[MK-3] Pick Your Power X/Y - Town Wins

Pick Your Power X/Y Mafia

Mechanics

At the beginning of the game, there is a draft to determine the order for the bidding on roles.

Once this has happened, each player will send in the role they'd like to be. Only one role from each "slot" will be awarded.

As such, in the event multiple players select the same role (or the same "slot"), the player highest in the draft order wins the role, whilst the others remain Vanilla.

Roles are then distributed and Day 1 begins.

Throughout the bidding phases, the thread is locked, however, mafia may collude privately during this time and then again throughout the day.

Step 1: The Draft

Once alignments have been dealt out, each player must send a (whole) number back to the mod, with the lowest unique number winning the draft. Second place is awarded to the second lowest unique number and so on, until all unique numbers have been exhausted. Next placed on the list is the lowest doubled numbers, followed by the next lowest doubled numbers, and so on. Continue this same process for triples and quadruples.

In cases of multiple players selecting the same number, the higher placed between these players is chosen randomly.

Step 2: Bidding for Roles

Once the draft order has been determined, each player PM's the moderator of the game with the role they'd like to be. Roles are unisex, in the sense, that they can be selected by Mafia or Town. So, it's possible to have a Mafia 1-Shot Vig or a Town 1-Shot Vig, and so on.

Here are the list of roles players select from:

1)Night 3 Vigilante OR Vengeful

2)1-Shot Vigilante OR 1-Shot PGO

3)Cop OR 1-Shot Redirector

4)1-Shot Commuter OR 1-Shot Watcher

5)Doctor OR Roleblocker

6)Universal Backup OR Role Cop

7)Neighborizer OR Fruit Vendor

8)Jailkeeper OR Tracker

I'll be back later. Away all of Sunday, tomorrow afternoon. Back to normal on Monday.

Brewers makes good points on The Warrior.

MK please confirm if it was random or we could choose.

I know the answer, but can you confirm it please

@brewers - since you are apparently certain that either Robert or myself are scum, why don't you carefully consider exactly what we would have gained from killing him. I cannot speak for Robert because I have no idea what he is but how does it make sense that we would gain anything from killing KitKat? Kitkat drew attention to himself with his joke post. The fact that my name was mentioned was insignificant to anyone who actually knows Kitkat's playing style. The only people who actually considered him serious were players unfamiliar with his game. Even if I was a scum that was somehow outed by a joking KitKat (I'm not), there wasn't any actually serious consideration pointed my way from it. I wouldn't have been in any real danger of being lynched and therefore the scum choosing to kill kitkat would do nothing but bring real attention to me when there wasn't any previously. It would be a stupid play to make.

And look at what actually happened? KitKat was killed and look who had the finger falsely pointed at him? Me. Do you not see how that was set up?

And for the record, I have no idea if roles were assigned or chosen out of each group of two. That was not an attempt to misdirect anything.

With MK commenting about the flavor text having meaning, does anyone else have any takeaways from it? Kevin, iSoc, Rafay? Any thoughts?

The roles are random.

That is, of the 2 in the set.

The way that the roles were presented in the OP seems to indicate that only one role from each line could exist in the game. Is that correct or am I reading that wrong? // This is correct.

Looking at the actual actions which took place, there is a funny coincidence.

I have to make a correction to the text.

Instead of TW, Robert2424 was supposed to be there.

TW's name was in my cliptray, so his name got posted there.

That doesn't mean TW didn't do anything or didn't have anything done on him, though.

Tw said he could of been. Mk posted wrong flavor.

Well, I feel if there is going to be flavor it's going to have some sort of relevance. Now that the flavor has been changed from me from the warrior, I'm a bit confused. If we try to take the story at face value, I was stopped. But I don't see a point in animating it if I was supposedly role blocked. I would say the same if it was TW. Just more odd with me cause it's a waste. All mk would let on is there's a role blocker as I can't do any anyways. The more interesting piece is seebee dancing naked in the street. I'm afraid tw put together what it could mean at face value then I could. I'd rather wait for his serous comment on it.

Also tbh, kit Kat would of been an unlikely target candidate for me if I were to be scum. I'd aim for an inactive, or an experienced/individual I thought be hard to convince/deceive for easy kill with less suspicion on me. I would of likely aimed for somebody like isoc, a bit of experience, not sure if I could convince him, and he's not super active. Win, win, win.

Not sure why Lego thinks brewers point is so good against tw. If I really wanted to try to Lynch somebody and start a wagon. My one and only reason was cause of a day 1 joke that probably went over most people heads and don't remember anyways. If it's a gut feeling say it's gut. I mean I'm not very awake right now, but I wouldn't think it be something I'd be successful with. Usually 2-3 things that points somebody as scum that isn't day 1 related would be a solid argument.

I feel mk is giving a mixed message about the story. I think it has some merit at the very least. But none the less perplexing.

Looking at the actual actions which took place, there is a funny coincidence.

so with the mistake in the text and robert being who was meant to be used, not TW, this line right here is leading me to think that perhaps TW was the one who roleblocked robert, which in turn would make that a funny coincidence

The fact that the flavor text has deeper meaning makes things interesting. I don't know how much we'll be able to decipher until day 3 though by looking at possible repeating events and such.

Everything i posted in the introduction text and will in future texts, are not random and have an reason why it was there. Figure this out(get somewhere close to the answer) and you will get the real reason.

Everyone's been focused on the night 1 flavor text, but disregardingeverything else. While there isn't much in the intro to go off of, it does specify crime AND drugs. With SBG running around naked and high during night 1, it could signify that he was targeted by a fruit (drug) vendor. Or it could be a typical Tuesday night.

A tired writer was driving to his home, in his Prius, after a long day at work.
When he was stopped dead in his track.
In another part of town, SeaBeeGipson was seen running around naked. He was apparently high.

11 hours later....
Robert2424 was commuting to his workplace, when he stopped his vehicle. A huge crowd had formed on the road.
There was a Prius lying crushed on the road, but no sign of the driver.

Forensics indicate there was some fight last night.
On tracing the identity of the owner, it was found to be of one KtKat16, a controversial writer in the Ninok Times.

Recently, he had made public a recent big deal, involving drugs and this was the retaliation.

KitKat16, Vanilla Townie, went missing on Night 1.

Reading this, to me, the first paragraph signifies the activities of last night. But the interesting part is the "11 hours later". I don't think that necessarily happened at night. While it's difficult to deduce a power role either being used by or on Robert, it reads more as "the beginning of day 2".

If we want to read it at face value however, I'd be inclined to believe we have at least a roleblocker or jailkeeper in play for sure. We already know the roles are random, so it's quite possible we have no doctor.

Reading the interaction between The Warrior / Brewers is intriguing as well:

I cannot speak for Robert because I have no idea what he is but how does it make sense that we would gain anything from killing KitKat? Kitkat drew attention to himself with his joke post. This reads to me as super defensive. Saying that you were framed by the mafia, or at the very least, being given undue attention. I wouldn't think you'd have a lapse of judgement to make a mistake like that (as you claim), but it could be an attempt at reverse psychology.

HOWEVER, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt for now. As while the back and forth is interesting, I think Brewers is the one who needs the spotlight.

GoldIron (4): The Warrior, Lachiton, legoboyvdlp, iSocialism

A lot of people have a lot of explaining to do.

Terrible that KitKat got killed. He was targeted due to his activity most likely.

Idk why what I wrote showed up in the middle of the quote bubble but let's try that again:

Or KitKat got lucky when he made the joke about who was mafia and one of them was, so they wanted everyone to know KitKat was town right away to remove suspicion off them as it was clearly just a joke now

Emphasizing Kitkat's joke post early in the game where Kitkat claimed he, Robert, and The Warrior were scum.

snip

1) correct there cannot be a commuter

2) he was probably targeted by the fruit vendor and ate the fruit which was tainted with drugs

I still think either TW or Robert is scum, since Kitkat was very controversial, so the scum could have easily left him alive to be lynched, and the only reason I can think of is that he was actually right with one of them being scum, and kitkat was drawing attention to them with his jokes.  Right now im leaning more towards it being TW.  He was driving to work at night, and who does work at night? vigilantes work at night (Batman).  I think TW was playing dumb about not knowing how the power roles are asinged, and he has a killing power role and is indeed scum, thus trying to throw us off his scent.

Vote:  TW

Obviously we now know Kitkat's post was a joke. However, Brewers is coming off as overly adamant with constantly bringing it up. On day 1, while the theory was flawed of lynching KK, I could see the logic behind thinking it. I'd think if the mafia were truly afraid of Kitkat, they'd be better of ignoring him with the claim that, "oh, it's Kitkat. He's a joker. Don't take him seriously". The fact that you're still on this train of thought reeks as pushing an agenda and the train is about to derail.

I do agree with you there.  Since drug dealers are typically considered bad guys, would it be reading into it to much to assume the role is an evil version of the fruit vendor?  Or is it perhaps just a way to make the role seem more fun and less lame?

If it was Lord Sunday I would argue that its just a typical night, but SeaBee is totally a responsible human and would never do drugs unless someone sold them to him in a mafia game ofc :P

I don't believe that to be incorrect. I could see Fruit Vendor / Neighbor being high on the list. While the fruit vendor role would be a bust (to my understanding of it), the neighbor role could be very powerful in mafia hands. A mafia member in two factions could be more dangerous than usual.

Fruit vendor could be good in a game where it's for sure town cause then u could confirm your role by proving who u visited and thus proving your town but in this game u could still be either town or scum. So there isnt much value to it. It just creates cool flavor text since it's a drug dealer now lol

Honestly, some very interesting perspectives from the whole flavor text. here's what i know:
I hate the mafia for killing my favorite author in the ninok times.
TW is being super defensive about the joke post.
Lachiton strikes me as innocent.
Legoboy is FOS for me.
i feel like what brewers said about the drug(fruit) vendor being the scum version is true. Although i would like to wonder about whether or not the mafia member(if true) tried to go for neighborizer, and instead got drug dealer.
while on the topic of brewers, he seems very adamant that one of the three mentioned in kits post is scum.

I also just realized something scrolling up:

On tracing the identity of the owner, it was found to be of one KtKat16, a controversial writer in the Ninok Times. Recently, he had made public a recent big deal, involving drugs and this was the retaliation.

it could mean that one of the people kits talking about is the fruit vendor, further proving their innocence.

Im in the Personal Relations For Ninok Times Department, and i can tell you kits death struck us all hard. may kit go to kitkat bar heaven.(mm)
*i wonder if my wife is making lasagna tonight, that sounds good. She can make a mean meatloaf!*

I know I'm no longer supposed to post, but I think I can get away with a row of smug emoticons at this post.

:smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

@GridIron watup?

@FrigidInfernao: How did you mention KitKat in your post. Like how his name became a link?

I think if you highlight their name above their avatar and then copy and paste it, it pastes it like that as a link

@legoboy whats lylo?  according to urban dictionary:

likes to jump off tall things, i used to think he could be a lylo as in beach lylo, he scares people by eating toothpaste and his nurse theories...
