  1. Kind of a random thought here, but we've been focusing on who should die first and be the first shooter and all that. But what about the last shooter? Any plans for that? I'm also wondering if we might have people willing to be the last shooter. Or among the last at least.
  2. That's just the thing. Thoughts help the town. You want to post what you think. Thinking is good. Posting is good. Resistance is futile. Ok...got carried away so maybe not the last part (I can't help but think that sounds familiar from somewhere). But yeah, the only people who don't always want to post what they think are scum.
  3. This kind of goes with what I was saying earlier. The blind sheep statement without much else discussion. If your going to follow fine, but it just lacks that substance for why he is for (or not against) the idea. And of course, without the reasoning, it could just be scum trying to play safe, as I also mentioned earlier. Now, you might be saying, wait a second vgm, he's just a new guy. Maybe so, but that doesn't mean he can't say what's on his mind. I still remember my first game, and while it did get me killed, at I least I spoke my mind. Some other players also fit that bill. The other thing that bothers me (and it may just be the way I'm reading his posts), is that he seems anxious to kill people / have them killed. Just screams "red flag" in my book.
  4. At least somebody does.
  5. I don't know why, but I get the feeling Mango enjoys killing me early. I feel like Ovidius >_> (how's that for an old player reference? ). About the both scum comment, I already explained about the math and several others have backed me up on that saying that 2 scum is indeed the most likely. Both may not have been the correct word to use, but yet, I feel it still applies in this situation. For me being suspicious on you Mango, all I said was that your comment of not knowing how the town wins rubbed me the wrong way. (post #22 under win conditions for reference). However, you are trying to come up with a way for the town to win (or so it appears that way). All I did was point out potential flaws. It's better to know the weaknesses in a plan then to assume it's all strong and follow blindly. And you know what. While I won't act obviously as I want people to get their thoughts in, I could see you as being scum Mango. You suggesting that I should be the first to die is interesting. But I look at it this way. While I'm not in disagreement with your plan or Narsis's or Kevin's for that matter, I'm not following like a blind sheep either. I'm trying to raise objections so our plan becomes stronger and not just filled out with random names or whatever. And call me crazy, but the people who are saying that (I agree with whoever) would appear more scummy on my radar in all honesty. Anybody can say that they agree with such and such and try to play it safe as they can, but it takes somebody to voice her opinion, whether for or against a plan. If that gets them killed, so be it, but it's better then saying yes to everything. Saying yes to everything is what scum either want or want to do (depending on which side of the coin they're on). If your scum and the sheep follow you, you can get through with little to no problems for at least a while. But if somebody raises their hand and speaks up, the scum start to sweat. And I think that if I die and your scum, the sheep will follow into your hands, just so you can herd them up and watch them kill each other one by one. I don't know. I just find it funny how I'm the only one pointing the stuff like this out and the first to possibly be on the chopping block.
  6. As far as inactives go, in a normal game, they don't really pose much of a threat at all, but in this game, every townie without a used bullet hurts us. Which I'm guessing is what Kevin might be getting at when he suggested at.
  7. @Sir Jesus - I'm assuming your new (I don't recognize your name in the mafia arena), let me explain. Now, my numbers may be off as it's been some time since I last played (not counting the recent mini), but iirc, the size of the mafia is roughly 1/4 of the players in the game. So in a 12 player game, one would suspect there to be 3 mafia members. With this being a 9 person game, mathematically, 2 sounds like the number which has the highest probability of happening. Also, him?
  8. @Kevin - Narsis I could see, but Mango, while good intentions I'm still not sure on about the "how the town wins" comment. Still rubs me the wrong way to be honest.
  9. 5/10 I recognize the avy, but that's about it.
  10. Just for clarification on the both part, it is basically speculation as you said. But with 9 players, 2 scum would make sense in my opinion.
  11. While the idea may work in theory that if player 1 kills 9, 2 kills 8, etc or whatever slowly eliminates the scum surely, you have two problems. The first is, the order itself. What if scum are among the first to kill, and player 5 makes the wrong choice (so both scum are still alive)? Another is, while a screw up could make it easy to find scum, the scum could play along with the order in an attempt to prevent being caught. So really, I fail to see how it might work in practice. Also, I find your comment interesting about not knowing how the town wins. If you are indeed a townie, you would know that the town wins when all scum are killed. Or if you're referring to if it's 2-2 with no bullets left, I believe scum would win (I believe that's how it worked in the previous style game, though Mole can correct me if I'm wrong). That's correct.
  12. @holyomgida - your wallpaper is awesome. http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8635/surfergirl.th.jpg

It was Mole...or was it you? (dang it mole, I wanted to do that. )
  16. Missed out on this the first time. I'll try it. /me shoots mole. While I doubt we'll start so soon, I won't be here tomorrow or at least most of the day (going to Baltimore).
  17. The problem with Kevin claiming so early (in my opinion) is town might think he's scum taking advantage of the possibility of there being no cop so there'd be nobody to counter claim so somebody might have voted for him anyways. Should he have done it eventually, probably. But not right from the get go. But I do agree how their should have been more talking before such a vote was made on a lynch or lose day. Oh well. Live and learn.

  19. It's Mike's birthday and he was a little bit hungry? Or he's just a cannibal to begin with.
  20. Nothing, but 5 minutes ago, I had a bowl of Lucky Charms.
  21. Dunno what to rate, but I can't help but think that the term "New Age Betsy" comes to mind. He's the Betsy of the new generation.
  22. As far as the role PM goes, it may be a simple case of you being more observant then the rest of us, or it could be a double bluff as mentioned. Most of the time, when people see they're a vanilla townie, they may just assume they win when all scum are killed. In my own opinion, a scum is more likely to ask a question about that then a vanilla townie will. There's also Kevin's remark about how your automatically a townie due to what you did which raises eyebrows as well. However, and just my own thought on that, Kevin had less questionable posts then yourself. Yeah, there's the change in style as has been mentioned, but it's a reasonable change due to how this game is played. And I already mentioned that. With the chance of no cop, you gotta take action. However, one thought that has been on my mind. There is the fact that Kevin immediately unvoted you after that incident with basically no explanation. There's also the OMGUS vote, but this early in the game, I may be willing to overlook that. At this point, I'm not all too sure at this point. I will say this. You both have your question marks. You, for your actions. Kevin, more so for his words (and his one vote). However, they say actions speak louder then words, and unless I'm convinced otherwise, it looks like I'm keeping my vote on you. But, if you are scum, and nothing else pops up, I will say this. Kevin is next up on the chopping block. In my mind, one of you (if not the slim chance of both) is scum. It's just a matter of picking the right one at this point.
  23. Pretty much what Narsis said. Just because your new doesn't really mean a whole lot. Let's say you and person A were scum together. This person could tell you different play styles to watch out for, advise you on what to do or not do and even voting strategies.
  24. @Mango - deadline is actually tomorrow.
  25. I was going to say about it myself, but Oranges beat me to it (concerning Kevin). But yeah, I was pretty much thinking the same thing. While I don't really agree with the whole no lynch thing to begin with in most circumstances, Kevin is at least making sense. I don't know if he likes to rely on the cop or what exactly, but if there's a 2/3 chance of there being no cop, you kind of have to take action into your own hands. So as far as the voting goes when it comes to Kevin and the voting on the first day thing, I think it's just a bunch of crap to be honest. More so considering the circumstances (and the smaller game), where you can't really afford to wait to begin with. And to be honest, providing Kevin himself isn't mafia, I would be willing to bet money that one of the people to have voted for Kevin is mafia, as for the reason I said earlier, that trying to vote for Kevin's change of play is taking advantage of an easy vote.
