just a little clearing up but why so hard on sojourner? he's new to the game and may not fully understand how cop roles work. i think it would warrant an explanation at worst(as you gave) but no reason for an FoS or vote. the same goes to junk and anyone else on the sojourner wagon.

My FOS was for rolefishing. I have no problem with him misunderstanding the cop role; He is new, that can happen. I have a problem with him saying that he thinks X is the cop. I couldn't think of a good reason to post that you think X is the cop. That will just help the mafia, as you may have picked up on a hint they have not. Therefore, I thought that he was perhaps trying to get some more opinions on who the cop might be. It may have been just a rookie mistake, but I can't just let him off the hook only for being new. Therefore, I thought that my FOS was a good way to put some more pressure on him and make him answer me.

well it's like this: i'm new too but i'm not going around telling people i think x is cop, y is doctor and z is psychiatrist. i'd love to go around telling people that i think "x is scum, y is a sk and z is a fool". sadly, i can't say anyone gives me any scum vibes except for sej. and you guys protecting him is kind'a getting on my no0b pride... if there is such a thing.

random voting in my opinion is worse though.

Still too random after all the posts? Surely there must be something! A gut feel, a twitchy arm, a sticky finger... anything!

Afraid to commit eh?

I think I'll overanalyze the scenario.

The MSG Secure Hospital for the Criminally Insane (MSGSHCI)

"We don't call them inmates, we call them patients."

The patients are townies.

... a Nurse chivvied one of the patients into his cell, who had his head down.

We have a Nurse (doc role?).

... but the guard in the corner of the room watched carefully.

We have a guard (cop role?).

... made by the few people who were left on patrol.

There are others on patrol (masons or trackers?)

... where that one patient stood up from his bunk, and quietly unlocked the door. Something was about to happen.

One special patient (serial killer or godfather?)

Just my thoughts ...

I like your thinking on that Kevin. There's good clues to be found if we all go back and look. I don't know if this one will pan out though. That seems like a lot of pro town power roles for this many people.

I hope the voting picks up. There are still lots of people who say that voting is the best way but have not voted for anyone yet. If we don't vote to lynch someone today then how are we going to pick up on voting patterns later in the game? It will be just like Day 1 started all over again. Did someone say dejevu? Well, I guess it won't be entirely the same, we'll have 1 less townie.

As for me I'll be keeping my vote where it is. I said I'd keep my vote here unless someone gives me greater cause to change and that hasn't happened.

Also I think that whoever replaces Calderone will most likely be a townie. I have always thought that if you have a power role you're more likely to stay interested in the game. Well now that I read Mole's statement again it says his whole acct was deleted so now I guess I don't know. If he doesn't get replaced by the time Day 2 starts then we might be able to learn more about his role. For example, if there are no serial killings until Night 2 then he has a good chance at being the SK. (no killing night 1 due to inactivity but night killings start after he's replaced.) Something to think about.

I think Day 1 will end up with No Lynch. Mafia strategy wins me thinks...

Falzis, I understand your rational for wanting more voting. You seem to be quite pushy about getting people to make uninformed and uncomfortable choices. This makes me uncomfortable and I'll be strait with you, a bit suspicious. I don't understand why you are so adamant about this. I think rather than taunting and pushing people to vote your time would be better spent bringing forward some evidence for who we should vote for. Clearly, the problem is we don't have someone who we feel needs to be voted for rather than our desire to vote.

Do you notice any patterns or have any evidence against someone? Hopefully besides Sojourner and KevinH since those two both have been discussed to death.

No it's just because I think no one will be lynched on D1 because people are keeping their cards close to their chest. And that to me is scum tell.

Ok here's what I think. Frankly, I think either sojo is really scum because at this point still, no one is jumping on him so it must mean his Mafia friends aren't voting because Mafia would have jumped already on someone (assuming they number around 3 people in this game) to push a lynch. And no one wants to vote as the fourth person for lynching sojo because that would still make the half majority rule.

Secondly, I'm eyeing Martino and Narsis suspiciously because they have been saying quite persuasively and consistently that is in the town's best interest to lynch someone on D1 yet they haven't put their money where their mouth is. This paradoxical situation - saying lynching is good yet not voting for anyone - is giving me scum vibes as they could be prodding people to vote so that they can vote as well so as not to make their voting patterns conspicuous.

Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable but I just find it inconsistent to say on one hand we should lynch yet come deadline you don't vote.

VOTE COUNT

sojourner (3): Electric Mango, Falzis, junkahoolik

KevinH (1): Sir Jesus

No Lynch (1): KevinH

Not Voting (8): Kaziocore, Aquinas, Narsis, Theophilos, Nerau, Martino, Calderone, sojourner

With 13 alive, 7 is needed to lynch.

I need a replacement for Calderone, who doesn't want to replace. Our lined-up replacement, StrayJ, is also unavailable. If you know anyone who'd be willing to replace get them to shoot me off a PM.

Deadline is THIS THURSDAY.

@Aquinas - It could be any time after 8PM GMT on the thursday. Just whenever I can.

AS OF PAGE 12, IF ANYONE EDITS THEIR POST, THEY WILL BE MODKILLED, REGARDLESS OF INTENT.

first, all three mafia may not have voted or want to vote. jumping on a bandwagon without any good reason looks highly suspicious and mafia tend to want to avoid that.

second, if i place a vote it will be a vote with a strong argument behind it. i'm not about to throw out a random vote on someone just for the sake of voting. you learn nothing and it can actually be counter productive to vote patterns.

FoS: Falzis for faulty reasoning.

It's a stretch to conclude there are masons or trackers but I don't think they are that powerful that they would unbalance the game.

There is a voting history whether we lynch or not. Those that push for a lynch are known whether the lynch actually occurs or not.

Who concluded there are Masons or Trackers?...

Well, at least I got you guys to post.

Where's the faulty reasoning btw? Looks like you got quite defensive. An OMGUS FoS if I ever saw one!

Fishy fishy...

i was just pointing out that your reasoning for why sojourner is scum is flawed. you assume that he is mafia because he isn't dead yet. you say that if he was a townie then the mafia would have voted and he'd be dead. however, what if the people already voting him are mafia? and what if none of the mafia are voting? what makes you so sure that mafia would vote him if he is townie? it happens to be major WIFOM.

as for being defensive...over defensiveness isn't a scum tell and i'm not being over defensive.

I guess everyone is jumping all over me because I look stupid, cause that is what I am. I really don't understand this at all. The question I asked a few post ago

It was in this corridor where that one patient stood up from his bunk, and quietly unlocked the door.' Does this mean that the scum is trying to kill the others in the hospital or leaving the hospital to do it?

was just answered by Kevin, since townies means the other patients.

I read through Wiki on this game and I am going to read through everything again and see if I can make some sense of it all. I hold my vote til then.

No you're not stupid. You're just learning the ropes (or hopefully not coz you might be suicidal and hang yourself... being in a hospital and all).

@Narsis

Yeah it was a major WIFOM. I would have said it after N1 but Aquinas was prodding me to and that was really my observation. You asked what if no mafia was voting - that's my point. I think no one's voting to lie low and avoid having patterns read. I'm just pressuring you all. vgm's not here so someone's got to be pushy. I'm almost always online so I like to provoke a response here and there.

Usually I rely on my instincts to point me towards the scummiest player, but at the moment I am not getting any definite signs from anyone. Soj doesn't seem to scummy to me, if anyone can provide a solid reason why he's scummy I'll vote for him. Other than that, I can't feel any real scumminess from anyone.

Unvote

I think I'll overanalyze the scenario.

...

There are others on patrol (masons or trackers?)

Who concluded there are Masons or Trackers?...

KevinH concluded that the were masons/trackers based on the first post story

Sometimes there are scenarios that give clues about the game. Sometimes they are just "fluff" without real meaning.

To give more context, here's more of the quote

The sound of footsteps slowly echoed through the corridors of the institution, made by the few people who were left on patrol. The inhabitants of this miserable place were now mostly quiet in their cells.

The "few people left on patrol" could easily be non-playing characters, for all I know.

On the other hand, they could be trackers or masons. I'm not concluding anything -- just throwing out a suggestion.

I am glad that someone is finally talking about the scenario. I am still interested in the cop. If we lynch just anyone, won't we be taking a chance on offing the cop. This seems like a bad idea if the cop character will help give us clues. So the odds of killing the cop at this point in the game with a random lynch are what?

So what if these other characters exist...the nurse, security guard, psychiatrist etc. How does that change the odds of a lynch?

Still need some of the basics, I guess.

sej, your recent actions made me even more suspicious of you...
Please explain yourself. Also, Sojourner could you please try to explain again why you posted that you thought that EM was the cop. What were you trying to achieve?

I really prefer to lynch, but if Sojourner can give me a satisfactory answer, then I don't have anything against him. So that would just make it a random lynch, which doesn't give us much information.

There are 13 of us so if 1 is the cop, then the chances are 1/13. (You can more correctly deduce that a person who is not the cop has a 1/12 chance of lynching the cop.)

If there are more pro-town roles, we don't want to lynch them either. So if we additionally have a doc and a tracker that makes the chances 3/13 of hetting the really good guys.
