  1. Dude, I'm 23 and I am kind of enjoying this. *blush* It's out of nostalgia. I still got a load of cards; I get the nostalgia. None the less, I still find it disconcerting. Young lads are supposed to be out chasing tail not looking into their phones. I have yet to see any females looking for Pokemon. Seems like a fairly big project; I guess there is some agency or other bankrolling the public tech front company for reasons unknown.
  2. For once Icewolf, I am lost for words It looks to me like the Central banks are already fueling up the helicopters.
  3. Yeah I have heard of and seen people doing this. My own take on it, take it at face value Seeing grown "men" in their mid 20's trying to catch Pokemon is rather depressing to watch, not because they are crap and don't catch anything, more the fact that they are walking around like zombies glued to their phones, children in adult bodies.
  4. I tend to annex coastal city states, they serve no purpose other than being a potential landing site onto MY continent for whoever they are friendly with, and I cant have that. City states that are at the edge of my borders on a continent I tend to ally with and trade with as they serve as a buffer zone to any potential land invasions into BNT Kingdom proper. Usually get the aircraft carriers flight decks running hot, fuel up the B2's in the forward bases bomb the other empires on the continent into rubble then drop in the paratroopers, when the paratroops have taken most of the empire out and the air forces have annihilated any remaining ground forces I send the mechanized infantry and tanks rolling through the city states, annex them and then push on through to take the rump of the empire I have pounded. I hate having piddly skirmishes; I have fought them but they are not how I fight through choice, I usually keep the peace long enough to build up a force and then make a move in such a way that I will conquer and annex a whole empire in 3-4 turns. I always go Russia, 2x natural resources is epic for tank armies, helicopter and nuke brigades. Tend to be sneaky and purchase great generals, I use these to daisy chain into enemy empire territory to remove uranium out of their empire and into mine, also forms a helpful land bridge to cut the empire in half and be a boardwalk for future invasions. Well that's my afternoon sorted, Civ 5 it is
  5. Ah I love Civ but havent played it in a long time. One of those games you pick up and don't realize you have played all weekend. Build a massive nuclear arsenal and have them based in sub's, when you have around 80-100 nukes then enact a nuclear arms embargo at the UN - if you get it right your the only nuclear power and have a huge arsenal whilst no one else can build them mwhahaha
  6. Tell your friend that there are many co-op games he can play with his girlfriend that doesn't involve a computer system and they could have some good casual fun playing
  7. Do you believe the unemployment figures being produced? I think the inflation rate given by ONS is highly manipulated, given that I don't trust the inflation data I have very little faith in the unemployment/employment figures. I will admit that I have viewed the inflation figures and viewed them as rubbish, thus I haven't looked at the official unemployment figures believing it to be a waste of my time. Do you think that financial stimulus is a good thing? If so why? I cant get my head around why people view stimulus as a good thing and would like an alternate perspective, assuming of course you support central bank stimulus. Is this a Lib Dem flashback?
  8. Stock markets, FOREX exchange, retail prices; since the referendum its amazing how many people have become economics wizards (this is not aimed solely at you Icewolf, its at the public in general) after a referendum, all the while having lost money by keeping it in bankrupt in all but name banks, I don't profess to be an economics wizard but I would say that I have a reasonable handle on the subject. BREXIT vote caused a bit of an upset in the market, though for anyone that watches or partakes in the markets, January-February of this year was much worse than post referendum and yet people bleat on and on about how a democratic vote has caused so much turmoil. BREXIT is merely the whipping boy for a global bubble economy that's just looking, and is long overdue to find a pin to prick. Its easier for the powers that be to point to something, anything in order that they are not looked at too closely. Not many have actually looked at the market as an individual and realised that hey: 0% or close to 0% or even negative interest rates across the Western World is not natural and is far from historically normalBillions in stimulus across the Western world is not normalWhat is my local currency really worth given it comes off the magical printing press every time the government needs money?Maybe all of these assets were massively over priced to begin with. BNT looks to the P/E ratios of Wall Street and the NASDAQ and notes how little money these companies are making in the real world yet have huge market valuations. BREXIT referendum was a god send to the Bank of England though they wont openly admit that, it allowed Sterling to fall realitive to major currencies such as Euro/USD etc. For the past 8 years central bank after central bank from Washington, Brussels, Zurich to Beijing have been devaluing their currencies via money printing, unpegging exchange rates in order to become more competitive in relation to their neighbours. This can often cause upset and cries of foul play when nations devalue their own currency and effectively screw over other countries who now have relatively stronger currencies; but this is perfect for the Bank of England, all they have to do is say its unfortunate Sterling fell but that's democracy - its not our doing Governor, T'is the Unwashed Masses The stock markets and fiat currencies underpinning them are the big white elephant that people just don't see; or fail to appreciate. The stock markets are totally detached from reality; held at their current highs by big bolus injections of financial heroin by the central banks. On topic to property prices this made me laugh. "As with Aviva and Standard Life, the firm said investors would be better protected by preventing any further withdrawals.Aviva, the UK's biggest insurer, earlier halted its £1.8bn property trust, a day after Standard Life blocked access to its £2.9bn fund." I would say that these properties for the most part are overvalued. Not only are they overvalued the companies involved have made money by the properties increasingly unrealistic valuations. They make money on the loans to the buyers, the properties serve as ever increasing assets (by price) on these companies books, up until the valuations take a hit, at that point these assets swing from being assets to liabilities as they are often over priced to begin with. See the subprime mortgage crisis and negative equity. Who do people think these funds are protecting? The trustees in their trust funds trying to make money (and arguably failing to do so thus the attempted/withdrawal of capital) or themselves as they try to prevent flight of capital out of their property portfolios and thus balance sheets that are filled with over valued assets that will plunge in value when someone yells "fire" on the disco floor? Nope; this is full blown protectionism by the funds; they have made bets that are now going south and they are preventing people taking their money out of the funds for no righteous reason only pure self interest, namely trying to maintain the perceived current value of the assets on their books; that no doubt have been leveraged to loan money for stock buybacks, executive bonuses etc. It also is not down to the Leave campaign to come up with a plan for the BREXIT, most of these people were/are not in Government merely campaigned to leave and have as much say in a plan as Joe Public; the government, Downing Street provided the referendum, it was for Downing Street to have a plan in place following a potential leave vote; the Bank of England (say at least) that they had a plan, all Downing Street did was collapse into infighting and resignations. The blame for a failure of a plan, or indeed any plan at all lies at the doorstep of 10 Downing Street. Interesting time friends
  9. But that is the whole point. The theory of multiculturalism is simply the idea of a melting pot. No culture is converted, but all are fused into one. Which if you ask me is not so bad. Sounds great actually. That's not to say we can't honor the past, nations of old or previous ancestry. It just means we get over our differences. The US is a great example of multiculturalism working just fine. Sure, we still have racial issues and probably always will, but we have a unique culture formed out of many. Whether you're black, white, Asian, even native or otherwise, if you live in the US, you likely share the same culture as any other American or at least a uniquely American sub-culture that was heavily influenced by all kinds of people. But your culture has already died. By that I mean it's evolved into something unrecognizable from hundreds of years ago. That's what civilizations and cultures do. The whole war on terrorism is a direct effect of cultural evolution. It really all comes down to a handful of fundamentalists who hate change and progress. Meanwhile in Europe, most people are pretty open to change and progress (or at least were). Likely because Europe is the center of the world and has always been the center of progress. I can understand a desire to hold onto old values, concepts and pride. I'm against nationalism but I completely respect the old nationalists of my heritage (Irish). They fought and died for the freedom of my ancestors, but I don't let that glue me to past ideas. The older I get the more I dislike the concept of nationalism. It seems increasingly unnecessary when regardless of your nationality or race, we are all subject to the human condition. Societies only work when the people work together. I see only progress when that concept is taken to larger levels. Multiculturalism ugghhhh..... The older I get, the more I see of multiculturalism and the "benefits" it brings to society, the more Nationalist I am becoming. Really, I am not against immigrants; if you come here through legal means, do meaningful work, follow our laws and do not demand we change in order to accommodate you welcome aboard. What I am against is the unchecked immigration of people who have no intention, language skills or ability to work, ignore our laws and demand we conform to them and act like a vampiric drain on already floundering social services and national infrastructure, Western leadership has no intention making them conform to any of that. Not only is it allowing many thousands of these problems into Europe on a daily basis our rights are slowly being ebbed away by the politicians that go about signing free trade agreements 40 years ago that slowly congeal into the EU of today where only 40 years down the line we are reluctantly given a referendum on it; then people/foreigners such as yourself rock up with an opinion calling my beliefs and those of the majority in the UK idiotic from a few thousand miles away, with offerings of cultural and ethnic amalgamation and the ensuing racial tensions "that will probably never go away" because we have made a democratic choice to say no thanks. http://www.nedmartin.org/v3/amused/_img/anarchy-in-the-uk.jpg So I don't really think we will see eye to eye on multiculturalism Is there anyone in the US that does not have some far flung link to being Irish?
  10. There there, there there, we are entitled to different views Again; if the EU had anything to offer it would have been a differently fought campaign; it would have been a positive campaign as opposed to "if you leave it will bring about the end of days" which we had in spades for months. Arguably the reacting was done by the legions of foreigners and British tax exiles (ie Richard Branson) that came to our shore threatening us with Armageddon and telling us how to vote or else, we just went to the ballot box and said no thanks. I don't understand what your issue is. My issue is that my vision of the future is one where borders become increasingly meaningless. That's been the trend for decades until now. Now nationalism and swastikas are back in style. My thought is that in the future borders will remain. Borders have existed for as long as people have been around to make them, personally I wouldn't bet against history. In my opinion borders are even more relevant now since globalization has taken off; without borders cultures and cultural identities get diluted and die, we are a tribal race, we almost always turn to our own. I personally have no wish to see my culture and its history die or be diluted to the point that its nonviable within a generation or two just because many millions in the third world would like to live here, they have their own cultures and identities, some of which it has become very apparent are at odds with the cultures and beliefs of the civilized world.

  12. This is true, however given the ramifications of it I anticipate civil unrest if it is ignored. That is not me offering up violence or proposing it, merely stating that should Parliament ignore this I feel that things would descend rather quickly into civil unrest +/- major rioting and political turmoil. If 17,000,000 had voted to leave and 17,000,001 had voted to remain I can guarantee you that the establishment would be taking the result of the referendum as a mandate. If this is ignored it will become clear very quickly that democracy is dead in the UK.
  13. It does seem to be we cannot have a thread without someone being called a Nazi; its just one of those internet things. In a rather British attempt to lighten the mood (Hitler's view on BREXIT - I laughed) and since I didn't let the Nazi's out of the bag first.
  14. Read this, it is the guy who started that petition, OVER 1 MONTH AGO, he is on the LEAVE side! I lol'ed (btw, I already agree that the turnout is excellent, sure it aint Belgian +95% levels, but more people went to vote then in the last election in the UK, thats says plenty) I laughed at this too. However..... "It also emerged today that the founder of the petition, which demands a re-count of the referendum because turnout was less than 75 per cent and the margin of victory was smaller than 20 per cent, is a Brexit supporter. William Oliver Healey, a final year student at De Montfort University, set up the petition in case the Leave campaign lost by s slim margin but ironically it was hijacked by Remain supporters after Thursday's 4 per cent win for Brexit. However, among the backers are people in the United States, Germany, France and even Syria. More than 40,000 signatures come from people who said they live in Vatican City - a tiny state with just 800 residents. Civil servants are now investigating allegations of fraudulent sign-ups." Dailymail; your voice of reason
  15. A case of definitions maybe. As stated previously I am not against the migration of people that would bring a benefit to the nation, what I am against is illegal EU migration into the UK. By "immigration from the EU into the UK" I mean the undocumented immigrants that pass through the EU, often illegally as they are bound to document their asylum claims at the first EU country they reach, usually the Southern EU states. They are to be processed, claims looked over. This often does not happen; I believe its called the Dublin system. What then happens due to the Schengen area is these people move through the EU unchecked, undocumented and in an uncontrolled manner due to no border controls. This is a failure of EU law and national law that permits this to happen. You then have many congregating in northern France that attempt to make the crossing into the UK. Either by the channel tunnel, boarding UK bound freight lorries, (2), (3), or rocking up in a boat or attempting to swim the channel. As for the people jumping into the lorries when they arrive in the UK they then become our problem and often the transport companies are left with fines for having migrants aboard when the port of Calais is like Mad Max. By "dumped on us" maybe a better term would have been "having multiple EU countries turn a blind eye to the legal obligations of the migrants to register themselves and the multiple police forces within the EU turning a blind eye to the fact that these are unregistered migrants and thus have no idea who is in their countries that ultimately end up on our shores claiming asylum". These people haven't gone partying to Magaluf; had a great weekend and lost their passport. Total economic migrants; not that I care much for the genuine migrants. These people are ignored and are not processed in France, nor any other EU nation and are allowed to continue on their way lest they become someone else's (French/transit countries) official problem. The amount of people that have been voluntarily let into the country by my government are spit in the ocean. The people arriving via the above points or overstaying visas has been put at anywhere between 417,000 and 863,000 as of 2007 by the London School of Economics; this is obviously rather old now with migration having accelerated further in the past 9 years. Its rather hard to quantify the numbers given the obvious illegal methods of entry used and then these people obviously want to keep under the radar. I hope my definition clarification of immigration from the EU helps, if not I have little doubt that you will ask further
  16. The Scots voted to remain part of the UK. They voted knowing that there was going to be a UK/EU referendum coming up; they voted to remain in the UK and as a member of the UK. The UK held a democratic referendum and the UK as a whole voted to leave the EU. I was upset under 13 years of New Labour. If the Scots want another referendum let them have it, its the SNP calling for it not necessarily the Scottish people. If Scotland tries to prevent or derail the results of a democratic vote by the Union as a whole I would be inclined to ask for a referendum on removing Scotland from the UK, same with Northern Ireland if they are so inclined - go rejoin Ireland and let us know how that works out. I hope the Scottish people put Sturgeon back in her box. I am not proposing an end to immigration from the commonwealth or its dissolution, merely an Australian style points system where you are allowed in if you are a benefit not a drag on the nation. Turn up on the beach claiming asylum? Where did you come from, how did you get here? So you walked though 6 EU member states for the "safety of the UK" which those states couldn't provide you? Deport them. We are having a load of the third world dumped on us. EU resettlement and our own government allowing in these people. See EU resettlement quotas; these haven't come out yet but I am very interested to see what they will be in the coming months; good luck with that Europe. I don't care; fight for your freedoms, don't go holding out the beggar bowl to others; make the country one that you would want to live in rather than fleeing whatever third world shithole you are from and demanding the state your are resettled in comply to your customs and whims - you are a guest in this country and should act like one.
  17. This describes 1960-70's Welsh Valleys pretty aptly. This describes the old people that voted Leave and has upset Generation Snowflake with their vote (whom no one has had it as bad as). My parents still have the shitter out in the back yard; granted they now have 2 toilets and the bathroom inside but the outdoor shitter remains for storage these days. I guess they didnt knock it down and send it into history because of so many happy memories. My father and uncle (60 and 69), often tell us (me and my brother) how nice it is to have running water and heating as we take everything for granted, often telling us the days of having to have a bath in a tin tub that would be placed in the living room next to the open coal fire, usually they wouldn't change the water in between siblings that jumped in before them - with good old carbolic soap. The Welsh Valleys were destitute for some time; they still are poor, but generally people were happy in their communities even though they had nothing by modern standards. Cold in the winter? Yeah best get outside and get the coal in; no central heating. The bin collector is still called the "ashcart" by many in the welsh valleys, as they didnt used to collect much in the way of waste just dead coal embers and the resulting ash. The house I bought we discovered when renovating and pulling off the insulation boards the original old fire places, I have one in every room except my kitchen and bathroom which was annexed off from this room I am in and would thus have shared this fireplace behind my desk. I have a fireplace with a flue (granted boarded up) behind this very desk I am typing on. We are not talking the 1850's here with Fagin characters sending out street little urchins to pilfer coin purses from people in top hat and tails, literally this is only 50 years ago, post World War 2, into the 60's and early 70's. Old people remember this. And I would sooner have to walk in the snow 30 yards up the garden to have a crap in the middle of winter or get the coal from the bunker than live under the EU. If we go back to the 1970's so be it; we have our freedom and we have our democracy even if we do have to have to wipe our derriere with yesterdays news. There is a fundamental disconnect between city folk and the rest of the country; this is fairly obvious from the voting result maps. You are not having to deal with the dross that is coming as you live in apartment blocks and likely don't know who your neighbors are, we are living on the front lines of EU immigration and resettlement and are seeing what it is doing to our communities which are being destroyed by it. You live sheltered lives in the cities, we dont. Wales is a huge recipient of EU aid, my constituency is one of the poorest in the UK with one of the highest unemployment rates in the UK and a Labour party strong hold - you could have Albert Einstein and a literal Donkey (the animal) with his big ears stood there; stick a Labour rosette on the Donkey and the Donkey will win the vote - even with that in mind, one of the poorest areas, where there is poverty and Labour stronghold has utterly rejected the EU. Of course you can say that for a society. Look at China, only 50 years ago it was killing millions of its own people "because" - whilst I utterly disagree with communism and the methods employed by the ruling elite they have pulled the people out of the rice paddies and made a economic juggernaut that unfortunately is steeped in the blood of its own people. Look at Germany; it was a literal ruin 60 years ago, 2-3 generations later it is the manufacturing center of Europe. Rubbish; give people the hope, the means and the vision and they will work wonders. I had to go back and read this again to understand the gravity. You are employed by the EU. Your job is all about the UK being a member state of the EU. You will eventually lose your job because of this decision. Your opinion about the Brexit is biased to the extreme degree, and I can now understand why many British citizens probably consider you an enemy. It reminds me of "Schindler's List", if you ever saw the movie... the Nazi's appointed special Jewish citizens to help organize the Jewish settlement population in the residential ghetto "prison". They were all eventually slaughtered, but that's a different part of the story. I don't know Ice... I would want to get right with history, and start working for your country and not for Europe. Good luck Sir. Lysistrata, all animals are created equal, though some are more equal than others. I saw what you have highlighted some time ago; hence my spirited "why are you drinking the socialist koolaid" posts that came after. As I said some time ago, the pigs will defend their trough. Hopefully the gravy train will end and many many people who don't have meaningful jobs are sent to the unemployment line no longer able to suck off the fat of the land. Those that end up in the unemployment line I hold no ill will against, I hope they will swiftly become productive members of society and out of whatever hardship they find themselves in. Though I honestly hope; from the bottom of my stone, poor people despising heart that after this there will be an absolute bonfire of career politicians in the UK who only look out for themselves. Bring in a UK Constitution where our sovereign laws can no longer be over ridden by foreign nationals or courts; all UK MP's must be born in the UK and if they are from immigrant families those families must have been here legally and be nationalized citizens, not here on visas. Any attempt to change the UK constitution must be made by a 80% Commons majority followed by a legally binding referendum put to nationalized citizens of the UK whom must be residing in the country to be allowed to vote. Give the encouragement, give the people the dreams and freedom and you will have a nation. All Icewolf has offered is "the old folks have sent us down the river"; I am so upset in democracy, why don't people see things my way, OMG I will be out of a job. I am also a public employee (NHS), I may be up for the chop when money gets tight, so what? Welcome to being a big boy in a big bad world, we may be dirt poor on the outcome but fuck it we have our freedom and we have each other. If Remain had any valid points you would have had a positive election based on "if you stay in the EU" X,Y,Z will happen which are all positive things and we genuinely think you will agree and will vote for; instead all we have had is Pig after Pig that wants to defend the trough come on stage and tell us how bad things are going to be for us; we even had Barry Obama come to this land and tell us how to vote or else. Seriously America; we have so much in common and this fuckwit comes here telling us whats in our best interest or else? Don't be mad at him, he was sent as a blessing from whatever god you believe in, Barry Obama really did so much for democracy in the UK I hope he gets a little addendum in the history books as the writers describe him as being "worse than Nixon". Remain / AKA Project Fear only had one slant, and it was "do as we say, vote remain or the world will end"; 17 million people have either called their bluff or said the same as me, fuck it, its time to watch the world burn
  18. As for the people back tracking on their vote; well when you vote for something you vote for it, if you don't understand what it is you are voting for its down to you to educate yourself or be a grown up and accept that you fucked up. This is nothing new under the sun, how many people voted for New Labour and subsequently regretted it? How many voted for the Lib Dems and regretted it? How many people voted for Cameron and the Conservative party in 2008 and regret it? One of my Euroskeptic friends has been a Leave voter for months, frothing at the mouth to leave; it came to the ballot box and out of fear she voted Remain, after casting the ballot to remain she instantly regretted it - not to mention that the circle of friends have been teasing her relentlessly about it, regrets work both ways.. How many times have you had a few too many; the beer goggles are well and truly on and you wake up next to a girl that resembles a bloody ewok that you took home last night and then regretted it? I have I was driving to work 3 years ago and needed to fart; I regret farting as I followed through and shit myself. Had to go home, shower and change then go and scrub the shit out of the drivers seat before I could attempt to drive back to work. I really regret that fart; everyone regrets something, its life. King Hitler's post is essentially showing the difference between Partnership and Dictatorship. He describes it as being a client state, whereas the reality is that the EU is a partnership. The benefits are many, and people are now seeing those benefits fall away and a lot of people are panicking, and rightly so. Worse, it seems that our political establishment are actively making it worse by turning to total civil war in their own parties rather than providing anything that remotely looks like stability in the face of uncertainty. I didn't hold Cameron in much esteem, but to resign and walk away from a crises of his own making on the day the pound crashed a record amount...utter fucking coward. As for some of the comments in this thread about "Generation Snowflake." I'm 25. In 2009 I was 18. My adult life has been recession, austerity, and now it looks like that will last until I am 30. No living generation has gone through something like that. For Britain it has actually been worse than the Great Depression in terms of lost growth. (I know that isn't the case for the USA). If you are 30 you turned 18 in 2004, and had 5 years of solid growth to get your life set up. Ok I bet it wasn't all easy, but do not for a moment presume that this generation is complaining about having it easy. Its been fucking hard for the last 5 years for most of my contempories. I got it lucky, good job straight out of University, better pay than the national average since I was 22, and an inheritance to smooth it out ontop of that. Most people my age don't have that and have had 5 years of no Employment rights, poor job prospects and a generally bleak outlook. Ontop of that the Labour Government's total failure to construct housing stock meant sky high rents and none of the social housing rights the older generation enjoyed. If the economists are right "generation snowflake" will be the only generation in Living memory to have endured 10 years of economic misery as their starting point in life. I know there are some of my age who complain too much and aspire too little. I know it can seem like kids whining. Heaven knows I find it personally irritating because it often feels like all my achievements are ascribed purely to luck without the hard work I put in. But please just remember that it has been fucking bleak for a lot of us, and it looks a lot bleaker now. Partnership.. our tax money gets paid to Brussels, Brussels gives us some of that money back with a complimentary "provided by the European Union" sticker, cut out the middleman and redistribute the taxes nationally within our own boarders - why send it to Brussels for them to skim some? I do agree with you on the parties making it worse; the current infighting since our independence vote with MP David Lammy and now Nicola Sturgeon threatening to block the UK exit is horrifying. These people do not believe in the democracy that they oversee, with any luck they will come to there senses before some enraged pensioner gets all shooty. I got my first full time professional job as the recession hit. My first 6 months in work were the worst I have had to endure, dragging my ass out of bed every morning to go to work knowing that I am going to work simply to pay off debt and loans that got me through university and keeping enough back to keep petrol in the car and some money for my parents to keep food in the fridge and the electric on. Money cant buy happiness but its hard to smile when your broke as fuck; generation snowflake are not the only people that have suffered. My family came from nothing, no wealth, no inheritance. A number of my family have stayed the same, broke and living life on the edge and making sure that their crimes generally do pay. I generally have little time or sympathy for the poor, even though my family has gotten out of poverty itself. Try and work your way out of poverty and its generally not the state but from your fellow poor you will meet resistance, the resistance ranges from intimidation and sometimes violence as they see a crab getting out of the bucket and will do all they can to pull his ass back in. Then when you do make it out they turn to you and say that you owe them, look at all the mouths I have to feed, and if you don't give back to the community this somehow makes you a callous traitor. I remember being poor in my youth, I look around now and see for every legitimately down on their luck family member or villager there are at least 20 that did it entirely to themselves and are not trying to do better. And of course, because I am no longer poor it wasn't down to my own perseverance it was pure luck, and as it was only luck I should share it around. Most people have been poor at some point, there is a difference between being poor and only having enough money to afford the basics in life to utter destitution where you are going through the bins for food or your children are turning to prostitution in order to get anything. I personally know of 3 people who use food banks, they still find the money in order to smoke 10 a day and go out on a Friday night and maybe buy a little bit of weed as well and complain about being poor. Generation Snowflake really hasn't had it all that bad. Generation Snowflake hasn't been bombed, conscripted into the forces, had to deal with rationing, have a lot of the people you know dead, go outside to have a crap in the middle of winter, take a broom handle to break the ice in the bottom of the pan before you could let loose then walk away with yesterdays news on your arse as you couldn't afford toilet paper (so you used yesterdays news paper to wipe). You haven't been restricted to what you can go to the shop and buy, there are jobs out there the legions of eastern europeans in the UK are testament to that. There seems a reluctance by Generation Snowflake to take any job as long as it pays, working in a supermarket? No way; I have a first class honors degree in Religious Studies (or other non economical / pointless degree) that's beneath me! Since 2008 I have had 3 European holidays, all were four day city breaks to Amsterdam I got cheap and maybe a weekend break in the UK or a week camping in Scotland once a year that basically cost me food and the petrol to get there. I am still driving around in the same car that I drove to university in, it frankly looks like shit; has many "feature" rattles and noises and occasionally you will hear an expensive sounding noise that I gleefully ignore as I will drive that car until it dies. I have the worst car in my street and joint worst among my work colleagues; it drives, it works and I own it. The only thing it costs me is the fuel to run it, the occasional new tyre, tax and insurance. Contrast this to a number of my other colleagues who are still up to their eyes in student debt, are paying insane amounts of money in rent and have no interest in saving money, pay more to rent a flash looking car that warms their ass on the way to work every morning than I pay in a month on mortgage payments, and they have at least 2 foreign holidays a year, we are talking Vegas, Cancun etc. The snowflakes that I know are incapable of handling money, they have absolutely no appreciation for it, drive to earn it (they often refuse overtime as they have social commitments) or ability to handle it. I know one lad who is my age that managed to get himself into £15,000 credit card debt on top of a student loan whilst renting who then went out and bought himself a £10,000 car on credit then complains hes broke; this whilst turning down overtime offers in work as he had made arrangements to go out and piss money that he didn't have up against a wall. Europe is not offering generation snowflake a way out of poverty - you just have to look at the EU's youth unemployment rates to know that, merely political union. Its up to the individual to drag their own ass out of poverty through the sweat on their brow and their own grit and determination, no amount of hand outs or aid will instill in people a work ethic and the drive to better their own lives it does the opposite, it breeds contempt, apathy and a growing amount of resentment from the young who look up at the older generations and see that they have everything, they wasn't around to see how the older generation got to where they are and the sacrifices that they made to be where they are now.
  19. Sorry King Hitler I missed this. Americans Guide to understanding why Brits are happy without the EU: Imagine if America was part of a Union where it spends $48 Million USD a week.. Yup.. exchange rate has changed a bit of late (lol) but its a ballpark figure. US senators are constantly voted against, and laws implemented against their will that they CANNOT repeal. That is done via a different, non elected legislative branch that implemented the law to begin with. Over 60% of US Laws are made in Cuba and those laws even override the US Constitution. EU law supersedes the elected government. Mexico and Canada have unrestricted immigration access to the US even if they have criminal records. Criminal record, disease, can be openly hostile to the native population and bring with them a completely alien culture and beliefs. Crimes that were rare among the native population become far more common place (looks at the Swedish rape and sexual assault statistics, most; 95%+ committed by non natives). And one day you break free from all of that now would you not be happy also? Yeah happy as fuck to be honest. Now for the parliament to implement the will of the people or the coming social and political chaos as it becomes clear that the elected people no longer represent the people. This doesn't mention things like the fishing quotas. The bulk of the EU fish are caught in UK waters; yet UK fishing fleets are restricted to how much they can catch whilst foreign nationals are free to fish our waters, granted with similar quotas. So America, pay your fishermen to scrap their vessels, half of the fish you catch off the eastern and western seaboard now belong to Mexico and Canada. And then your President (another person from a foreign land) came to tell us what to do and there would be consequences if we didn't tow the line. And Europe and generation snowflake was shocked at referendum result. LOL; me too - I genuinely thought the vote would be rigged for remain!
  20. I speak for myself here; I 100% forgive Cameron for giving us this vote, god bless his cotton socks. I am pretty sure a good deal of 17 million others would also forgive him for giving us this vote. I am pretty confident that a good deal of 16 million will be making voodoo dolls of Cameron in the coming days.
  21. Older does not equal better, it is intellectually dishonest to think otherwise; generally more knowledge but you have imbeciles at any age. A good number of my family (mostly older than me) I honestly think if there was any justice in the world would be put to the wall and shot as they serve absolutely no useful purpose to society other than maybe potential organ donors; within that group I can count 2 burglars, an arsonist and someone that ended up doing quite a long stretch in jail for attempted murder and another 8 that have spent the past 30 years on welfare popping out child after child most of which seem eager to pursue their parents life styles; they spread misery to the community and get rewarded for it. If the country was a dog with worms the vet would give the poor pooch a pill and the parasite would be killed to let the pooch get on with his life. Alas people are not worms even if many do fit the definition of parasite. The woman is entitled to her opinion whether you agree with it or not, personally I agree with you on this one but hey, you cant agree with everyone. Old people do not hold a monopoly on racism or bigotry; you will meet these people. Not only will you meet these people they also live in the same country and they also have a vote no matter how fucking crazy they are, thanks to your buddies in Brussels have ruled that's illegal for the above members of my family (whom I obviously think very little of) to have a vote whilst they're in prison. We cant even throw people such as hook handed Hamza out of the country without going through loads of hoops back and fore because of his "human rights"; thank god the Americans came along with god knows what contrived charges to extradite him. But here's the age thing popping up again. I am 30 and I disagree with you; the bulk (around 80-90%) of my social circle are totally anti-EU, viewing the EU as the same abomination that I view it as being, the waves of the third world that Europe allows through its states to reach our shores and the subsequent rulings that follow. Fuck we even allow and have been forced to do so by Europe to give child support to the parents that are in the UK for children that are not even in the country. We are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum here my friend. I bet your someone that's gone and signed that petition for a second referendum, you come across as a democracy supporter but only when the result suits. Generation snowflake needs to wake up, life is full of dislikable people who's views differ; it really needs to grow up and grow a spine because there are many many more things in life that will come following this that will be far more important. Our democracy for all its flaws is better than the chains the EU is offering; I sincerely hope that the MP's will make this happen, I forsee a lot of social unrest if it doesnt. Remain has signed a petition that has got 2 million signatures in 36 hours - wow, gholly gosh, leave got over 17 million in a single day. Democracy = out we go or political and social chaos. No Shah. Just turn up at the beach in an inflatable boat; walk the channel tunnel, jump in the back of a lorry and get yourself in the UK and say "asylum" and its a free ticket to a life on welfare and all the perks that come with that such as heath care, housing, translators (if you are in the UK and cant speak English the government provides translators - the question of what economic use is someone that cannot hold a basic conversation in English / Welsh is never brought up by the politicians). You can come here with no qualifications, no language skills, commit as many crimes as you like without fear of deportation if you come from some third world shithole where you may be abused should you be deported; bring whatever infectious disease you may be carrying at time of entry such as HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis and god know whatever else - you are encouraged to get screened for these if you apply for a visa, but if you just turn up minus a visa hey ho. Got a health condition? Just turn up on a visa or simply dont bother with that, you turn up get treated get flagged as being foreign and not entitled to free treatment, you have broken the law by illegally entering the country or overstaying your visa, and then before we can do anything with you we need to find out if this is available in your home country etc prior to deportation. Generally you find that the highly qualified will use legal channels to enter, obtain work permits etc. I have no issue with these people and encourage them to come to my and Icewolf's country.
  22. No I was angry that they are allowed to exist; but within 2 years they will no longer be my concern
  23. The older generation voted for a common market, not a European super state where there is an unelected political elite that are untouchable by the ballot box. With respects Icewolf I agree with Lysistrata, the older generation know what life was like prior to the common market prior to it morphing into the abomination that it is today. The currency slide is neither here nor there, the pound had been gaining strength prior to BREXIT as it was viewed as a sure victory for remain, when remain lost the markets realised they had hyped the pound up and it came down. Friday was the first time they have been given an opportunity to leave; many of them voted to leave. I will be blunt and say that maybe you should view this as an opportunity as opposed to a personal defeat. I hope that the gravy train really ends and a lot of people who don't really contribute to society merely shuffle other peoples money around and peddle the ideas of the establishment whilst sucking at the teat of uncle government will now have to go out and get a proper job. If generation snowflake is upset it could be worse; we could have youth unemployment like Greece or Spain, and the desperation of having to rummage through the bins for something to eat or prostitution of the young to keep a roof over the heads, both EU members; but if its easier to hate on their grandparents and parents for "making the wrong choice" so be it. For all the talk of uniting the country maybe it would be wise not to bang on about this being the fault of the older generation? What are you going to do remove their vote? The old people live here too and helped build this country; generation snow flake are Johnny come lately's to the nation and are reaping the fruits of the generation that came before; it would be totally undemocratic and perverse not to take the views of the people who built the country that we currently enjoy into account. But if you want to be pissed sure; just know that is democracy, you always have someone that looses out. If it helps I had a similar feeling of democracy utterly failing when Joe public voted for 13 years of Blair and Brown; but it is what it is. I also remember Mr Brown selling off 400 tons of the UK gold reserve for a pittance - what a mistake / act of criminal negligence that was. Go and learn something new, a trade or profession; find something that you find stimulating and rewarding and earn your own money. I really do wish you well if it does come to you going to the unemployment line and hope that your situation improves rapidly should it come to that.
  24. Many thanks Lysistrata. Scotland has not asked for independence following the BREXIT vote, only the Scottish National Party (SNP). Please refer to my earlier post of an Englishman farting north of the border for further explanation or here for a partisan though less so than my own explanation. Parties can ask for and demand whatever they want; though as in Wales my home country in the UK the political parties are totally disconnected from the public. For an outsider this could be confusing (I am unaware of your knowledge so apologies if this is patronising) the UK has devolved governments within the Kingdom, Wales has the Senedd or what I refer to as "The Pantomime down at the Bay (Cardiff Bay)", Holyrood Scotland, Stormont in Belfast Northern Ireland. Parliament, London, England. Each have their own elected officials within their own country in ADDITION to members of Parliament (in London) that represent them whom they also elect. The SNP in Scotland are calling for a referendum on remaining in the UK, this is a separate issue to the UK leaving the EU. This is a regional assembly/parliament getting above itself again. As a Welshman National Assembly being created at the Senedd AKA The Pantomime down at the Bay. I treat them with the utter contempt that they deserve; the Scots however seem to have caught Braveheart Fever and are usually calling for a referendum for this or that at the behest of the SNP for whatever whimsical notion best fits the bill. This doesn't correlate to the will of the voting public however. I love Scotland, its great and if you have never been I would thoroughly recommend it; but the government is made up of third rate hacks much like what I have to put up with in Wales; though thankfully my local worthless politicians are not calling for referendums left right and center although the majority called for the electorate to vote "Remain". Cameron resigned; Carwyn Jones my Pantomime leader thus far has avoided the chopping block. I personally hope he is sent to the unemployment line. Politics 101 - don't trust the fuckers - the pigs always defend their trough. Hurrah for leaving the EU
  25. I am for immigration; my own girlfriend is foreign (Lithuanian). I just dont want the third world dumped on my doorstep and have to deal with all the problems they bring with them. I work with people of many nationalities, I have no issues with them as they have come to the UK with something to offer and they work hard. I don't want the unwashed masses of the third world that demand my society change in order to accommodate them all the while holding the beggar bowl out pleading think of my children - now give me free healthcare, housing and social benefits whilst I decry how much I hate your country and the people in it. Vet people coming into the country; bring on a system like Australia, have something to offer? Great welcome aboard the 20:16 BREXIT train; don't meet the criteria? GTFO; there is a 20:18 Gravy Train heading for Brussels we have enough of our own poor simpletons without adding you into the fold. I don't owe anyone my culture, I don't owe them my future; I don't owe them my country and I sure as hell don't owe them a free life on welfare. Want a free country? Do what my forebears did and go back and fight for it; in the mean time maybe you should stop imprisoning rape victims for adultery and create a country where you actually want to live in.
