Guess Who Mafia

Welcome to the IRON Gaming Channel! Tonight we have a special treat as Narsis hosts what he(and we considering our poor ratings as of late) hopes is the next big game show! He calls it Guess Who Mafia.

Ever played that board game Guess Who? The one where players pick a person from the deck and then try to guess who the other player has by asking yes/no questions about them. What about mafia? The game of persuasion, logic, and good old fashioned murder mystery. Well whether you have or haven't now is your chance to watch these 5 players duke it out in a twisted combination of the two! Who will win? Let's find out!

Players still in the game:

2. Kaziocore

3. Nerau

The Rules

1. Days will last a week; nights will last 48 hours.

2. At deadline the player with the most votes dies. If there is a tie the first player to get to that number of votes is lynched. Should no one have been voted, a player will be lynched at random.

3. During the day the town(as a whole) may also ask the mod a single yes/no question about the mafia. This question must be related to the revealed information section. (Examples: Is the mafia's hair brown? Is the mafia a guy? etc. Examples of what not to ask: Is CD the mafia? Is KevinH not the mafia?) It must be asked in bold.

4. There are only two options for each category(hair: brown/black, eyes: brown/green, sex: guy/girl, skin: dark/light, accessories: glasses/necklace).

6. Upon death a persons info will be fully revealed. Additionally, one of the living players at the start of each day will be revealed in full.

5. Everything else should already be known to you guys since you've all played mafia before and I'm not about to throw out any major surprises. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Oh okay :[

So any suggestions on what to ask?

I asked that question to Everyone...what 2 characteristics do you want to ask?

I'll give my thoughts after everyone gives their input.

i say lets start with the first two

hair/eye colour and do what kazicore is suggesting and then we know at least something going into the next day.

I like this set-up. It's a good thinking game.

I think it is in the town's best interest to gather as much inform as possible and then make the best lynch possible.

We only have 2 mis-lynches to give.

Day 1: Mis-lynch townie

Night 1: Townie night-killed

Day 2: Mis-lynch townie

Night 2: Townie night-killed and game over.

However, if we no-lynch on only one of the first 2 days, the scum will win because there would be only 2 players remaining on day 3.

If we no-lynch for 2 days, we would have 3 players going into day 3 which could force the lynch of the scum. (And there would be an extra question answered)

Vote: No-lynch

If CD is townie, the scum will kill him.

It's not because he's a pro, but because his information has been revealed.

The combination of all 3 questions could totally clear some players with their information revealed.

@MOD: Can we self-reveal our characteristics?

If we are allowed, I propose that we reveal our own characteristics now. That will help us in 2 ways. 1) If the true reveal shows that somebody lied about their characteristics, that would be a good indication that they are scum. 2) The questions we ask can be applied against all players, not just the remaining one revealed because the scum will kill off the others that were revealed earlier.

Does the mafia has (brown hair and brown eyes) or (black hair and green eyes) ?

IF the answer is NO...then mafia would have black hair and brown eyes.

Not quite. In this case if the answer is NO, then the mafia could possibly have brown hair and green eyes.

I propose that the question be "Does the mafia have (brown hair and a necklace) or (black hair and glasses)?"

@Kazio - I believe the MOD said that your previous suggestion was the most that we could do.

Your recent suggestion is basically...is CD mafia? Which is not a valid question...as per rules posted.

this is correct.

as for Kevin's question...i would say no. perhaps in a larger game with slightly different rules i would allow it...but in a game this size i specifically set up the rules the way they are to prevent the town from getting too much info while also avoiding giving them too little.

as for Theo i'm going to throw him a quick prod. :P

thought i should clarify this a bit...i was referring to Kevin's question on whether self-revealing characteristics was allowed.

knew i forgot something in that post of mine...

just so you are aware, a no lynch results in a random person being lynched. it is impossible to no one to be lynched. the reason is to prevent the very thing you are suggesting.

Ouch Narsis, next time try prodding without a pitchfork :P

Anyway, the combination question sounds good.

We might also make an assumption, that (a) Narsis gave a clue to how mafia looks with the initial description or (B) that he gave no such clue.

If he didn't than mafia is surely not:

brown/brown/male/dark/necklace

brown/brown/male/dark/glasses

brown/brown/male/light/necklace

brown/brown/male/light/glasses

brown/brown/female/dark/necklace

brown/brown/female/dark/glasses

brown/brown/female/light/necklace

brown/brown/female/light/necklace

There is a catch tough, I'm assuming that the two primary variations clues wise are hair and eyes.

I don't get this

a no lynch results in a random person being lynched. it is impossible to no one to be lynched.

Unvote: no-lynch

I'd rather have a decision in the lynch.

If the question leaves open the possibility that CD is scum, then he will get my vote.

How did you come to assume that the primary variations are "hair and eyes"?

That is exactly what I said in my previous post.

This will remove any doubt for the town.

Townie

CD - I'm asking for town to lynch me if I have same characteristics as mafia.

Kazio - came up with a way to get more info from a single question

KevinH - suggested potential game breaking strategy of revealing 1 characteristics.

Undecided

Nerau - posted nothing substantial

Theophilos - not posted

Then I would like to start voting KevinH's question.

"Does the mafia have (brown hair and a necklace) or (black hair and glasses)?"

We should decide now what to ask so we will have more time to discuss who to lynch before Thursday

I simply think that those two variations are the most likely two, that will show who the mafia is ... nothing more than a feeling if you will. That's why I said their is a price to pay for such an assumption.

I propose that the question be "Does the mafia have (brown hair and a necklace) or (black hair and glasses)?"

@MOD - is this type of questioning acceptable?

@Nerau/Theo - are those 2 characteristics (hair + accessories) and the line of questioning (ie. KevinH suggestion) acceptable?

I don't have any preference for the two characteristics chosen.

I want one of the options to match CD's characteristics so that he'll either be cleared or more suspicious since two characteristics match.

IF the answer is yes...then mafia may have the same characteristics as me or it might be the other combination.

ie. browh hair + necklace (same as me)

ie. black hair + glasses (not the same)
