Hilary's running. Who else?

We now have Clinton running for presidency, who else do we have? And what are their odds?

Just for a quick example: Hilary's campaign video is already at 3.5k dislikes...

Guys, sorry for interrupting your discussion :) ,but I've always wondered what the deal is with Democrats and Republicans in the USA.Why is there that ''rivalry'' let's say between them???  Can somebody, please, explain this to me??? :)

Name recognition is doing a lot for Trump right now, plus everyone believed he would do exactly what he has done since the 80's and keep saying he might run until he never did. So no one has ever taken him seriously... until he actually is running. Getting 15% support isn't hard when you have a name like Donald. He is one of the most successful businessmen in American history. What you have to pay attention to is that including second choice he gets 27% out of 16 candidates. That's huge.

I said before that Donald Trump may be the President that the USA needs, but there are a lot of people that don't like him. Why? Because he's rich, doesn't care if everyone likes him, and he's totally full of himself. If you made 10 billion dollars all by yourself... you would be too. If he can go into these debates and make sense, as he's burning everyone else down on the stage, he'll get traction... and there will be no stopping him. He'll burn through all the Republicans... and the Democrats, including Hillary, will turn into dog chowder.

What scares me about this is if he doesn't do well enough to earn the nomination, and then runs third party because he can't take losing. He takes 20% of the vote and Hillary is President with 43% of the vote... just like her husband. But I do believe when it comes down to the line... Trump is smart enough not to be the one that gives us Clinton. If he wins the Republican nomination, I will support him. He's an awesome leader, that gets things done.

Him being Republican candidate means all the Hispanic and remaining liberal vote goes to Hillary.

Him being independent means he overlaps and splits alot of Republican vote.

Both scenarios lead to Hillary being your next President.

And that is the big problem with Trump, he could win the race to candidacy, but not the Whitehouse, and while on his way, he'll wreck Republicans more than anyone else.

He is the best weapon Democrats could dream of.

I would say Trump would get about the same Hispanic vote as Mitt Romney. What you forget is Hillary will not get the same Black vote as Barack Obama. The Blacks have no love for the Hispanics. I really hate all this division and separating people off in racial, economic, and gender blocks. It does not promote a united country, but that's what Democrats love to do. It keeps people angry.

With Trump we're getting into untested ground. He's not your text book Republican... he's a businessman. He has donated millions to Democrats through the years, as well as Republicans. If they attack him for being rich, he will not do what Mitt did. Mitt tried to downplay his success. He would wear blue jeans and a shirt with no tie, roll up the sleaves and try to be someone he's not. You will never see Trump wearing anything but a suit... and a tie that cost more than others make in a week. If someone tries to attack Trump for being rich... he will say "I'm richer than you think I am". Trump has 50 times the wealth of Mitt Romney.

Hillary will arrive in a black windowed SUV... Trump will arrive in a helicopter with his name on it. I can drive 5 miles down the road and there is a 64 story building with his name on top. Trump would run the USA like his own company, he doesn't understand second place... and prosperity and profit would come to any American taking part. It's hard to imagine that the USA can set aside their programming and support a man that has made so much, and made so many right decisions... but if you don't support success, then you support failure.

aaaah Trump, the all american dream for you all to see and be annoyed at you can't have it.

Well, not only that but it's politics. They believe in different political ideologies - and when it comes to politics or religion - if your view is different you can't be friends.

I've been waiting for today and I have officially chosen my first choice ticket and will take it to the convention as a Nevada Delegate.

Scott Walker and Marco Rubio.

His announcement speech today was everything I wanted to hear, and Governors always make the best Presidents.

We should have a few candidates dropping out after the next few days. They have to report their donations, and some will have to show they have no support. Those that do not make the top 10 for the debate stage will be clinging by their fingernails.

Grab some popcorn... it will be a good show.

So,it's just about ideological differences? If so,could you please elaborate on that? :)

The simple explaination:

Republicans are Conservative. Low taxes and small government. Individual rights and responsibility. Capitalist economy with merit based wage scale tethered to supply and demand. Strong military and strict following of the US Constitution.

Democrats are Liberal. High taxes and huge government. Selective rights and responsibilty. Socialist economy with union based wage scale tethered to... nothing. Anti-War and bend the US Constitution to whatever seems fun at the time.

That's as nice as I can be.

Very well said.

Betsy is right except you should know that the US "right" doesn't give a shit what the rest of the world does in terms of economics and society. We just live and do what we believe is right. Everyone else can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt us.

kinda works the other way around aswell :D

Others have pointed it out, but the use of the word liberal here is odd.

At least from what I heard, democrats seem to have kept the policy of low taxes for the rich going on. Using socialism to even midly describe the democrats is laughable(unless Bernie Sanders wins :P). They don't seem too anti-war, though anti-war should be a good thing I think, considering Iraq. What examples are there of them bending the constitution(which I think, by the way, is a really great document, which establishes the only real official secular state).

Just an outsider's comments.

To put it simply. They are two parties that have always worked together to dominate the government. They may sincerely disagree on certain issues, but they are both the same exact party if you ask me. These elections are just for show.

Republicans are neoconservatives and Democrats are slightly more liberal. The major issues they disagree on are actually pretty mild. Like abortion, welfare, etc. In reality, there is little difference between them, they both favor the same massive government and military industrial complex and the whole republican/democrat competition is just a historical past time. No other party has ever made it into the presidency. It's always been Republican/Democrat for the entire existence of the US. Thus, they have far more historical influence than any other parties, so most Americans are probably completely oblivious to any other political party.

Another thing to add, is that these two parties have far more money to spend on political campaigns, so they completely drown out any message from any third party.

That's just how it's been since day one of the USA. Kinda like how Putin runs against cardboard cut outs of himself during Russian elections. It doesn't really matter who the president of the US is because the nation is actually run by bankers and political lobbyists. This is why when someone gets elected, they quickly become hated and accused of abandoning the promises they made in their campaigns.

An oligarchy, basically.

Montosh: Democrats are Liberals. When Liberal became an unpopular word they started calling themselves Progressives. It's based on socialist government programs that steal money from people... excuse me... I mean tax people. They will then redistribute the money to where they want it to go. Most of it gets lost in their pockets... I mean it falls through the cracks. Bernie Sanders will tell you he is the only honest Democrat. The only one that admits he's a Socialist.

Foxy: If Republicans and Democrats are the same... I guess the way you vote in 2016 will be a coin toss? I didn't think so :)

This is actually spot on. Americans are never satisfied with their president, no matter how much they praised and supported him(her) before the elections.

Lobbyists for some reason have a very big influence in the US. I interpret this as basically corruption but for some reason a lot of people don't see it as corruption.

Wrong... I still admire every President I ever voted for, and I supported every one I voted for as well. We haven't had a "her" yet.

It is corruption. It's called an oligarchy. Other than Russia, America is the single best *modern example of an oligarchy.

Well I still support Obama (who I voted for), but that doesn't mean the rest of America hates him, nor does it mean I don't recognize that half his campaign promises were BS. Obamacare for example turned out to be garbage and not what he promised. Now I just have another bill to pay for health insurance that covers nothing. It needs a lot more work, but it's still a step in right direction.

A step in the right direction for Obamacare would be to throw the garbage out and stop forcing people to pay for what they can't afford to use. I'm confused a little because you say it "covers nothing". The problem with Obamacare plans on the exchanges... I have heard... is they cover everything, and the deductables are so high that no one can afford to pay enough in bills for the coverage to kick in. I get health insurance through my wife's employer, so I have no experience with the exchange policies, but even our deductables went too high, and our prescriptions are no longer $5.00 like they use to be. It's not worth it for us to just go to the doctor anymore.

Healthcare should never be a mandated issue. Trying to place limits and requirements on healthcare is impossible. Some treatments cost millions over years, and it's just crazy to try to make everyone pay the cost of all healthcare needs. What you will eventually get is everyone paying... and no one receiving. Just another big government program taking money from you.

I meant that democrats are not liberals in the traditional sense of the word. The differences between are mostly on the social scale and not their economics. Those socialist programs have been the most successful programs in your history, and the taxes are necessary for those programs and a functioning society.

Many countries seem to do healthcare relatively well. I believe that 45 000 die because of a lack of insurance every year. The two parties are different as one is more socially liberal than the other, but both are still essentially bought by special interests and large corporate entities, so their policy on economic welfare for the rich(the largest welfare program in modern history) remains consistent for both parties, even if some individuals have different views on it.

You're a Canadian. I don't care how liberal you think Democrats are. The U.S. economic system is the most successful program in the history of the world. It was created by Alexander Hamilton and it's not a socialist program. It's taken liberal Democrats about 50 years to bring that program to the brink of collapse with socialist programs. Your bar of success is set pretty damn low.

45,000 people didn't die last year because of lack of insurance. They died because something killed them. Having insurance doesn't keep you from dying. How many people died with insurance? Oh sorry... that kind of thinking doesn't help your point.

You pay for health insurance because you might get sick. You might need help paying for medical care. If you don't want to pay for it, well that's on you. No one goes without treatment. We have a thing called Medicaid for anyone that fails to take care of themselves. Your life is not my responsibility. Stealing my money because you're a failure in life... is just theft.

I'm simply not even voting. If I do, it will be for "Half-eaten pop-tart" or "Mildly appealing road kill." Something stupid to voice my displeasure and maybe amuse someone in the process.

The way I understand it, is that I was given several options through several insurance providers. The better the doctors/providers/plans got, the more expensive it was. I could barely afford the cheapest one and simply went with that. Which form what they told me, sounds like it's not even worth having because it covers almost nothing.

Overall, all Obamacare actually did is, rather than provide socialized health care, it simply kept the privatized health care system and forced everyone to pay for it. However that doesn't sound like the original bill I read (prior to any changes).

It's a step in the right direction (towards socialized health care), but it sure as fuck is not socialized health care. It's just forcing people to pay for the same shit.

I'm so sorry sweetheart. The bill you read was probably the bill passed by the House... vastly different from the Senate bill that was passed without anyone reading it, in the dead of night, on Christmas Eve, using reconcilliation... because with Scott Brown taking the murderer Ted Kennedy's seat... we would have stopped it. Blame Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama. I do hope that we can change things for you soon.
