Just got in after a late day at work, and wow theres been a lot of talk and quoting of other peoples' messages @.@ I guess this is what I can expect each day, huh. I'm not really sure where to begin, but with that many votes cast already I guess I'd better start picking out SOMEONE. I havent ruled out using a random number generator yet, but I have to start trying to figure this paranoia thing out sometime. Since everyone's got their "Looks like townie" lists, my own so far includes: Canucks Dynasty & Kaziocore - The two of them did the analysis that basically proved mafia didn't give us cop or detective, which became generally accepted and changed the way all of our votes were going ... I dont know who else to put here yet XD My first thought was to go with ccabal in saying spec ops because they're inactive, but if they were mafia then odds are the others would be screaming at him to come in and post to get rid of the inactivity rationale, right? So I guess not him, though on a personal note it does somewhat disgust me that he signed up and hasnt even really checked in. Has Narsis sent a poke PM and/or put him up for replacement yet? I was suspicious of KevinH for immediately attacking CD, until CD later revealed that the "he must be scum!" line is an inside joke :-p Way to confuse the newbie guys. ... I really dont know how to interpret all the analysis everyone is doing yet. Eh... I swear, everyone's mostly choosing frivolous reasons so far anyway, so I may as well do the same. I was going for the 'everything has a counter' idea, but that could be too - getting into action vs passive is a little over my head at the moment :-p And now I guess the flurry of accusations begins? Also - when I read about the last game, everything started with sortof a flavor/npc event to get the ball rolling; I guess that's not happening this time. Wow, CD already has a list @.@ You're picking up on some subtle stuff I guess. Or maybe just overly twitchy/random stuff O.o I actually think ccabal has a valid point, or at least something worth asking - who else hasnt said anything yet? Ehh... yeah, I'll wait a day or so to learn how this works before putting in a vote (there's no sudden death like with the mafia roles is there?) Didnt realize that; ah well. The second paragraph I hadnt thought of - that they might mistake someone protected by a doctor for the bulletproof, and waste their roleblock trying to force kill him. CD - thanks for the scenarios. I kinda get how the janitor is powerful now, and agree it's not worth doing. That narrows it down to Bus Driver/Role blocker then for the third. I'll also take a page from EM here and lock in my vote on the first two now: Vote: Godfather and Ninja for now Also, since CD has a good analysis of what roles mafia would have given the town and we probably have a bulletproof - can the roleblocker block bulletproof? Vengeful explicitly says "Cannot be roleblocked", but bulletproof doesnt say anything like that. If every town role is meant to have a corresponding mafia weakness, it'd make sense for bulletproof's weakness to be the roleblocker. If that's the case, then I REALLY am unsure about giving them the means to get around our one invulnerable guy... thoughts? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions; this is probably one of the few days/evenings I'll get to be really active here, so I'm trying to make it count -Preston

Thanks for the links and the explanation ccabal! I think the most helpful is that the first link actually stepped me through a full 'game' so to speak. I'm still not sure I understand why some of these roles would be powerful in practice, but I think canuck and kaziocore make a persuasive argument for godfather and ninja. So the ones left for the 3rd vote are bus driver, 4-shot roleblocker, and 1-shot janitor. Martino seems very... passionate, about janitor not being an option - would you mind explaining yourself a little more, possibly with a scenario for how it would be used? Actually a usefulness scenario for all three of them would be useful; I'd thought the roleblocker was the most powerful from the descriptions since it could totally STOP anything. My understanding of the roleblocker (and please tell me if this is wrong) is that if there are two people A and B they think could be the doctor protecting each other, mafia could block one of them and try and kill the other. If A is the doctor and they blocked him, then B would die. If B was the doctor and they blocked A, then B would still die since doctors cant protect themselves. Maybe I'm totally missing something, but this seems dangerous to give them... At the moment I'm kinda with canucksdynasty in that the bus driver still seems less useful, so I'm more likely to vote for that - can I get some more thoughts on the matter? -Preston

Hey all! Glad to see this starting - it's my first time playing so I'll probably mostly defer to people with more experience, and please dont mind my asking stupid questions on the way. I'm also less available during the week for heated discussions (Narsis suggested I look in on the last few days of the last game and wow - people were ACTIVE) due to work, but if I'm about to hit the 2 day inactive barrier in a way that matters please PM me (Narsis?) and I'll make sure to poke my head in here. So yeah... so far the two people who seem to have lists people are agreeing with are KevinH and Martino. Both of you sound pretty convincing to me, but I'll wait a bit before putting down my votes until I understand a little more about how things work - I'm second-guessing my original thoughts as it is Would someone mind explaining the what these roles we're picking can actually DO in the context of the game? I mean I can see the description and all, but I'm obviously missing some subtext or tricks for usage if for example bus driver is as powerful as ccabal suggests - Id originally thought it was pretty silly from its description.

Never done this before... but I was somewhat amused watching the last one, so count me in!
