Five Dallas Officers killed, 6 wounded

Featured Replies

Its not about guns....

Nation's deadliest day for police since 9/11.

Throughout history, evil people will take advantage of chaos to carry out their twisted pleasure.

Seeing a police officer kill someone, does not give you legal or moral authority to begin assassinating members of law enforcement. We do not rule by Anarchy.

Apparently one of the shooters claims he hated white people and wanting to go on a killing spree. Now that a bunch of white cops police officers are dead, am I justified in grabbing my firearms and gunning down every african american I see? Absolutely not! But apparently its okay for african americans to riot, cause millions of dollars worth of damage, and murdering white people is justifiable because black lives matter and we are oppressed, yada yada yada.

You have a grievance or problem with the way this country is run, then sue and work your way through the
Courts. Call your legislators and demand action or more accountability. Rioting, causing millions of dollars in damage, and blatant murders because you want revenge is never acceptable.

Don't add fuel to the flames.

I said this isn't about guns. Its about people being stupid and letting their emotions run wild. Liberal news media loves these tragedies. 'Unarmed black man murdered by white cops', we are running this story 24/7, we will interview Jackson and Al Sharpton, and when this powder keg ignited because of our meddling we will be there to cover the story. Our ratings will go through the roof!

If you slapped me, you can't tell me i'm wrong if I turn around and decide to shoot you in the head.

The police brutality in America is something that has been going on for years, not just with ethnic minorities, although moreso.

It should really have been expected that it's only a matter of time before somebody explodes when they're continuously pushed. I don't condone killing cops or anyone for that matter, but it doesn't seem to us outsiders like your country gives a shit at all about the police brutality that continues to occur

How long is this excuse going to hold value? This isn't the middle ages anymore where every king with a proper amount of people behind them can overthrow 'governments'

My heart is too heavy from this. I just got up and this is the first thing I saw online.

Hate begets hate and it feels like there is no end, no willingness to empathize with the other side. I realize this is an opportunity to shout out your rigid beliefs, but people are dead and lives are ruined. The ramifications of this event are so far reaching, it is beyond comprehension. As we get on our soap boxes please keep in mind that we're talking about human beings.

No one could've summed it up better.

The things that minorities have had to suffer esp blacks in USA is disgusting. No other 1st world country has that much rates of hate/race crime or police killing innocents.

Blacks are full Americans not 3/5ths. Every American minority is as much American as the white population.

Not a fan of violence but you can only be pushed so far before you do something this dreadful.

If a cop slaps you, you don't hit back. If a cop tells you to do something, you comply. If a cop does something illegal you inform them you are against it. If they continue to ignore the law, then you let it go. Once its over, you turn around and sue them for everything their police department is worth for violating your civil liberties. Can't afford a lawyer? No problem, someone will gladly take the case for you since if your rights really truly violated, then you will receive monetary compensation.

Don't act tough, don't be stupid, don't argue, don't act like a a gangster, don't be disrespectful. You look them in the eye and reply with one of these 'Yes officer, No officer, Can you repeat that because I didn't understand.' Do not make them uncomfortable and do not give them any reason to suspect you have an ulterior motive.

Do not avoid eye contact, keep your hands in the open, do not swear, make racist comments, or complain, and do not ever threaten.

As ignorant as this sounds, if people wouldn't act like morons and just cooperate, none of the recent police shootings would ever escalate to the point where an officer feels that you are a threat to their safety. Like I said, doesn't matter if you are being mistreated or falsely detained. Now is not the time to resist because you will not win. 'But my rights are being violated and I want to start a fistfight'. You may be right, but it won't accomplish anything and will only make the situation worse.

I would like to share a police procedure that exists in a city I live close to. Police officers in that city do everything they can to avoid pursuit of a fleeing suspect in a vehicle. Once you reach a certain speed, they will disengage the pursuit because of unsafe factors. Unsafe for pedestrians, other drivers, the suspect, and the officers. So they have a workaround. If a pursuit begins and it is determined you are clearly a criminal (most of the time it ends up being the suspect having a history of drug or assault cases), the officers will radio and position a car in front of your determined route. While still chasing you, once you near that determined point, the waiting police vehicle will fly out from a side street directly and drive directly in front of you stopping the vehicle. Now you only have a couple seconds to swerve or you risk hitting the car. Either way, it doesn't matter if you swerve or hit the police car. Because now you its attempted murder of a police officer in the line of duty. All bets are off and they are legally allowed to use almost any means necessary to detain you and stop you. Could you make a case that this method is borderline illegal? Absolutely! Yet no one (as far as I am aware) has chosen to challenge it in Court. The city is largely democrat elects, so that right there is automatic sympathy points and lawyers would have a field day. But has anyone done it? No they haven't, because people would rather fight it out in the streets as opposed to solving the problem once and for all, in a 100% legal manner.

I 100% agree, well said.

Also, it was apparently a black supremacist group: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Rzar-8eQ6asJ:https://www.facebook.com/blackpowerpoliticalorganization/+&cd=1&hl=hu&ct=clnk&gl=hu

Yes, those exist too. Not only whites can be racist.

So essentially in your opinion the citizen should be responsible for proving cops wrong rather than cops having to demonstrate that they adhered to the law? That is definitely backwards.

No, it's about getting out of a risky situation without harm. Survival instincts and all that. THEN you take the officer to court, they should have car/body cams etc which can be used as evidence.

So essentially in your opinion the citizen should be responsible for proving cops wrong rather than cops having to demonstrate that they adhered to the law? That is definitely backwards.

What would happen is the citizen brings his complaint, and the Police would have to prove that their actions were within the law. The victim would also have to show evidence as to how what was done to him is against the law, etc, however, the onus is on the Police to prove they were, in fact, within the law.

I do expect police officer's to uphold the law to the best of their ability. In the event they do not properly abide by the law, then fighting back while being handcuffed, dragged out of your car, or falsely arrested will only get YOU hurt, It is simply not worth it. Live to fight another day.

This a racist attack, let's call it what it is. Black lives matter, brown lives matter and white lives matter, all lives matter. The police brutality in no way justifies this. We can argue that police brutality is part of the discourse but is not the justification. There is a difference between the two. The police officers who were shot and those who were killed, were they part of any brutality? Anyone could have been shot intentionally or unintentionally, including civilians.

Whenever I've been asked to stop (minor silly traffic offenses :P), I'm just respectful and do EXACTLY what is requested of me. There have been times I've been just let go because frankly, the police didn't expect me to be so polite and respectful, they expect you'd argue back and justify whatever mistake you did. It has become kind of a subculture to shit on them for everything, it's a shit and miserable job as it is, not every police officer is crooked. I've managed to talk myself out of multiple minor fines by just being a decent guy towards them.

Every legal job deserves basic respect and basic politeness, be it a toilet cleaner or some CEO. 4chan and Hollywood isn't RL, basic human decency is.

You make it sound so easy.

It really really really isn't.

There are cops out there that are actually seeking out an engagement and waiting for you to give them a reason to shoot you or do you harm. And realistically they don't need a reason, if they wanted to they will create a reason why they handled a situation the way they wanted too.

Giving the 'Yes sir, no sir' responses aren't guaranteed. Especially if they're seeking an engagement. I've seen situations like that and even been involved in situations like that when I was younger. The full on innocence replies can infuriate them more because you're not giving them the reactions they are seeking from you.

When you go through these type of situations frequently, you begin to not trust the cops at all. Especially when you've grown up in a poor family, bad neighbourhood etc. There's no single protocol that will work for every type of encounter with a police officer.

I personally wouldn't want to comply with police in America, because I simply know that as long as i'm in their custody they have the freewill to do with me as they want, behind closed doors with no evidence. I love myself and I love my life and I find a situation like that more life threatening than anything else. Sandra Bland 'mysteriously' died while in American police custody.

Politeness gets you far with the cops. Act respectful and you'll be treated with respect. Act stupid, well, you know what happens.

Not true.

It can, however it is never guaranteed. If an officer is looking for an engagement with you, he will get one

There have been people that have served decades for crimes they didn't commit, had their family killed by police officers and watch the police officers get a slap on the wrist with paid leave, etc

You think their little complaints have weight?

If guns and rascism aren't the issue, why did this happen then?

From the various newsoutlets I checked, this guy is the brother of the person who firstly organized the walk in Dallas, he had a full open carry permit that weapon (as you can in Texas) AND it took twitter 2 minutes to properly debunk his involvement with clips of him during the shootout clearly showing him not doing anything with the gun. Heck he even peacefully surrendered his gun (GASP, HIS 2ND AMENDMENT!!!) to the cops when asked and went with them for a statement taken at the police HQ.

Also, what is this? No usage of the singular, no usage of deragory adjectives, heck we europeans might call this a "PC" quote >_>

^This. This incident isn't surprising at all. In fact, it should have been expected. Nobody learned anything from the Baltimore riots and until something clicks in the thick heads of cops, the violence will continue. It's heavily fueled by internet access. Police can't whitewash their bullshit anymore.

I agree with you Black Rook you going to have a few bad cops around and there no good way to tell which from which. And this man was in the military too which sickens me because a soldier is suppose to defend their countrymen not go around and murder cops. I'm a soldier myself and this man is no better than the Taliban.

I wouldn't say a 'few' tbh.

532 people have been killed by US police officers in the last 6 months.

Organised terrorist groups don't even hit that number.
