[Sister Midnight]

Little known artists and songs are like gems that you want to show off.   Why not tell IRON all about them?  I'll try anything once, maybe twice even.  So share your hidden gems.

I was listening to Itunes on random and Sister Machine Gun came on.  I LOVE SMG!  I saw them live about 8 tears ago at a tiny club and ended up in the tiny, not very violent mosh pit (I don't mosh - ever, but it was worth it).  Chris Randall, essentially is SMG, although he did work with other artists, who's name I can't remember.  Chris's voice is like pure sex.  I'm very aurally oriented, so if someone wants to get me in the mood, the right music goes a very long way  helping that along.  Chris Randall singing End of me, is a very good bet.  Not his best song, by far, but OMG that voice!  Those lyrics!  Give me some fur-lined handcuffs and put End of Me on and, well, things might get very sticky.

Take your pick. I haven't heard a ton from them, but what I've heard is pretty good.

Maybe their rendition of the star spangled banner...

Their lead singer recently left the band, so I haven't heard anything with the new guy yet.

Probably aren't into melodic dubstep much, but lately I've been pretty into MitiS and MaHi. Probably my two favorite artists ATM, although my favorites in music change at least once a year or so. Two different artists, but friends IRL and similar in sound. They also have several songs together. I just really like the mix of classical with modern sound.

Ahaha, was wondering if this sort of thread existed. Unfortunately it's dead.

I..honestly know jack shit about this band, but i've not been able to stop listening to this song for a while now. Like when I try to go to youtube, chrome thinks what i really want is that video and gives it to me as my first autocomplete. It's quiet and bitter and melancholy and just damn perfect. it also earns itself a stop on the list of covers I like better than the original.

Hey Random I really like it, but I kept waiting for the big hook that never came. I remember the first time I heard "Round Here" by Counting Crows way back in the 90's on VH1... it began like that, but by the first chorus I was on my way to buy it. Thank you for sharing.

I've actually got a lot of shit to post here, but i'm limiting myself to one a week or so.

It's a lot faster and the chorus theme is a bit hookier. I don't like it as much as Girlpools cover, but it's still good.

 

 

Also bonus round entirely because this one is new new to me as of 20 minutes ago and ahhhhhhh. I'll probably post some more of Meg Myers stuff in the future because holy shit is she awesome and this is breaking that one a week rule, but fuck it she released a new single recently and now I have something to listen to on repeat until i hate both it and myself.

Ben Folds is not an unknown gem, but he is one of my all time favorites, and much of his talent goes unnoticed. Maybe you guys have not heard as much from him as you should.

mmh Ben Folds. Talented, but I cannot with the guys voice. Dunno why. 

 

It's been a week, so new song. Actually planned on some screaming females anyways so the fact they've released something new in the last couple days is good.

 

 

I don't know if it's my favorite thing they've done that'd be this , but marissa paternoster  does pectualar things with that guitar of hers. Not cutting loose nearly as much as they did in the past which makes me kinda sad. Does have the advantage of being rather more listenable  than some of their past stuff though....

 

the cover/colab of Because the Night with Garbage  that sold me on the band however, and I bascily didn't stop listening to it on repeat for a good month.  

 

 

because anyone who can stand up next to Shirley Manson like that is impressive as shit and quite frankly that solo might just qualify as pornographic in parts of the world.

Wow! Shirley Manson!.. singing a Bruce Springsteen song. In the 90's my eldest daughter had a couple favorites. Garbage and No Doubt... when she was listening to Shirley, I was listening to Justin Currie and Del Amitri. Great memories.
