Hello, this is Olivia from Amazon
Last Sunday my home phone was ringing off the hook. In the course of about an hour and half, I must have gotten about 3 dozen calls from Olivia at Amazon. Given what I do for a living, I have to answer the damn phone. Funnily enough, three of the numbers that were calling were my number. After putting up with the damned thing ringing every 5 minutes, I pressed one. Noise in the back ground. "Good Afternoon, RCMP Anti-Fraud Centre. Constable John Smith speaking. How may I help you?" "Hello, we are being calling about your Amazon account." "Yes, Constable Smith speaking." "Hello, yes. We have noticed a charge on your Amazon account for a $695.10 IPhone. Did you make the charge?" "You are aware that you've called the RCMP Anti-Fraud Centre? You are speaking with a police officer?" "Yes, yes. I hear you." "So, would you like to file a complaint?" DIAL TONE. Bastards haven't called back. I loved my husband's statement afterwards: "You know you've just committed a crime" I'm like, "Yeah, I know. Not that I give a f**k. Jesus, I'd love to be in on that call. "Hello, I would like to file charges of Impersonating a Police Officer against this man. I called him up trying to steal his money, and he said he was a policeman. Which he isn't. Can you go and arrest him please."" Now he's amazed it worked. Bastards stopped calling.

$40.00 for crying
https://nationalpost.com/health/health-and-wellness/patient-charged-40-for-crying-during-doctors-appointment What the hell? Seriously, what the actual f**k! A person who had health issues and finally got treatment. A Doctor gave her some good news (I hope), and she had a little cry...and she got charged forty goddamned dollars. That's disgusting. I don't have the words to express the absolute contempt I have for a Hospital that has the gall, the audacity, to charge someone for crying in a doctor's office. By the same token, it's typical of the Canadian press to run stories like this. Just to remind us we don't live in the US...which I'm ever so thankful for. (Awww, wassa matter Snowflake? Did I hurt your feels? Do you need your paci and your blankie? Need to crawl into your safe space?) Then I Iook at the places like Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland..oh hell...most of EU. Their Healthcare is much, much better. In those places, I wouldn't have to pay nearly $2000.00 a year for my husband's medication. My Insurance only pays 80%. What's that? Fox f**king 'News' has told you that's socialism? You don't like socialism? Cause that's like those damned socialists hate America? But we done likes the police. Really, you love the police (as do I). A PUBLICLY funded police service? You do understand that a one point in time the police were a private service that you had to pay for? Really, you house gets broken into. Why should I pay for the police to investigate. That's your problem, not mine. So why should I pay. PUBLICLY funded Fire Departments. Your house is on fire, why should I pay? That seems to be your problem. The same with Health Care. Your lack of Universal Health Care costs your economy BILLIONS of dollars a year. In lost production and in a shorter life expectancy. Sorry, I didn't mean to get off on a rant. But, when I see a country that has stood for so much. That has, for all its problems, has done so much to further the cause of democracy. That has, without question, sent it's young men to die on foreign fields. That has been a symbol of stability. A symbol of freedom. A place where the common person, can achieve so much. To fall so far.

I've created a monster...
Sorry, I don't really log in a lot any more. Came in looking for a tech deal (like that's going to happen!), and noticed a reply. Thanks. I had to look up what a DHD was in relation to Stargate. Never was a fan of the show, but my husband like it...hence the Stargate. There is a logical reason for the tea plate....he has these algae wafers which he basically grinds them up, and bakes them on to the plate. It's quite the sight to see fish eating off a plate.

Been awhile. Hope all of you are dong well. I think I've figured out how to show you all how our fish are doing. At least, I hope to Christ I have. Been clicking on buttons for the last half hour...https://imgur.com/a/bjJVnZn Hope that works. My husband has decided to set up hydroponics. We are currently growing lettuce, strawberries, and Forget-Me-Nots. The flowers are for me. I like flowers.

The Coronavirus
Blah, blah, blah Snowflake. More propaganda from highly dubious sources? https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/daily-caller/ I already know you're going to dismiss that, as some Socialist, Liberal, Progressive fake news bullshit. Of course you don't give one flying f**k about facts do you. No, just as long as what ever lunatic you're listening to confirms your already preconceived opinion. I get it Lys, I truly do. You're angry. You're afraid. You don't realize that you're being manipulated for profit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eR0ckpJ3bk&list=RD1eR0ckpJ3bk&start_radio=1 I pity you.

The Coronavirus
Have you considered that you're just a piece of shit? Imagine battering someone just because they've chosen not to potentially infect someone else. It doesn't even have to be covid related, could just be a cold they don't want to spread. No, Snowflake hasn't. He doesn't give a fiddler's f**k about anyone but himself. He's all about fwee-dum, as long as he agrees with it. He'll happily think what ever he's been told to think. Just like the good little fascist he is.

@DarkFox and onbekende. I'm beginning to think you are both masochists. Why are you subjecting yourselves to the pain of arguing with a triggered snowflake? All you are going to get out of snowflake is whatever Fox "News", One America, and whatever far right loon he's been listening to. Snowflake is only going to repeat what he's been told to think. He will only screech about his "fwee-dum" and his "wights" have been denied. Just like the entitled brat he is. Snowflake will only continue to repeat the big lie and conspiracy . Just like he's been told to do. Oh, Snowflake, I know you've seen this. Call me what you like. Hurl your insults. I really don't care. You are everything that's wrong with the USA. You haven't earned my contempt, you are beneath it. So just take your bullshit to some QAnon message board. No one here wants to read your delusional rants.

I've created a monster...
"Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony." Love that movie. Back across town this afternoon. Yep, you guessed it...Big Al's. Ended up getting some air stones, a pump, and bunch of other aquarium related stuff. Getting a little bit scared now. He's done one hell of a job. Set up an air curtain, testing the water, and planted the plants. He's enjoying it. Like I said, as soon as I can figure it out, I'll post some pics. It's turned into a labour of love. I'm glad of it. He's after telling me this is the best December he's had in a long time. He's engaged, he's happy. that's the least I can do for the man I love.

I've created a monster...
with the combo of "Sisyphus, Meredith, Tag, Current, and Tony", I was wondering where the names come from. No theme or logic comes to my mind to tie them together. You got greek, old english, random item, physical unit and random Soprano aficionado. Remember, my husband named them. Yes, I asked him for explanations. Sisyphus: because he likes to swim against the current of the pump. Meredith: Your guess is as good as mine. He did tell me, but I'm hard of hearing, and didn't catch it. Tag: Likes to chase the other fish Current: He was black and silver, currents are black. I don't know, like I said, I'm hard of hearing, I think I might have misheard him there. Tony: not the Sopranos. Think Tony "Scarface" Montana. Love that movie. He was silver. @Xamuel: That's bloody hilarious. Postscript: Well I went and did it. After my Coy (Company), Breakfast, I drove across Edmonton to Big Al's. Bought the 55 Gallon tank he wanted plus a stand. Just spent the last four hours putting the thing together. I wanted to surprise him on Christmas Morning with it, but no one I know could store it. So when I got back home, I asked him to come and help me get something out of the car. When he saw the tank, he stood there in the back garden and cried. It took a while before he could help me bring it all in. He's already talking about the fish he wants to buy. I'll have to post some pics, when he gets it set up. Like I said before, Hang the expense. It made the man I love happy. That matters more to me.

I've created a monster...
Side note....guess who ended up at Big Al's Aquarium Super Center this Sunday? Half hour drive across the city., for fin rot medicine. One hour and 92 G**D**M dollars later.... On a side note, I saw the aquarium he wants and the whole set up is affordable. @onbekende, What questions about the names do you have? Unless of course you were being sarcastic. @ Dontavian, he knows about them...D**M you Reddit. He's been quite active on Reddit asking piles of questions. Like I said, I really don't mind. He's engaged intellectually and is physically active taking care of them. It's better than sitting on a computer playing games all day, or fooling around with his phone. @joe44, that's a nice video. I'll mention it too him.

I've created a monster...
About a month ago, I was talking about setting up an aquarium. My husband was dead set against it. He didn't want them, didn't like them, and wanted nothing to do with them. I happen to like aquariums, I find watching the fish relaxing. So, I went out and bought one. Yeah, I heard about that. I got in a bit of trouble over that purchase. Five days later I bought the fish. When I got them in the tank, he spent an hour and a half watching them. He looked at me and said, "I can't believe they are making me this happy." Side note, my husband is autistic. He went ahead and named them, Sisyphus, Meredith, Tag, Current, and Tony. Current and Tony have since met with the great toilet bowl in the sky. Flash forward to, well, right now. I have no idea how much he's spent. Our rec room looks like a science lab. I've been sent out to buy an ever increasing amount of fish related stuff. Hell, I found out recently there is such a thing as a fish veterinarian. Yes, a vet for fish. No, I'm not making this up. Just search "fish vets" on Google. Never knew that was a thing. Now, he want's to go across town to buy a 55 Galleon tank...with all of the special furniture, pumps, and Lord knows what else. You know what? F**k it. If that's what he wants. If that will make him happy. Then I'll do it. I'm glad that he's gotten this involved. It gets him off the computer and the cell phone, and it stimulates him intellectually. Then I'll happily pay the price.

Nancy just bought a new house...
You could easily say the same about any politician. I think Bill Maher says it best as to why they are the way they are: He goes after the Republicans, but you could easily lump the Democrats in with it as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyCNxugvs6s I will say this much, the US is in desperate need of electoral reform. The biggest one that's needed it to get the role that money plays in your system out of it. For comparison, our recent election cost us just north of $600 Million dollars (our usual average is around $300 million), and people grumbled about the price of what was seen as an unnecessary election. That price tag was to elect 338 Member's of Parliament. That's less than ONE presidential candidate will spend seeking their party's nomination and run for the Presidency. To run for Congress or the Senate requires tens of millions, maybe hundreds. As Rex Murphy once said in one of his editorial, "How can democracy survive in the US when that kind of money is required to seek office? It can't."

Facebook is down
Seems they had some more trouble a few hours ago: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/08/technology/facebook-whatsapp-instagram-down.html Too bad it wasn't permanent. Now if only the Three Ts of the Apocalypse (Twitter, Tumbler, and Tic Tok), would go away.... If you're interested there's a good documentary on NetFlix called "The Social Dilemma." It's eye opening. Of course, when ever I hear about Social Media and the damaging effects its had on society, I can't help but think about the "Cocaine Babies" https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/cocaine-babes-quebec-australia-1.4876903 Basically, two girls in their early twenties from Montreal who were Sugar Babies were given a pile of cash and an all around the world trip cruise by their Sugar Daddies. All they had to do was smuggle 23 million dollars (about 30 kilos), of coke into Australia. They got caught. During the sentencing hearing for the younger one, the judge asked her why she agreed to do it, she replied "To get pictures of myself in exotic locations for likes and attention on Instagram." Which the Judge promptly called a " "It is sad they seek to attain such a vacuous existence where how many likes they receive is their currency." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-cocaine-smuggler-sentence-prison-1.4624409

Canadian Federal Election 2021
I can't disagree with that. Back 20 years ago when I was in University, I lived with a fellow from India. He was shocked to hear that it was up to the governing party to decide when to call an election. He told me that in India, it was up to the Opposition. I stand to be corrected on that point. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather switch to a fixed election date, unless the government manages to lose the confidence of the House. Placing the power to call an election in the hands of the governing Prime Minister (who is the leader of the Party), is an affront to the democratic process. In case you're curious: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/a-short-history-of-justin-trudeaus-scandal-plagued-liberal-government These are some of the issues that are driving the election: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58426147 I had to chuckle at the last paragraph, 16 000 000 pencils were ordered by Elections Canada. As you can see, the biggest issue for votes is Cost of Living. Yet, Sparkles McSocks, "doesn't think about monetary policy" https://globalnews.ca/news/8127753/justin-trudeau-monetary-policy/ Hello my fellow Canuck. As much as it pains me to say it. Not likely. We'll still end up with Trumpdeau. At least we can be happy that he'll only get a minority. Maybe, just maybe, given his poor performance, against the relatively unknown O'Toole, he'll face a leadership review and the Liberal Party will dump him. Just like they did with Chretien.

Canadian Federal Election 2021
What? Canadian Politics? BORING! Did one of your politicians forget to say "I'm sorry" or something? Not quite. This is an election no one wanted. Currently, it sits at over 75% of the electorate who thinks this election is completely unnecessary. This election was called by to suit the ego of just one man, and his desire to have a majority. Just because he doesn't like being held accountable. I'm one of those 75%. That man is Trudeau. Or as I have taken to calling him Trumpdeau. Still remember when the Orange Demagogue got elected, some of you Americans were chanting in the streets "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho. We wish our leader was Trudeau." I'm looking at you Sister Midnight. Six years on, he's shown his tendencies. In 2015 he dismissed two Liberal MPs, one of which I know and call a friend. Hell. if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have passed English 1202. Yet, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9faQ2ed5Qo (The MP in question has since stood down.) Trumpdeau has shown his contempt for Parliament by suing the Speaker of the House. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-trudeau-liberals-taking-house-speaker-to-court-another-arrogant-attack-on-parliament There are many, many more scandals. I can document them. It's been an absolute pleasure watching this moron who decided to drop a Writ of Election when he was riding high in the polls. Just to watch him melt down. https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/ Christ, they didn't even have a platform or a policy before they launched an election. I watched the Leader's Debate last night. Mr.O'Toole, Mr. Singh, and Ms. Paul did really well. I liked a lot of the points they made. Trudeau, I turned it off when he started to blame Harper. Not before I saw Mr. O'Toole say "You blame Harper. You've been in power for six years. Yet, you blame everyone, except for yourself."

Oh, you're going to regret that! LOL. Well, not the largest. Not by a long shot. There are others that come time mind, like the African Slave Trade. I was just poking fun at your comment "Nobody likes those wind swept isles anyway" You forgot to mention rain...and fog.

The Elections 2020 Thread
I stand corrected. Maybe I should wear my glasses when I read this stuff. I've never believed that waving guns in front of the locals was the way to go. So I don't think we disagree there. Like I stated, I do believe in Nation Building, when it's done right. Not as a bonanza for Defence Contractors, but as a desire to see a nation democratize itself and become a valued partner. Speaking from a personal note, that's not what (waving guns), we are told to do. We are supposed to try and win "hearts and minds", be respectful, and try our best to show the locals that there is a better way. Franco-German animosity pre-1914. If you don't mind, I'd like to explore that a little more. Yes, I know there were tensions between France and Germany. For example the Dreyfus Affair. Yes, it had more to do with the anti-antisemitism of the 3rd Republic. Still the idea that a French Officer was communicating secrets to the Germans. Yes, one could even go back to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, and France's defeat that brought about a power shift in Europe. However, all nations in pre-1914 Europe were tied by an intricate treaty web, and had fallen victim to ultra Nationalism. Along with a Naval Arms Race between the UK and Germany (boys and their toys.) Hey, you should see the grin on my face when I'm sending rounds down range with a C9! Yes, you are correct when you said that if Wilson's 14 Points had been adopted there wouldn't have been reparations. By the same token, I'd like to hear your take on that. Yeah, of Celtic stock. I think my ancestors would have a thing or two to say about that. Hadrian's Wall ring a bell?

The Elections 2020 Thread
Maybe I missed the point. I probably didn't explain myself well enough , so we manged to get our wires crossed. No, I don't think for one minute that nation building means (as you put it), "people swinging guns around infront <sic> og <sic> the locals." When I think of nation building, its more in line with the Marshall and MacArthur Plans for post WWII Germany and Japan respectively. However, the benefit to both parties has to be mutually beneficial. Does that mean the builder gets to exploit the resources of the builder or install a puppet regime? No, absolutely not. It means, providing the necessary security, guidance, and if necessary funds so an implacable foe with an ideology and world view diametrically opposed to ours, becomes a stable, prosperous, and democratic state. Need an example? In 1919 we (Belgium is included in that "we"), punished Germany with the Treaty of Versailles. If we had followed Wilson's 14 Points, I highly doubt, the soc-economic conditions would have developed in Germany to allow for Hitler to rise to power. In 1945, a different approach was taken. Look at the results. I haven't heard of any Huns bayoneting Belgian babies, or nailing Belgian Nuns to church doors. Sorry couldn't resist, WWI propaganda cracks me up. I hope no offence was taken, as none was intended. If offence was taken, I sincerely apologize. Could a similar approach, a Marshall Plan for Afghanistan have worked? Maybe. As I said in my previous post, Afghanistan is known as the "Graveyard of Foreign Armies." They are still beholden to a very medieval way of thinking. An intermix of tribal and family loyalties. A country where War Lords still exist, where anyone with enough muscle and guns can carve out a fiefdom. Maybe. It would have taken a lot for us to give Afghanistan a chance. It would have required a lot of patience, blood, and treasure to secure a democratic future for that nation. Something I don't think our soft and decadent society was prepared to give. Look at the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, if you don't believe m

The Elections 2020 Thread
onbekende, the idea of Nation Building was (and remains), sound. Yes, it's been bungled a few times. Greatly bungled. Especially when the US has decided that duly elected governments and their policies conflicted with their (US), vested economic interests. Look at their activities in the Caribbean. Especially those nations that chose a more socialist government, over bowing to the interests of powerful US economic syndicates. I just finished reading a really good book about similar things you touched on "How to Hide and Empire", by Daniel Immerwahr. Back to Afghanistan. The whole situation was never winnable, there was never going to be an outcome that the west would find acceptable. I remember a really good buddy of mine. He told me that when he joined up, his Dad got really angry at him. "Why did you join (the Army)? Are you stupid? You'll be sent to Afghanistan to die for nothing." Or at least, that's what he told me. Afghanistan has long been referred to as "The Grave Yard of Foreign Armies". Even Alexander the Great came to grief there. On the same note, I work with people that were over there. They all say the same thing, the ANA and and ANP were completely unreliable. They were getting high on dope that they bought from the bloody Taliban. By the same token, there were many that really appreciated and respected what was done. Look at the lines in Kabul, of people trying to get the hell out. We have an obligation to those people. The Afghans have always viewed tribe as supreme. During the Soviet's time in Afghanistan, there were those who sided with the Soviets, and those who didn't. Even though the national government was formally allied with the Soviets, and had asked for Soviet support. It was all based on tribal loyalties. The Mujahideen of the Soviet years, became the Taliban of today. All based on who you tribal leader supported. Never forget the Communist government of Afghanistan collapsed after the Soviets pulled out. When tribal allegiance wins over national unity, there is no nation. Let's be honest here. The current (legitimate), government of Afghanistan was never going to last the second the Coalition pulled out. Let's even be more honest. We can blame, Bush, Obama, the Orange Demagogue, or Biden. However, they are beholden to the electorate. How much longer do you think people were prepared to sacrifice their blood and treasure for a country, that some would have trouble pointing to on a map? We are talking about a society that "literally, can't even" when their Skip order is five minutes late. Or their Amazon package won't arrive an hour after they ordered it. Or they can't get the latest smart phone the day it is released. I think I got off on a rant there. As much as I hate to say it, Afghanistan was unwinnable. We were dealing with fanatics, unbending in their misinterpretation of the Koran. They were more than willing to bide their time and wait us out. And they did.

The Coronavirus
Really, that's suppose to impress who? What you have money? So rich your new hot tub has to be craned in? Just have to show us stupid peasants how well off you are? Do you know is said about people who brag about having money? They don't. You know what, go on TicTok with that narcissistic crap. You can impress a bunch of vacuous, self absorbed nitwits. Just like yourself. ROFLMAO! That's the best bloody thing I've heard all bloody week! Not in the least, you never loose your cool. You respond with "logic and reason." I've read most of what you've posted here, you know what I saw? You losing your "cool" time and time again. All I've seen in your nonsensical rants and raves, is anger and fear. Any opinion that questions your deeply held beliefs, results in ad hominem attacks, deflections, reductio ad absurdum, and the inability to stay on topic. All in a desire to wear your opponent down through sheer exhaustion with the intent to win. Just because your fragile ego can't handle being wrong. In reference to the above quote "J'accuse". Flocon de neige. When you say thing like "go to some idiot doctor to get their dicks chopped off." I accuse you of being transphobic. When you say things like "I put up with gay marriage." Just like I have to "put up" with being not able to go into certain parts of this city, this country, and I can't hold my husband's hand. Just because we will be verbally accosted or physically assaulted. I accuse you of being homophobic. When you openly spit on 158 dead soldiers. When you spit on the countless Canadian, Commonwealth, and other Allied Soldiers, who have won American decorations for valour, including the Medal of Honor. I accuse you of being anti-military. I noticed in a reply to Chaplin of Death, you're on about how the USA is a Republic, 'cause the states done make their own laws. Now you're talking about Federalism. Which has absolutely nothing to do with "being a Republic" Jesus, make no wonder you're dumb enough to fall for the lies and misinformation the right wing media is telling you. You have absolutely no idea about how your own country is governed. That explains a lot. What's that? I'm just a stupid, know nothing Canuk. I done don't nothing about how this here "Greatest Nation on this here God's Earth" . Just shut yer danged <insert the following slur here> (faggot (yes, I can use that word, because I am one), commie, Socialist, Nazi, Fascist, progressive, and/or elitist), mouth. Well, my Political Science degree begs to differ with your ignorant self. Opps, shouldn't have said I have a University level education. I can only imagine the abuse you'll heap on me now. I guess I'm just a "latte sipping, left wing, effete, limp wristed liberal." Oh my what ever will I do.
