We need to make some choices.

Individually, whom does each of us most suspect?

Well.. we dont have much to go on but IMHO the lack of substantial posts from Angel.. make him the prime suspect.

 

A recent addition to my FoS is Nerau. He needlessly indicated that he has a townie power role.

Just keep on playing. It doesn't need as much discussion, but we can still vote and progress.

My vote on Nerau stands, and I'm even more confident of it given his shady explanation of why he shouldn't be lynched. If he or someone else can make a reasonable argument as to what his recent posts truly mean I'll consider it, but I'm doubtful of that happening.

 

(As an aside, we might have to limit these games down to a 2 Mafia setup. This game is being plagued by people having to drop out.)

Let me make sure I understand you correctly - you are claiming to have a role linked with CD where you knew each others' alignments at the start of the game? You are saying you have 'no powers' - but you obviously have SOMETHING. Having come forward this much, you now need to do a full roleclaim in order to let us critique if your claim seems plausible; lack of information or being vague can only hurt you at this point.

 

Please post the following:

* EXACT NAME of your role (you can say this much verbatim without being modkilled)

* PARAPHRASE of your role PM (i.e. take the whole role PM and use synonyms for a few words so it's not an exact copy/paste)

 

The main point in your favor thus far is that this is VERY early for a roleclaim, and there was no clear need for you to do so other than working an attack against Tracker.

Possibilities:

1) Nerau and CD had some kind of linked role: i.e. Nerau is telling the truth

2) Nerau is mafia claiming a false role that cannot be tested or proven wrong

3) I have completely misunderstood Nerau's roleclaim and none of the above applies.

 

Side note:

This seems annoyingly familiar to when d3mon roleclaimed on day 1 last game; remember you're playing with very curious and paranoid people who WILL pick apart vague statements you make. Trying to be sly by alluding to a role or role information will only make people push you for more detail - and you'll look weaker when you roleclaim in response to questioning instead of doing it yourself. There's no such thing as a half-roleclaim; you either fully come out with it or you keep all of it hidden.

Please, share. If you're going to only make reference to some possible insight you are doing much more harm than good. If you don't share now, the mafia might just as well night kill you, knowing that at worst they killed a townie and at best they prevented some sort of information, power role or not, from being disseminated to the town. While I don't necessarily agree with your decision to ought yourself, you might as well go all the way at this point.

 

The vote standing on Nerau from Tracker is concerning. I think it is at least prudent to hear him out before a vote on possible suspicions. I agree that at this point these posts seem to be vague enough to stir up more paranoia than insight, but I do think it is wise to hear the full breadth of that vagary. Maybe the information Nerau has is vague in itself, hence his unclarity, but if it is helpful we can use it somehow and if we lynch him anyway, or if we decide it is a lie, certainly we can glean something from that lie.

 

To restate my position, If Nerau does have something it is probably best to share it in as much detail as possible without a modkill. While I would not have advocated he done so in the first place, what is done is done and if he is night killed or lynched without us getting to the bottom of that information we might loose something very valuable. Especially since our cop is playing rather close to the chest. Probably not a bad decision.

As for KevinH's vote on me, it think it just keeps with his current pattern of inconsistency. No cop has indicated any scummyness on my part. In fact, I don't think it has even been alleged. However, I find myself voted on without any merit from KevinH. His justification, for obvious reasons I think, is garbage. It is nothing more than a shallow retaliatory vote. It does little more than bolster my previous claims on his inability to follow his own directions concerning on what grounds we make a vote. Seeing as no one else has said much on the subject I'll leave it at that. My vote on him will stand for the time being.

Maybe I missed something, but I dont see where this came from. I saw ccabal's request for a replacement, which was curious for its immediacy and the fact that Angel actually has a planned return date... but I dont follow how that's the scumtell you're speaking of. Please explain?

And now I'm a little more confused. You vote for ccabal based on his "replace Angel!" comment, and then in your next post vote to lynch Angel? I can't argue that Angel going inactive won't help anyone, but that quick vote reversal DOES strike me as noteworthy.

 

As for the rest... I hadnt realized that Monday was the end of the day!

 

Current suspicions:

Nerau: Roleclaimed "Friend" - linked role with CD, mid-day PMs and mutual role confirm. However CD's role was listed only as "Customer", and there is no way to confirm this claim.

Tracker: Initial attack on me using "experience" criteria that he did not seem to apply equally to other players, then withdrew vote and re-targeted when I responded. Could be scum trying to see where suspicion will stick, or could also just be town looking for reactions. Leaning more scummy than not, but if Nerau is scum then his attack on Tracker would make Tracker look more town.

 

However the current majority of 4 votes is on Angel, so I'll examine that:

 

The trend for Angel seems to be based on his response to d3mon's random vote - an immediate counter-vote with no elaboration. Kazio added that Angel has generally few posts anyway, and now we have the fact that Angel is going to be away for a while - a fact reported by Nerau, curiously enough. I'd say I haven't seen enough of Angel to really judge him scum, but he's hardly posted so I guess that's not surprising. I'm already suspicious of Nerau, but I'm not sure if that link between him and Angel is notable or not - Nerau could genuinely be just relaying information, or he could be talking with Angel in mafia chat.

 

In either case I want to hear from Nerau before I put a vote down. At present I will vote for either Nerau or Angel most likely, unless another suspect becomes available.

Preston, to answer your question about Angel I can confirm that he is away from his computer at the moment. I'm not sure what the reason is, but he did leave and post in the Gone Fishing thread about it.

 

Lastly, as an aside, I'm not going to pull the same gambit twice Preston. These sorts of maneuvers don't achieve results or, worse, achieve the wrong results if their intent is known.

Similar to the game where ccabal was all but mod-confirmed to be town due to mod error, this correction has changed the facts and made Nerau basically proven town. This adds additional weight to his attack on Tracker, and removes any suspicion people had on him.

 

At this point I'm not sure if there's any BENEFIT to those logs being shared unless CD had some insight that the rest of us would benefit from. Up to Nerau, really - I was going to examine what he claimed CD wrote to see if it actually SOUNDED like CD, but RoT's post removes the need for that verification.

 

So now I have to decide between Angel and Tracker for voting. Per my earlier post I dont have a strong opinion on Angel, but others' suspicions combined with the prospect of inactivity do carry some weight. As for Tracker... Nerau attacked him, which carries some weight too - but I cant really criticize Tracker's response since prior to RoT's correction Nerau DID appear suspicious. I need more information and dont see enough evidence to sway five votes in favor of Tracker at present, so for the moment I guess I'm fine with it being Angel - especially if RoT doesn't extend the day.
