghazi issue. From the lie that it was a protest that turned into violence, to the denial of the stand down order, and right into the BS that no one had time to help them... it has been one fabrication after another. It's a dishonor to the memory and sacrifice of the Ambassador, the diplomat, and the soldiers that were killed that day. We never heard about the soldiers that held a higher priority than politics, that went in against orders to save many American lives, and disregarded great danger to themselves in the process, until these guys came out of the shadows to tell the story. The reason the Ambassador, and so much CIA personnel were there to begin with, will probably never be known. It's shrouded in a blanket of "classified", but one line in the movie should raise eyebrows. "We're not even supposed to be here". The general assumption is that weapons were being smuggled out of Libya, and into Syria to fight Assad. Clinton probably feared another "Black Hawk Down" situation that burned her husband so bad before, and decided to take the chance that it would not be such a big deal. She lost that gamble. It was a State department operation, Obama didn't want to be bothered with it because he had to get on his plane to Las Vegas to campaign, and he can't be hampered with an international incident. Hillary went to bed, without handing over control of the operation to Defense... I guess that would be just too embarrassing. The guys on the ground said if they were not delayed, the Ambassador would be alive today, and if they had a simple fly-over of air support, the attackers would have backed off, and no one would have died that day. This is on Obama and Hillary... they did this, and tried to lie their way out of it. It's a dark day in our history, when our leaders leave our people behind on the battlefield. That's never supposed to happen. I for one, want the truth, and proper respect to the families of the fallen. I guess this belongs in a Republican debate thread as much as anywhere. Report

January 14, 201610 yr Author comment_822750 Well, I'm not a legal scholar, but I can tell you what's going on. Ted Cruz was born in Canada, his mother an American, and his father a Cuban. The term "natural born citizen" is the debate. It has never been taken on in the Supreme Court, so it's determination is still up in the air. Some believe that if you have an American parent, it doesn't matter where you are born. Some believe you have to be born on American soil to be a natural born American citizen. Two examples have come up recently. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, with an American mother and a Kenyan father. Some believe he was born in Kenya and wanted him disqualified. If you side with Ted Cruz that he can run... then you have to concede that even if Barack Obama was born in Kenya, he would still be a natural born citizen. Another example is John McCain. He was born in Panama, with American parents. The Panama Canal zone was American territory at the time, so problems with him running never got off the ground. If Cruz wins the nomination, Democrats will object and it will go to court. It really needs to be finally determined by the Supremes. Hope this helps Report

You would have to ask Newt Gingrich, and the Republican Congress at the time, that crafted the budget and gave him no choice but to sign it. There is no Constitutional requirement for Congress to maintain a balanced budget, and it has been horribly abused. Constant spending of money you cannot possibly earn is a fast road to ruin, and when the Federal Reserve raises interest rates to where they have to be, it will become crystal clear how badly Obama has hurt the country with his uncontrolled spending... we have to pay the interest on that 20+ trillion dollars. That's why the Fed has not charged any interest on money for 8+ years, and our money isn't worth the paper it's printed on. We have to reduce the debt, and the only way we can do it is to cut spending and create an economic environment that generates more tax-payers. Our population has exploded to over 310 million people, and our labor participation rate is lower than it was in 1975. We're in serious trouble, and someone has to do something about it. Trump will not go after Cruz too hard on the citizenship thing, because I think he's got him pegged as his running mate... but he really can't let him off the hook on the issue because Trump believes Obama was born in Kenya, and never should have been allowed to even run... so he will not close the door on it, but will let the courts settle the issue.
