Texas Justice II - GAME OVER!

Endgame - CLICK ME

TEXAS JUSTICE II

During the night, you hear a shot echoing from the town hall. Each townsperson alerts the other, and slowly a small crowd of people, each carrying a rifle, run to the hall. Slowly, carefully, you search the hall. Entering the Mayor's office, you see Mole Stargazer shot dead, his blood leaking all over his desk. Clutched in his hand is a note, written in a hurried scrawl.

"People!

The town is not safe! The mafia are about to kill me, I've not given them money.

Find them! Shoot them! Hur

The note trails off into a scribble, adorned with blood. Looking around with a shudder, you realise there are Mafia amongst you. The doors are slammed shut, and the rifles are readied - but you're willing to try discussion first.

Not:

molestargazer, MAYOR, shot dead in the night.

Aquinas, TOWNIE, shot dead.

Electric Mango, TOWNIE, shot dead.

Falzies, TOWNIE, shot dead.

Sir Jesus, TOWNIE, shot dead.

vgmmaster, TOWNIE, shot dead.

Narsis, TOWNIE, killed in endgame.

KevinH, TOWNIE, killed in endgame.

The Rules (Slightly stolen from the Speed Game, which was stolen from an upcoming game I'm planning, and modified)

1. This is game. Enjoy yourself.

2. No editing or deleting posts.

3. No talking outside the game thread unless your Role PM states specifically that you can.

4. No quoting any PMs from me. Doing so will get you modkilled.

5. This game has no lynching. Instead, every player has ONE bullet which they can use to shoot a person of their choice.

5-1. If you die before you use your bullet, tough. You can't use it once you're dead.

5-2. There are no days or nights. It's just one big day.

6. To shoot someone, simply use Shoot: molestargazer. Once you have shot someone, you can't undo it or reclaim your bullet, so use it wisely!

7. Don't use small / invisible font, don't use orange text, and don't use any form of clever encryption or code in your messages.

8. If you haven't posted in 2 days, I'll prod you. If you don't pick up that prod AND post within 24 hours, I'll replace you. But let's not do that.

8-1. If you need to be replaced for whatever reason, PM me, don't flake.

9. I am not infallible. I wrote some of these rules at midnight. I wrote the roles and sent them at nearer 1AM. I may have missed one out or done something wrong. Don't be an ass and abuse it. Let me know.

9-1. Texas Justice is not a particularly balanced setup. ANY attempt at game-breaking strategies (ie. Strategies that may lead to instant town-win) is a mod-killable offense.

ROLE PMS ARE NOW BEING WRITTEN AND SENT.

CONFIRM BY POSTING IN THE THREAD.

THE GAME STARTS WHEN 6/9 CONFIRMATIONS ARE IN.

What was it that Dirty Harry carried?

“I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question:

..... you know the rest

and vgm, I'm killing you first ;)

in before someone kills me! and no i'm not hesitating to kill someone just because i'm a dufus cowboy.

I'm in, you see i prefer the rocket launcher, a little bit impratical ,but still all the same, wide spread devastation

No rocket launchers, that means you could kill others through splash damage. No trying to cheat! :P

On a side note, ALL ROLE PMS ARE NOW OUT.

If you have signed up and do not have your PM, let me know ASAP.

ok so...on to making a near broken strategy to win the game.

let's see...

hmmm...

well...

there is no 100% guaranteed way for a town win the way mole has it set up...

hmm...

well...

without lynches...

the only thing i can think of...

is to unofficially vote for someone...

designate a shooter...

and then kill that shooter with a designated shooter...

and repeat...

until one person is left standing.

thoughts/comments/suggestions?

So who shot MOLE?!! Speak or forever hold your piece... in the grave.
oohh this is a hard game so random

This game will prove to be quite interesting. I've never played a game like this before so I can't rely on past strategies. I like the brainstorming that Narsis has put forth already. I like the voting idea because it encourages discussion and by the same token will move us one step closer to uncovering enemy alliances. There may be some draw backs to this though that we do not yet realize. It will be important for us to think of as many angles as we can before taking action.

Hypothetical Situation

==============

If I were to be the first one to shoot somebody I will still be alive but w/ no bullet. The scum would not target me because I am no longer a threat to them as there is no way that I could kill them. They would target someone w/ a bullet left. Being one of the first people to shoot should actually increase your chances of surviving longer into the game.

Win Conditions

==========

What are they? It's possible that there could be 4 people left at the end. Would the town win if they had the majority or only if all the mafia are executed?

How I Think the Game Will Go Down

=======================

The order in which people are shot will vary but I predict that the only people who will be shot will be those with bullets left. If that is the case it's easier to imagine the killings as follows:

Player 1 kills Player 9 (bullet left)

Player 2 kills Player 8 (bullet left)

Player 3 kills Player 7 (bullet left)

Player 4 kills Player 6 (bullet left)

Player 5 kills Player 1-4 (no bullets left)

Any body think the scene in Reservoir Dogs where they have the Mexican standoff sound familiar?

While the idea may work in theory that if player 1 kills 9, 2 kills 8, etc or whatever slowly eliminates the scum surely, you have two problems. The first is, the order itself. What if scum are among the first to kill, and player 5 makes the wrong choice (so both scum are still alive)? Another is, while a screw up could make it easy to find scum, the scum could play along with the order in an attempt to prevent being caught. So really, I fail to see how it might work in practice.

Also, I find your comment interesting about not knowing how the town wins. If you are indeed a townie, you would know that the town wins when all scum are killed. Or if you're referring to if it's 2-2 with no bullets left, I believe scum would win (I believe that's how it worked in the previous style game, though Mole can correct me if I'm wrong).

That's correct.

Confirmed.

Sorry for the late reply. Long weekend and spending it with the family. Never played Texas before so I need to read up on the rules and the previous posts.

CD.

No worries.

I wasn't suggesting that is how we should play it but how the game might naturally tend to progress. The intent was more to bring notice to this twist in the game and not to propose a townie strategy. Also you mention BOTH scum still alive. Both is a definitive word, it can only mean that there are two scum. A townie role PM nor the rules say exactly how many scum there are.

Also, I find your comment interesting about not knowing how the town wins. If you are indeed a townie, you would know that the town wins when all scum are killed. I was actually referring to what it sounded like, what are the end conditions? You pointed out that I should know that based off of the townie PM so that almost certainly makes you a townie and your comments based on 2 scum may just be an experienced speculation on your part. I tend to believe that you are a townie myself. As for why I had asked about the win conditions was not to set a trap however. I wish I would have been so clever to think of it. The truth is that I had simply forgotten the win conditions were already sent to me as I was searching through the rules to pick up clues. If I know mafia players they waste no time casting fingers and votes for the slightest mistake and I fear that coming to me. I ask that you remember that I spoke the truth to all of you even though I knew that it may endanger me.
