Favorite "Ancient" Culture

So thought I'd start a fun poll out of curiousity.

So what is your favorite old time culture? I tried to include all the large ones and I realize Spartan is Greek, but I felt they had a unique culture to themselves.

I also included an other option to not flood with options but leave a choice for things like Mesopotamian, Babylonian, etc.

Also why is it your favorite?

I'm split between the Spartan and Viking cultures depending on the day, most Spartans have always been one of my all time favorite.

The warrior culture of Sparta always intrigued me and how advanced tacticians they were for their time. The society itself I felt had an interesting setup with Sparta giving women more freedoms and liberty than many cultures of that time. They could recieve an education, participate in competitions from dancing and singing to athletics, they could own and manage their own property. They were allowed to participate in activites as kids with boys (shirtless as the boys as well, an unheard of equality in that time). The laws always facsinated me as well. Laws such as a Spartan Warrior could not retreat even to the last man, and only a man dead in combat or a woman dead from.childbirth may have their name on a tombstone. Of course the way they raised youths was rather harsh (ignoring a crying toddler to teach resilience, placing children in the dark to overcome fear, etc.) That part minuses points and is sometimes why I view Vikings as a better culture.

This is a hard choice. There are so many cool ancient cultures. I can't really pick one. But a few favorites:

Vikings for their hard lives and sea fairing accomplishments.

Egyptians for their extremely old and mysterious architectural megaliths.

China for their ancient history of competing dynasties and philosophical ideas.

Japan for the samurai culture and cool mythologies.

Rome for their politics accomplishments.

Mostly though, I find greatest interest in the very ancient megalith cultures. Like Egypt or the early Indo-European cultures that spread into Europe like the Beaker culture. The ancient cultural phenomena of building megaliths is amazing and confusing.

Indian. I might be biased thou haha

Apart from that, like Ccabal, I always liked Romans. The best thing about them was that they were so free and advanced for their age and so,so powerful! :D

Maybe the Assyrians for coming out of no where and opening a whole load of whoopass on Egypt, Babylon, etc.

The Mongols / Hun trashing of Europe makes for interesting reading.

Though the Greeks ran some interesting political experiments. The Macedonians had a very interesting empire.

So many others for so many reasons.
