MSGSHCI - Game Thread

The MSG Secure Hospital for the Criminally Insane (MSGSHCI)

"We don't call them inmates, we call them patients."

Night was falling on the hospital.

"Alright, into your room, come on..." a Nurse chivvied one of the patients into his cell, who had his head down. He slowly obeyed, but the guard in the corner of the room watched carefully. The Nurse began to shut the door, when suddenly a scream came up from a nearby cell. The guard turned. The nurse shut the door quickly, and turned to leave.

The patient's eyes, previously dull and submissive, became alert. He looked up quickly, and reached through the small window in his cell door and quickly plucked a key from the Nurse's back pocket. He withdrew his arm quickly before she turned around to check the cell had locked itself. A quick tug at the door, and she was satisfied enough, hurrying off to deal with the other patients.

The sound of footsteps slowly echoed through the corridors of the institution, made by the few people who were left on patrol. The inhabitants of this miserable place were now mostly quiet in their cells. Those who refused to be quiet had been sedated, and a slow calm was descending upon the place. Water dripped slowly from a leaky water pipe above one of the corridors. It was in this corridor where that one patient stood up from his bunk, and quietly unlocked the door. Something was about to happen.

Misleading.

Inactive Nerau would mean one less vote for townies (if townie), but also one less vote for scum (if mafia). That would mean if Nerau is scum it's one less vote to bandwagon Day lynches.

Mafia have NK powers and voting powers. You're glossing over the fact that if Nerau is scum, he couldn't vote or speak as well. So scum has one less bandwagon vote and one less propaganda voice.

You've mislead discussions more than once (ie. validity of No Lynch strategy through partial quote from mafiawiki).

Misleading.

Good point. I'd like to see Kevin's response to this.

hello hello hello! as mole said i won't be saying anything top do with my previous role if i can help it. now then let's here my thoughts shall we?:

First, I don't see what the big deal is against EM. He clearly stated in the post that he was just trying to think outside of the box, and wanted people's opinions on the idea. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it.

Second, i don't really think that Falzis is scum. he's playing a good game so far. same goes for EM, Aquinas, and Martino. SJ and Kevin seem to keep my eyebrows raised though so to speak. kaziocore is well...i dont know.

Third, i also await Kevin's response to Falzis' accusation.

and that's all i really got for now.

Narsis lives! Oh how lucky to be able to play twice. And yey for thinking I am not scum. =))

That aside, I think I need more Theophilos. Yoohoo where are you?

3 mafia = 1 night kill

2 mafia = 1 night kill

1 mafia = 1 night kill

Do the mafia really need the help at this point?

Please note that Falzis brought "No Lynch" up again, not me. I won't say anything more regarding that.

Nerau could have been scum or could have been townie. I need active townies in the end game and Nerau definitely would not have met that need.

But Narsis is back and he'll be active. Welcome!

First: Hey Narsis and welcome back :)

Second: I know, I know I'm too inactive <_<, but by the time I stop spaming our embassies, do my 8 TC's and stuff I'm in no mood to post here as well ... not that it's an excuse just sayin' :P

@Falzis: now before I'm accused of defending someone, etc. ... Kevin didn't mislead with his quote, he linked the whole page, he just used the part that put emphasis on his argument. And that's all I'm saying on that.

I don't see Kazio as scum, perhaps SJ, but before I FoS him ... I'll need more ...

EM ... well I did FoS him at the start of this day, he's last statements tend to prove my opinion a bit more (to me that is).

I would point out the role Falzis and EM played on D1 and D2 for each other (the "lead" and the "supporting" actor) and the fact that they are now "almost" convinced of each others scuminess ... but have always just barely found some sort of argument to vote for someone else and only FoS or accuse each other ... perhaps it's just me but I still feel confident that they are scum and that they are using this tactic to get townies away from each other by dispersing townie vote.

OK, I'll expand a bit.

Sure, the scum would prefer that they have an active player and it's a disadvantage to them if they have a inactive player.

However, any lynch that kills a scum is a good lynch.

The point I made is that an inactive scum doesn't stop the night kill.

I don't feel it was "glossing over" an obvious fact when my goal is to lynch any scum I can.

Yes but the point was that your support for SJ's logic of killing off Nerau is questionable. Why would you lynch a player who is inactive, hard to make a case for, and is neither help to townie or scum anyway versus a player who is active, has lots of evidence to make a case for, and is more trouble if scum (bandwagon vote and propaganda voice)?

I think if you or/and SJ are scum, you thought you could try convincing the town to lynch Nerau as an inactive given the verbalized willingness of some people here to lynch inactive and non contributory players versus active ones (ie. sojourner, Kaziocore, party101 way back).

Kevin didn't mislead with his quote, he linked the whole page, he just used the part that put emphasis on his argument. And that's all I'm saying on that.

Ok that's your perception. But you are alone. Even Martino, and Narsis I think, believed it was misleading on Kevin's part (Martino was the one who shot Kevin down).

"Lots of evidence to make a case for"

So are you glad that you lynched Sojourner the townie?

An inactive townie player hurts the town team worse than an inactive scum player hurts the scum team.

I'll go a step further: an active player that leads the town to lynch townies is not helping the town.

(Martino was the one who shot Kevin down).

Please link the post where Martino shot me down. It will be tough to do since Martino hasn't posted after I said I'd support lynching an inactive. Who's misleading whom?

VOTE COUNT

Falzis (2): KevinH, Theophilos

Kaziocore (1): CanucksDynasty

Kevin, I and Theo were talking about your partial quote of the validity of a No Lynch strategy at mafiawiki. Theo said you weren't misleading, I think otherwise. Martino shot you down for it as well (please look back pages 5-10 I think).

You misrepresented my post lol. Who's misleading whom?

Now that I reread it, I see that I was wrong. I apologize for implying that you were misleading when you said that I was misleading when I said you were misleading.

Which is?

Your poor reasons for voting soj.

That you, Kaziocore and SJ are somehow linked.

Nothing you have said and done has dissuaded Theo and KevinH vote on you.

And it hasn't changed my opinion on you as well.

It doesn't really help much to post very short reasons. "Poor reasons" is so vague but nevertheless my reason for voting soj may not be bulletproof but it wasn't exactly poor either. As I said before, it was logical, but not all logical things in the world turn out to be correct.

Also, you don't state what the link between the three of us is. Is it because we all voted for soj?

It would really help to be more clear with what you say. I'm not liking short posts from you or Kevin.

And since you bring up the matter of Kevin and Theo's immobile votes, isn't it more townie to change votes than just pin your vote on the same person everyday? Especially when, you don't help in hunting for scum. Just because you have one target (ie. me) doesn't mean you should stop hunting for other scum.

It's usually people who change votes that are more likely to be townie since it shows a sign of uncertainty, a characteristic only townies possess not knowing who is scum and who is town.

Oh well. You still have one day to mislynch anyway. At least if I die, next day you will be more or less sure who is scum. And it won't be me.

1. I've put my head and neck too much out there to be a mafia.

First, it's very easy to make enemies from fellow townies and be perceived as such thus losing fellow townie confidence.

Second, on the flip side, it's also much much easier to be painted as an enemy by scum and be made a scapegoat, which I think I am being made now.

2. Sojourner's death cannot be solely placed upon me and cannot be a scum tell for me.

First, the argument saying that I redirected the chopping block on my head to sojourner cannot be true since I didn't intend to do that and this thread would show there was no systematic or planned method of leading the town to kill sojourner. Granted that I do want to save my own neck, I could have just continued to push for Kevin's head. But what happened was I had a spontaneous moment of enlightenment (which was proven to be not so... *sad*) and from there on people agreed with me.

Which leads me to the second point, that other people are as much if not more to blame and FoS than me. Simple. I made the case first, they jumped on it. If people's assertions that mafia would want to hide as much as possible whilst picking us townies 1 by 1, then it would have been extremely foolish for me to make the case for either Kevin or sojourner and be obviously blamed as scum for it. It is those who agree on the sidewalks that should be looked upon in suspicion. He who is not scum casts the first stone. I casted the first stone.

But thirdly, let's assume without conceding that I am scum. Let's look at a comparative analysis of a scum (me) blatantly pushing for a townie (sojo) kill. What are the costs versus the benefits? The costs are high. Fingers would be immediately pointed at me once the next Day begins. I will be the most likely candidate for lynching. On the other hand, the benefits are minimal. Yes I would be able to push for a townie kill but the trade off will be my head. Are there other benefits? None. Sojourner wasn't particularly much a threat to me or to anyone. The town wouldn't be losing a much needed voice (in terms of contribution to the discussion and scum hunting) so I as scum wouldn't gain much from it. Simply, it's not worth it for me if I were scum to push for sojourner's head.

Lastly, my case against sojo was logical but much like most things in life, just because it's logical doesn't make it correct. I got it wrong, but I based it on a logical analysis.

Might I remind you of this post of mine which I believe to be quite excellent. Kevin agrees that it's a solid defense yet has still voted for me.

The cost-benefit analysis alone would absolve me.

Regarding Falzis' defense, I think he makes a good case and can't really argue against it. However, I don't see anyone else that would make a better candidate. The fact remains that he pushed for the lynch of a townie.

EBWOP to above post as proof of Kevin's agreement. Make what you will out of the seemingly inconsistent stance. If he thinks the case is good and can't really argue against it, why would he vote for me? ^_^

The fact that I pushed for the lynch of a townie is one of the core premises supporting my innocence in my defense. So why use that as a reason to vote for me if you agreed with the defense? Plus, does that make me the better candidate? There are so many of us to be made a case for.

There are other people who voted for sojourner. I was the first one. A glaring unscummy move (putting your neck out there!! ring ring) if I ever saw one.

@EM - you are entirely correct in that it is still possible that Falzis is a townie. I have some thoughts about that but will wait to share it once Falzis returns and see what he has to say.

Could I possibly know your thoughts about the possibility of me being townie? And why you voted for me despite those thoughts? Just for more info you know. ;)
