I have found with Fedex deliveries, I always had to have them ship to one of their stores. I used to live in an apartment complex and they kept just leaving packages in plain sight next to my door. (I lived on the top floor and there was no next door neighbor, so there should've been plenty of hide-able spots).

That's strange.  I've had stuff come through Fedex and they won't leave it at my door, because I live in an apartment building.  Normally, I have to either go to their depot in Montreal or their local office depending on the size.\

I think you can file a claim if you never received your item.  Either that or dispute to payment with your credit card provider.

To be honest, if your monitor was stolen, dispute the payment.

FedEx is going to have to eat the bullet on this one. I work accounting and payables and deal with things like this.

Example: Right now, I'm having to backtrack $34,000 in purchases and my company may very well have to bite the bullet on about $30,000 of that. Why? Because OUR guys didn't turn things in properly.

Same with FedEx here. They didn't deliver properly and that leaves them liable. It isn't taking advantage of anyone really. It's sadly a common thing among industries to have a set reserve aside for liability purposes. I'd say save yourself the headache and wait for the replacement. Otherwise, it'll start a whole new chain of reactions on NewEgg having to redo their numbers, FedEx having to fix there's, you'd have to open a claim for damaged delivery. etc, etc.

Well I got my replacement, it's more what do I do with the first monitor that the person brought me a week after because they were on vacation when it was wrongly delivered to their house.  I was told in the note that the first one got rained on as well, so it very likely may not work (I haven't opened box).  I opened and am using my replacement one that was sent (I knew should work since it didn't get rained on).  I can contact Newegg and say I have the first one, I can ship it back....but even if I do that, are they going to really then payback Fedex, or they just going to get it, open it up and see if it works, and then resell "open box" and make profit off it, while already being paid by Fedex for losing it, so making double off a single monitor.

I could call Fedex, but as far as they were concern, they called me and told me they couldn't find the package, and closed the case on trying to find it.  So for them, they were done trying to find it and thus just payback Neweegg.

I'm self employed, so I am always home when big stuff is delivered, but I have purchased all my computer hardware from Newegg, and they are the most awesome company. So whatever it is, I'm sure they only want to make sure you get your monitor, and you're happy with them. You have already had a bad experience, and if you are happy the way things are right now, just drop the issue as far as you are concerned. If they want to call you, contact you, come by to pick up the monitor... then that's up to them. If you got what you paid for, there is absolutely no reason for you to be inconvenienced any further. Glad this worked out for you. I know it took way too long.

I will say Newegg has been great.  This was the first time I've used them to buy from, as I usually just buy from Amazon since I have prime, but they were quick on delivery and were very polite with dealing with fedex losing my package.  The only gripe I could say is that they don't request signature upon delivery for all their items, especially for more expensive items.  Though it wouldn't of mattered at the time since it was delivered to wrong house anyway...when ordering it said it would come Friday on my day off thus why I bought it that night, it just came a day sooner, for which I can't complain when something is delivered quicker then expected.

I appreciate the kind words as well, I too am very happy it'll worked out.  I am more happy to know that it got delivered to wrong house and it wasn't stolen.  The idea people in my neighborhood had the nerve and willingness to steal a package off my porch hasn't sat well with me, so it's a relief to know that wasn't the case.  I have since bought a security camera overlooking my porch, which even though nothing wasn't stolen, it's probably not bad to have anyway.

The biggest thing with all this, outside of the idea I thought it was stolen was how this all would work out.  Since Fedex said it had been delivered...I feared that I was going to be out my money if they couldn't find it with nothing to show.  What really kinda irritated me was dealing with Fedex and the person I spoke to when I first called saying they said it was delivered but it wasn't at my house.   I was talked to as if I was lying to them or trying to pull something on them.  I'm sure they're are scumbags who will get a package and then file a claim they never got it to basically get something for free.  I couldn't be further from that type of person as I all I have in my life was earned and self bought as it's how I was brought up and lived my life.  So being talked to by Fedex like that, as if they don't believe it wasn't there and that I'm lying pissed me off a bit.  I kept my cool and just let it go, but wasn't happy.  The two individuals i spoke to after that person about the case however were not like that.

When we lived in an apartment that was the same way.  They either left a note on my door saying they were there and tried to deliver but no one was there, and you could sign the paper to have them leave without a signature the next time they tried to, or they left it with the main leasing office of the apartments and went down and picked it up from there.  Hasn't been that way since buying my house on things I've ordered

Newegg and FedEx have longstanding agreements regarding delivery. There are reams of contracts about lost, stolen, and damaged products, as well as insurance and liability claims, and on and on. What Newegg knows best is that their customers do not have those same protections, nor do they have the unlimited resources to absorb the loss.

I'm a businessman, and my wife is in the restaurant business, and from my experience, Newegg has little concern about the monitor you purchased from them last week... they care everything about who you will be buying your next monitor from.

Normally I would not want to do something that might hurt someone or anything around the realm of theft. For companies that ship things though I have no remorse, they always complain about having no money, being understaffed and terrible working conditions; Yet almost all of that is within their realm of control. Take your extra monitor and enjoy having two screens

Why I select "pay cash on delivery" option wherever possible.

I have literally never seen that option. Is that common outside the US?

I haven't seen a cash on delivery option in the US since the 1970's. Probably not a good way of doing business when most of the time the products are sent back to the seller for non payment.

US residents rarely have that option. I think the last time I heard about it being offered was in the late 90s. Some TV ad on a random product stated they actually accept cash on delivery.
