For those who haven't figured the setup out.

The switch roles are in mafia hands.

But they can only turn off 2 switches, in order for the 3rd switch to do the factional kill.

An individual Mafia can't use both their action and factional kill the same night.

 

They can of course choose to use all 3 switches, but that means that can't kill that night.

 

Then there's the matter of the SK having the ability to reverse the state of the switches.

 

So the sk could say, reverse the cop switch, which is in most cases likely to be turned off by the mafia, in order to take the chance of getting the cop to find the Mafia members at the smaller risk of getting themselves investigated.

A 3/13 v 1/13 chance gamble.

 

Similarly they could screw around with the mafia with the vig and doc switches.

 

There's switches of different importances to different factions.

 

The vig switch although usually the one not used often in the actual mafia scum forums, might not be the least used in these forums due to the Torres effect.

This is gonna be tough to win as town. We need to take the game pretty seriously, since with 10 town and 4 scum, we can end up at a disadvantage really quickly. Just as a hypothetical, it could take only two mislynches, plus the mafia and SK shooting each night and turning the cop and doctor switches off, and we'd already be down to 4 town and 4 scum with no information, and that's assuming the vig doesn't try their luck too. I'm not necessarily advocating for a no lynch since we'll need all the information we can get if the cops never get to do any investigations, but we may not get a few free nights to lynch people for no reason.

Our biggest problem is that the cop most probably wont be usable for the whole game.

 

Lets say SK is more afraid of mafia so he choosed immunity from mafia. Now he's no interest in touching the cop's switch ( and its almost 100% certain that mafia will switch it off).

 

Therefore we cant really expect to get any information outside of lynch wagons, so waiting is not really recommended.

 

If we start lynching right from D1 (without Vig's involvement), then worse case scenario we loose after 3rd misslynch.

If we nolynch today (and not use vig) then worse case scenario we loose after 2nd misslynch.

 

Thats why I believe lynching from the very beginning is the most optimal. Also the more wagons we get the easier will it be to find townies in case of a scum being killed by SK at night.

People do this all the time on D1 tbh, it's an easy way to justify a vote on a day when there's basically no information (technically with a N0 there could be, but it's unlikely because of the switches). I get it though, it's not really funny after a few times lol. I am a bit older than you though, so can't really confirm is this is an old man take or not.
