This year is gonna be a big year for Hollywood. In my knowledge this will be the first year that 4+ movies will cross the billion dollar mark.

Star Wars 7 and Mockingjay 2 are still left to opne. Star Wars will ease through the billion dollar mark maybe even leave Titanic behind. Not sure about Mockingjay but since this is the last movie may it can too.

So for the first time we might get 6 billion dollar movie in a year!!!

On that note which movies have you watched this year?

What are the other 4? :)

This year I've watched Crimson Peak (very bad story, but nicely filmed), Southpaw (I found this a very emotional, but good one) and Chappie (reasonable, but wouldn't watch it again).

And maybe more, but I don't remember them at this moment.

Definitly still going to watch The Avengers, Inside Out and The Martian this year.

What are the other 4?

Jurassic World, Furious 7, Avengers and Minions.

Fact: In it's 100+ year history, Universal Studios' Furious 7 was the first movie to break the billion dollar mark for them. Then Jurassic World instantly became the 2nd billion $ movie for universal. And then Minions became the 3rd!!! What year for them. Also Minions is the 1st non-Disney animated movie to hit billion.

I will see Spectre next week... I've been waiting for that, but I really hate crowds so I will go after the rush on an afternoon.

I thought Hunger Games was pretty good, Catching Fire even better... the third one was boring, so I think it hurts the ticket sales of the last one. Star Wars may beat Titanic if it has the staying power of filling seats for weeks, but movies have taken such a hit with their sky high prices against home theaters, and so many different ways to see movies now, that only the diehards that can't wait awhile to see something continue to throw their money away at a theater.

There are too many bad movies out there, and I leave the theater thinking it wasn't worth how much we spent. Netflix and Cox Cable gives us much more than we can ever watch, with little risk if the show turns out awful... and it happens a lot. I'll take Game of Thrones over any of these 3 hour epics that I can see for almost free in a couple months time.

Edit: I have to say that I was very surprised with Guardians of the Galaxy... corny movie, but the music and Chris Pratt made it so fun that it was well worth the price of admission. Also, if you get a chance to see Begin Again with Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightly... do it.

Agreed but watching a movie in a theater has a grandeur of its own.

I don't know about the USA movie-goers but here in Pakistan the crowd reacts a lot by dowsing the screen w/ boos, tears, applause; they get thoroughly immersed in the movie. Its actually an entertaining experience like watching sports in a stadium.

And I think Star Wars will run through Jan easily. I mean ppl have been w8ng 4 30 yrs for the sequel. And the new gen fans will come too and since Disney is making it, you can safely bet that it'll be good.

Saw Spectre last week. It's a good movie overall, but the plot is on the one side a bit complicated and far fetched (mostly because they want to connect all the Craig Bond movies together) and on the other hand very predictable. The action is ok, but if you except Spectre to be just as good as Skyfall was, then you'll be a little disappointed.

Sir!!! Skyfall was anything but good. The ending especially was like home alone for adults.

I thought it was brilliant... we finally got to see where Bond began and understand who he is.

When it was announced that Daniel Craig was going to be the new Bond for Casino Royale... I said "You gotta be kidding me...", but when I saw Casino Royale in the theater, Bond was a brand new character and everything he should have always been.

In the Craig movies. I found that w/ each movie the quality fell.

Casino Royale was awesome. It was a 'Bond' movie in every way. Solace was fine too. But Skyfall was really meh....

The only really memorable movie for me was Mad Max: Fury Road, but DAMN, that was awesome! Saw it twice in the theater and I rarely do that.

Well I saw Terminator: Genisys 2ice. Awesome!!!

Especially Arnold v Arnold was spectacular. Who would've thought that. Certainly James Cameron didn't have this idea. Its incredible to live in this age of innovation.

I heard bad reviews about Terminator so havent seen it.

The standouts from this year that I can remember are probably MI5 (pretty awesome all around) and Everest (nice story, good scenery).

Jurassic World (loved it)

San Andreas  (again loved it)

Next will have to be the new James Bond film, as a family of 4 usually wait for Blue Ray, but looks like this is a must for the Cinema,  and we all want to watch it

I just saw Jurrasic World last week finally. It was pretty good. Chris Pratt has quickly become one of my favorite actors.

As you can imagine, I saw Avengers: Age of Ultron and loved it. I think that overall the first Avengers was better, but the entire Marvel cinematic universe is fantastic. Antman was pretty decent as well and for a little known superhero, it did well. Marvel announced the sequel (Antman and the Wasp) for 2018.

I will see Spectre next week... I've been waiting for that, but I really hate crowds so I will go after the rush on an afternoon.

I'm looking forward to Spectre. I'll see any new Bond movie. Daniel Craig has been pretty great as 007. Casino Royale was awesome and Skyfall was pretty good. The only real blight I can think of is Quantum of Solace. It was very unmemorable for me.

I loved Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel Cinematic Universe again). Chris Pratt was hilarious as Peter Quill and the soundtrack for the movie was excellent.

I'm looking forward to the second part of Mockingjay. I've read each of the Hunger Games books multiple times and think that the movies have generally done a decent job following the books. The first part of Mockingjay was slow, but don't let that be a reason to discourage you from seeing part 2. If you haven't read the books yet, you won't be disappointed in the ending.

I saw both Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys on the plane to Hawaii. Both are another sequel, out of many, making new money off of old ideas. Jurassic World was the most entertaining of the two, but seeing Daenerys Targaryen shed her British accent and kick ass alongside her real life boyfriend was worth the time.

I will see Mockingjay 2... I have not spent these last few years watching all these movies to abandon it in the end. I'm quite sure it will redeem itself from the obvious money grab that Mockingjay 1 was. Hollywood is hurting for original ideas. All too often we are now seeing movies more interested in special effects, and less on quality content. This is why we see so many remakes and sequels... when it costs so much to make these films, it's safer to throw the cash at an old money maker than a new and risky franchise.

Agreed. We see more and more adaptations of novels/books making their way to the big or small screen.

I warned you :)
