The Coronavirus
At the start of this topic I didn't want this to become politicized. It meant a lot to me to be able to log in here and just shoot this shit. I liked hearing about what everyone who choose to respond was doing. I liked hearing about you and your lovely wife drinking Palm Breeze in your new spa. It served to remind me there were better days ahead. You know what Snowflake? You are the one who choose to politicize this topic. I choose to respond in kind. Gay Marriage? What does that have to do with anything? I really don't understand. Is that a dig at me because I'm gay and happily married to the man I love? Are you trying to say that my enshrined constitutional right to love and marry another man is in some way a bad thing? That the Government has given way to mob rule? Are you trying to say that a hetero normative way is better? Again,I don't understand. Maybe you can explain for my stupid, progressive, triggered, serve other's before yourself, and NCM brain can understand. The USA is a Republic. Okay, meaning you have a non-hereditary Head of State of who serves a fixed term and uses representative democracy. Fine. Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy. Meaning we have a Head of State who is hereditary and we use responsible government. Now that we've fleshed that out. What does "The USA is a Republic" have anything to do with the debate at hand? Lys, you called me out for saying "there are times when the greater good must outweigh the individual". That's something your Founding Fathers knew. Go to your local library and read Tocqueville’s "Democracy In America."

Lys, I've seen a lot of what you post here. I've tried my best to defend what you say. As much as I might disagree with it. Believe me when I say I do. I\ have always agreed that dissent opinions have value. But you just crossed a line. HOW FUCKING DARE YOU! DON"T YOU DARE SPIT ON THE 158 CANADIAN SOLDIERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN AFGHANISTAN. I know many more who have been scarred by that. I work with some of them. HOW DARE YOU SPIT ON MY GRANDFATHER WHO WON THE PURPLE HEART! One of the many medals he won in WWII. He was a Royal Navy Commando. How about the Canadian families who sheltered Americans during 9/11? How about NATO, or NORAD, or UNHC, or the $292.6 Billion dollars we've contributed to the US Economy under NAFTA? Sorry, the orange demagogue you still believe is you President, says those don't matter because reasons. You know you've managed to contradict yourself? Of course you don't. You only know how to spew Fox News talking points and whatever right wing talk show radio you listen to. My opinions a formed by fact, not anger and fear as yours are. Yes, anger and fear. I've read a lot of what you post here. All I see is and angry and fear. Bullshit? Why because I'm not afraid to admit there are limits to what I know? Because I'm willing to listen to a person who knows more than I do? I do believe that paying taxes is Patriotic. You know why? I have the ability to ensure that those who come after me, have the ability to make something of their selves. Patriotism means serving your country, before yourself. Or as President Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,” Think back to WWII, one of the only reasons we managed to defeat the the scourge of Nazism, Fascism, and Militarism, is because we were "all in this together." Lys, I don't give a damn which health professional you follow. As long as that health professional obtained their degree from a credentialed centre of higher learning. Not some fucking fool who spent an afternoon on the couch consulting with good old Dr. Google, or the reddit school of medicine. Lys, the Constitution is not a suicide pact. There are times when the greater good must outweigh the benefit of the individual. That was something your Founding Fathers respected and admired. It was something your (grand),father respected. If you so choose, please go to your local library and check out the following book "Second Treatise on Government" by John Locke (the founding father of Liberalism), If you choose to read that book, you'll see a lot of similarities between it and the "Deceleration of Independence" and your Constitution. Lys, few troops will choose to not be vaccinated. We know what's at stake. No, we can't be ordered. My unit's vaccine rate is 100%. We know what it means, to serve our country before ourselves. You want to call me a progressive that's fine. I'm more accurately defined as a Red Tory. Frankly, I really don't give a damn. And I don't. At this point I'm done. I done arguing with you. I'm done wasting my time trying to come up with salient points to your nonsensical arguments. I'm done with your talking points, I'm done with your labelling. I'm done with your constant deflections. I'm done with your incessant need to win. Lys, I think you're a good person. I'd love to have you and your wife over to the house for a BBQ and some tasty beers. Just let's not talk politics.

The Coronavirus
During our lock down, it was a great comfort to be able to log in here and shoot the shit with all of you. I twas nice to hear that you were dong well. It meant a lot to me. Now I I see this topic has become politicized and divisive. People have divided by their respective ideologies and beliefs. Let me be very frank. Hell, let me be brutally honest. Some of you know what I am, some more of you don't. For the record, I am a soldier. More specifically I am a Canadian Armed Forces Master Corporal Material Management Technician. This is the mode I choose to speak in. I'm very proud of that. I'm proud that I've earned the privilege of wearing this uniform. I'm very proud of the rank I've earned. I'm very proud that I'm about to receive a decoration. I'm very proud of what I do. I love my job. I get up every morning and I look forward to going to work. I'm very proud that I am a guardian of your rights and freedoms. I'll pay with my very life to protect them. That's the promise I made, that's the promise I'll keep. Then I see the comments that have been left here. Frankly, it fills me with disgust. It makes me question what I'm doing. Why am I guarding you, when you are unwilling to guard me? I got my vaccine, I wear my mask. Not because I have to, but because its my duty. If you truly "Support the Troops", then take the advice given by health professionals. If you don't, for ideological reasons, then you are no different from the POS in downtown Fredericton who called me a "Baby Killer", and spit in my face.

I've tired buying tech. I've tried sending funding. Frankly, I'm bored. Been thinking about this for a little while. Okay, okay...like the last 20 minutes and I'm drunk. Still. Answer me these questions five. The first six people who send me all the correct answers VIA PM IN GAME. Will receive either $9 000 000.00 or a sexy time picture of me. Did I mention I'm drunk? Yeah, you don't want a sexy time picture. 9 000 000.00 is better. Seriously?! You really want a sexy time pic? Well f**k off, you ain't getting it. Settle for 9 million you perverts. The first six to answer the trivia questions, judged by time stamp. Will receive a 9 million dollar Aid Package. 1: You can have a hole without a Polar Bear, but you can't have a Polar Bear without a hole. 6, 5, 1, 2, 3. How many Polar Bears? 2: In 1941, Humphrey Bogart played his role as Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon. He repeatably referred to the young man in Kasper Gutman's employ as a "Gunsel". What does Gunsel mean? 3: Which politician said the following "Mr. Speaker, the longer this House continues, the more I become in favour of capital punishment." 4: Thinking of both North and South America. Which country was the only one to voluntarily give up its sovereignty? 5: "It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights". What were the names of the two grumpy old men who thought coming to the show was like a kind of torture. Depending on how well this goes over, I'm thinking about making this a monthly thing. Good luck.

LOL. That drink sounds pretty good. Nothing will beat a Vesper. Good Luck with your landscaping Lys. Sounds pretty sweet. I got my second Moderna shot last week. I'm hauling down 5G signals from space man! Hit both myself and my Sgt pretty hard. I was dizzy, confused, stiff, chills, and a massive headache. He was feeling the same. We couldn't process what was going on around us. We had a POL order come in to Service Battalion. That was fun, neither of us could read the Goods Receipts. Something that should have taken ten minutes, took nearly a half hour. We struggled to count the boxes, let alone what was in them. My Sgt realized it was time to talk to the OC to get permission to send us both home when we couldn't find the 20 L bucket of hydraulic fluid, I was sitting on.

Today, I had to perform the ultimate, and final act of love.
Thank you ccabal. I know what you are going through. For the last year and a half, I thought or discussed with my husband about what would happen when the time came. Yes, I dreaded it to. CCbabal, when the times does come, it will be a very easy decision to make. That's because, it is the only right one to make. Most of us will do anything for our pets. When you see your beloved cat in pain and suffering, and you have it in your power to relieve that suffering, you'll make that choice with out a second thought. Just like I did. On that note, Caesar came home on the 26th. I had him cremated. He's currently sitting on the mantle.

Today, I had to perform the ultimate, and final act of love.
They say that pets have no concept of death. And that's truly a blessing. But that awful certainty lurks, like a dark cloud In the mind of every true pet lover. Six hours ago, I had to put my buddy, my best friend, my dog Caesar to forever sleep. I'm not doing this for attention. I frankly don't need it. I have the love and support of my husband, and our family. I'm doing this because its cathartic. I've cried, I've raged, and I've screamed to Valhalla. Just to let them know a true warrior is coming. He was so brave when he walked into the vet for the final time. I don't know what happened. The Doctor told me he had fluid in his lungs, his organs were enlarged and displaced. He was fine on Friday night. On Saturday he couldn't walk, he was disoriented, wouldn't eat or drink, and was shaking. He wouldn't go up or down the stairs unless I was standing next to him, with my hand on his back. This morning when I got up, he was the same. I watched as her walked in circles, coughed, and threw up. I made the decision to bring him the the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. Hang the damned expense. He was alert in the car ride. He loves riding in the car, looking out the window. Basking in the AC. The Doctor needed to run a bunch of tests. I had to go home, and wait. It was awful. When they called me three hours later they told me all of the bad news. I collapsed to the ground and my husband held me. There were treatment options, but the Doctor said my best course was to let him go. I vaguely remember saying "Don't you do a damned thing until I get there. He's not going to die alone in that place." It took us 15 or twenty minutes to get there. They led us into a room, and I got to say good bye to my buddy. They left us alone to say our good byes. We both cried a lot, and I sat on the floor with him. I fed him chicken. He loved chicken, but his allergies made it impossible for me to give it to him. Then I pushed the button, and made the call. The vet came in, and explained what was going to happen. She gave him a sedative, and he went to sleep. Then the final needle. He was gone in less than 30 seconds. His little heart stopped. At least he died in my arms. Which is how I think he wanted to go. Surrounded by the people who loved him so much. I'm glad I had him in my life. I did my very best to give him the life he deserved. He was part of my life for 16 years. He'll always be a part of mine. I miss him so much. Its strange no seeing him curled up on his blanket, or hearing him walk behind me. Goodbye my buddy. You'll always be a part of me. I'll always love you. I'll always be there for you, just like you were there for me. I'll miss you. I'll always cherish the times we had. You are my friend, my best buddy. I hope you're happy and free of pain. I did my best, and I hope that was good enough to repay everything you gave me. Rest easy buddy. I love you.

Considering AOC gets along with Jagmeet Sing, the leader of the federal New Democratic Party. A party considered too far left by most Canadians. That should tell you something.

The Elections 2020 Thread
I don't understand what the issue is with having to present valid ID when you vote. I was able to vote in 1994. The first time casting my ballot was in the 1996 Newfoundland Provincial Election. I've voted in every single election since then, and every time I've had to show my driver's license. There were a few times, I wasn't on the voters list and had to be enrolled at the Polling Station. All I had to do then, was present a bill and my license. If you don't have a license, most states/provinces will issue you a simple ID card that has all the same information as a driver's licence. Why do these people seem to have a problem with ensuring that only people who are legally able to vote are the ones who vote?

The Elections 2020 Thread
LOL! That's so funny. I always laugh at those bloody idiots. Last February 14, I had a med appointment downtown and wandered into the middle of an Extinction Rebellion "Protest", or as I like to call it Temper Tantrum. I don't know what the hell they were screaming about, something about oil, water rights, environmental protection, capitalism, or the police. Whatever was pissing them off at that particular second. Yet, iPhones were ubiquitous. I like what Rex Murphy said, to loosely quote "have they ever bothered to research how resource intensive the manufacture of those things are?" Lys, you might enjoy this guy: JoeyBToonz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMG2fvCyTd8

No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
Another update. I finished the game earlier this week....93 hours total play time. Now, like I said, I completed all of the side missions. Which included killing off all the rival Crime Lords and Super Agents. There was another patch this week. Started another run through with another Evil Genius. Looks like the grind has been lessened. I'm not sure if that's because it's a second play through or a result of the patch. All I know is I can unlock the Biologist Minion after about two hours as opposed to nearly 20. Like I said, if you like Sim City, or Satisfactory chances are you'll like this.
-
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
76 hours now, and I've unlocked the side missions to kill the Super Agents. Not sure how close I am to the end. ccabal: To try an allay your concerns. There was a patch earlier this week. I'll admit its a grind. Early on I ran out of space to expand, and it took me a while to unlock the Biologist minion which unlocked the next tier of research (Level 3), which allowed me to develop better mining techniques. Some of the side missions, which you can only do one at a time can take upwards of an hour to complete. Benefit is, you're not forced to do them. I'm no sure what you mean by mechanics. I haven't got any complaints about the game play over all. Yes, the waves of agents that come to your lair gets annoying. Once you unlock the tier three and four traps...which takes time...you don't have to worry about them. Damned Venus Spy Trap has eaten more of my minions than enemy agents...but those minions didn't even have name tags, so what chance did they have? In regards to "it's quite buggy". In the 76 hours I've played I've had two crashes, and three bugs. The game auto saves quite often, so no worries about crashes. The three bugs I had were as follows: Enemy Agents stuck on the beach: Save and quit. Restart and load last save. Problem Solved. John Steele Trainees not showing up: Save and quit. Restart and load last save. Problem Solved. No progress on "Hold a Board Meeting". Move the table. Problem Solved. Bear in mind, I'm playing as Maximilian. Hope it helps. Like I said $50.00 CDN, you can't go wrong. Well, you can...ask me about Homefront 2 or Star Trek: Legacy.
-
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
Slight update. 70 hours in and I think I'm nearing the end game. The mid game is a grind. However, I like doing the side missions. They either give you loot, which it really beneficial. For example, one of them gave me the Tsar Bomb, which gives you 140 power. I stole a BBQ from Australia, which boosts your minion's morale when they eat it at. There's also missions that allow you to take down various Crime Lords which oppose you, and you can deal with those pesky super agents. The benefit is with both of these types of side missions, is you'll eventually kill them. Which means you don't have to deal with them in the final mission. Overall, I'm still having a lot of fun with it. Like I said, (currently) 70 hours plus of game play for just under $50.00 CDN....worth it.
-
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.
Sorry for the GoldFinger reference. I was watching a bunch of trailers on YouTube for Evil Genius 2. Got really excited, and it released earlier this week. Bought the game on Steam, and fell in love. You get to play as a "Golden Era" Bond Villain. Over the top world domination schemes, piles of yellow jump suited minions ready to do your biding, and awesome henchmen. The main focus of the game is lair building. Yes, it's evil. No, it's not in a hollowed out volcano. Running criminal networks, and thwarting those pesky agents of the Forces of Justice. If you like Satisfactory (another awesome game), or Sim City. You'll more likely than not, enjoy this game. I've put 18.4 hours into it. Only negative thing I have to say is it's a little bit of a grind. You have to complete story missions and side missions to unlock higher tiers of research, which will allow you to expand your lair, get better minions, and commit more dastardly deeds on the world stage. After all the time I've played it, I'm only on stage two for new tech. Of course, I like to have lots of "goooold!" Sound track is amazing. Something to look into, if you have a few dollars kicking around.

The Coronavirus
It's been a year. Have I mentioned how much talking to you during the Plague meant to me? It meant a lot. There's a lot of reasons, the main one is I have PTSD. Not from my service, but from my time teaching. I spent 8 years teaching in isolated communities in Arctic Canada. Being forced into isolation put me in a bad place. I am really grateful for having this outlet to talk. Hell, I'd love to be able to send each and every one of you a little token of my respect. Not some CN BS, but a real thing. I found out this week my husband is getting the vaccine in April. Which is a great relief considering his health problems. The Drill Hall at work has been booked for mass vaccinations, which means I'm getting mine in either May or June. Saw this on Youtube earlier, thought you fine people might get a kick out of it. 22 Minutes presents: The Official Canadian Pandemic Anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwyglrEViMU

The Coronavirus
Thanks. I'm glad all of us made it. I've been reading Bob Woodward's new book, "Rage". It's kind of scary to see how government's knew about this and choose not to act. It's even more interesting and horrifying to see that despite being warned not to trust China, because it has a history of stonewalling and covering things up. Our elected officials did any way. Personally, I'm hoping for a Commission of Inquiry into the Trdueau Government's handling of this crisis. I'd like to know why intelligence about a new influenza like virus in Wuhann, that was received in January was ignored by Sparkles McSocks. Why he thought swanning around the world to win a UN Security Council Seat was more important. I'd like to know why he chose to virtue signal because closing the border was racist for some reason, as opposed to protecting the lives of Canadian citizens. Which epidemiologists have stated cost us weeks. I'd like to know why Trudope tried to use this crises to throw his buddies, the Keilburgers and their failing WE Charity nearly a billion dollars in public funds. I'd also like to know what they were thinking when they decided to partner up with China to develop a vaccine. A country that ultimately stabbed us in the back, they took our money and ran.

The Coronavirus
It's been a year since this plague engulfed us all. I was looking at the picture I took about this time last year at the "No Frills" grocery store. Madness, absolute madness. Did I tell you how much, during the shutdown , it meant to me to be able to log in here and shoot the shit? It meant a lot. It was nice to hear about how each and every one who chose to participate were doing. It filled me with hope. I think it saved my sanity. I'll be ever grateful to my IRON brothers and sisters.

Biden’s plan for North Korea 2021
Ignore the son of a bitch. Any attention lavished on that manic will only embolden him. There is no threat of a CBRN attack from North Korea. I can state that with absolute certainty. Here's why. Kim Jong Un might be a lot of things, but suicidal he isn't. He knows, that if he does something like launch as WMD at the West, we'll clean his clock inside of a month. They cannot stand against us. The bulk of their Air Force is comprised of Mig 21's, a front line air supremacy fighter in the 1960's. They have enough fuel and ammunition stock piled for 2.5 weeks of sustained combat operations. About the same time heavy armour units would arrive from both the US and Canada.
