There were a grand total of three posts after day start prior to your vote on me. If that vote was you randomly 'welcoming me back to the game', I'd understand that - the Random Voting Stage is indeed random, and I had just voted for Robert in an equally random way prior to you voting for me. But when you then say you are "pretty clear on who you want to vote for", that turns your vote from something random to you sticking with it. If you're 'getting a scummy feeling from me since the beginning', I invite you to point out what Ive done since the beginning that caught your eye. 

 

I was not inclined to just vote back for you due to the OMGUS factor, but your insistence on clinging to your original vote with no expressed justification - and after having lurked for so long - is definitely catching my attention.

Indeed. Though I see no reason if we aren't going to have a day 1 lynch that we get all we can out of day 1. Meaning make it last. Maybe my stance on this has influenced him, or he's snapped. Which would be more entertaining though?

Let me make this perfectly clear.

 

"Nobody knows nothin'" (except the scum)

 

All of day 1 is random voting.

People think they know something, but they don't.

If we could get enough votes for no-lynch, that would be good.

Since we're not getting enough votes for no-lynch, a vote that's not going to cause a lynch is equivalent to a no-lynch vote.

 

The best course of action for the town is to go into day 2 with as many townies as possible.

 

So sure, we can dance around and vote here and there, and pretend that there's information to be gained. But the reality is that the scum are pretending to be townies.

 

The one piece of information that can be had from day 1 is activity. So I try to post and let you all know that I'm active. I might even post a post-count later. I want active players in the end-game so when it's time to lynch, I consider activity level as one of the factors in deciding for whom to vote.

 

So far, I've made votes for no-lynch, Robert, and Electric Mango. Make of it what you will, but nobody knows nothin'!

Indeed, we don't really know anything. But I disagree with you that activity levels are the only info that can be gained Day 1, and that they're only useful towards the end of the game.

Scum knows something so it will show in the interaction between people.

Sounds like you've caught Kevin fever.

We want to see people talk, definitely. Voting information may be useful later - doubly so if someone tries a little too hard (and yes, I am aware of the irony that my walls of text may be seen as trying to hard!).

 

Right now Rafay has my attention due to the combination of his lurking and the "scummy feeling" on me that he is unwilling to elaborate on. Dman finally showed up and started with a vote on Montosh with no elaboration - also suspect. My vote remains on Lyner from his earlier "much scummy" on Robert with less elaboration.

 

I understand that this is day 1 and all votes are going to be random to an extent - as Kevin said people may THINK they know things, even without any 'real' information. It's that grey area where people act on what they THINK they know that is interesting - people will spin elaborate theories by picking apart posts people make, and use those to justify their votes. It's part of the paranoia that is Mafia, and part of what makes this game fun for people who like to overthink everything! 

 

Votes based on obvious jokes contained within the same post or OMGUS (meaning OMG U Suck for the new players - idea of voting for someone just because they voted for you) can be pretty transparent and easy to understand what the person is thinking. These votes don't need as much elaboration, if any. 

 

So when someone posts a non-obvious vote and then seems utterly uninterested in even a cursory level of explaining their reasoning like Rafay and Dman have done, it catches interest. Dman hasn't posted a second time yet - I'm willing to keep an open mind there, especially if he becomes more active. 

 

I'm not letting Lyner off the hook just yet, but I think he's slipping to the #2 position in my list thus far, in favor of Rafay.

meh, Day 1 is just really fluff posting and a lot of random voting. This day really should be used to winnow out the inactives and lurkers.

 

But in any case, here's my preliminary thoughts on everyone based on their posting:

 

 

Players who I think might be scum:

• Nick the Great -  lot of lurking going on here. Only contribution has been voting for Dman and unvoting. however he is new to the game so maybe he is feeling things out.
• Imran - townie providing a lot of insightful comments and vital analysis
• Electric Mango - posting mainly fluff and not much content. might be worth it to keep an eye on him
• Preston - very active and posting a lot of analysis. good townie points early on.
• Montosh - medium activity and posting some analysis. not clear yet if he is supporting lynch or no lynch
• iSocialism - not much activity. some posts with content. need to keep an eye on to see if lurker mode is activated.
• Rafay - posting fluffs and voting without backing up with arguments. scummy moves but as has been seen from last 2 games, thats the way he plays when he is townie or scum.
• Robert2424 - some useful posts. will be interested to see him scum shortlist.
• Dman3726 - only 1 post. very inactive
• Lyner - mostly fluff posts. on the watchlist as one with lurker mode activated.
• Kaziocore - not very active but some posts with content.
• kevinh - a lot of fluff posts sprinkled with some posts with content

The list just now that said you posted mainly fluff was Imran, not myself.

 

The only list I've posted was quoting Kevin's players-in-the-game-list, and calling THAT fluff.

 

I've referred to my own list but not written it in list form; right now it consists of Rafay, Lyner, and Dman, roughly in that order.

I see that I am getting mentioned for lurking.  I honestly don't know what ya'll want me to say, since I really do think no-lynch is the best.  If I see something important, I will take action on it, but I think there's nothing to gain from more than likely lynching town on random votes or activity based.  Like it was also mentioned, I'm still learning the game, so don't know exactly what to post.  So far what has happened seems mostly like random votes and bickering over said random votes, that's why I'm not involved.  When we have more to go off of, I'll start to talk more I hope.
