May 21, 201511 yr comment_779995 Following up on something I talked about a couple days ago... Harry Enten over at 538 wrote a piece about the Republican debates. It looks like they will allow the top 10 in polling on the stage. What I find most funny is his "I refuse to include Donald Trump" line... no matter what your opinion is of Trump, he would be an outstanding President and probably what we need most. The problem is no one believes he is serious about running, and he has an attitude... not good for anyone seeking an elected position. http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/the-gop-candidates-most-likely-to-be-left-out-of-the-debates/ Report
May 21, 201511 yr comment_780008 depending on the GOP candidate: someone crawling over the border. You're just a barrel of laughs. .I try, it keeps myself from going full cynical and that is always a sign of going to far .It must be nice to be able to sit in Belgium and throw shit on millions of people you don't even know, but I guess it's how you deal with your own insignificance..Ooow yes, how sad that your LARGE nation has to hold so many asylum (any reasons given for it) while our SMALL nation is probably so insignificant, nobody even knows where we are. no wait, let me stop you right there in your round of "a barrel of laughs" and let me point you to some facts. Let me get the UNHCR involved, they like to keep statistics (like any good bureaucratic organisation does) about these kind of things, I shall take the first google link I got with numbers of 2010. Go to page 14 (page 20-21 has the raw data), look at the top left. Oooow, USA seems to level at ~50.000 asylum seekers each year, offcourse these are the "new people", on page 21 we see that the USA has about 270k in total. But whats this, on that page 14 graph, there is a Belgium We are in the top 10! W00TLES!! No wait...Howmany are that, seeing the graph ~20k, following page 20 statistics roughly 37k in total. Now, we have about 1/7th your amount of refugees/asylum seekers, but we are like 1/28th your population, quick math tells me thats 4X your amount in relative terms Dear lord where are we stocking all these asylum seekers that are clearly greater in numbers than the USA, while the USA has so much issues that even a common republican voter can't go outside without tripping over some illegal mexican. Now I know what you are going to say: "these are the registered ones!", yeah grats, and you think we don't have unregistered ones? perhaps our nation is to small for them even to hide in .The Republicans are strongly against illegal immigration..Grats, last I heared in general ANY political party is against illegal things..This has become a huge problem from decades of leadership unwilling to confront the issue..Decades means also republicans, hence me being somewhat cynical .Currently it's easier to break the law and "crawl over the border" than to follow the law and become a welcome guest..Well, grats to finding out what it is to life in a Western World being postered as "the place to be"..How did you handle the 15 million people that just came into Belgium without notice?.Seeing as we got about 25% people of "immigrant nature", I think we are doing fine in that catagory. Your 15M is a measely 5% grats??.Oh yeah... never happened... since your whole country is roughly the size of New York City..Depending what you want to compare, we are almost half the pop of NYC at roughly the same size. All metropolitan measurements offcourse.. Report
May 21, 201511 yr comment_780041 Looks like I win the bet. I was wondering if I could get you to post something more than a few words. I've been dealing with liberal bomb throwers all my life. Every American living today can trace their family back to somewhere else. It's not even possible for us to be against immigration... so it's closer to 100%. It does not make us racist because we want our laws enforced, which was your implication. We have two political parties that have great contrast... not three political parties that are just three different degrees of socialism. We can take care of ourselves just fine. Report
May 21, 201511 yr comment_780043 what you won from whom? Alot of people try to bait me into 5+ words calling me a "liberal bomb thrower"? do please explain what that even mans (regardless if I am "it" or not) never said you were racist, everyone has some form of "family first" principle, its nature. your 2 political parties contrast great, on the 50% political scale the rest of the world uses. But you guys are "widening" the devide between the 2, which is something of an evolution I guess. I also understand that the system works for the USA, same as I get that alot of Russians like Putin for reasons others may only describe as "look, fancy torso man riding on horseback!" atleast you didn't call it "communism", its funny when europe gets called communist Report
May 22, 201511 yr comment_780195 A liberal bomb thrower is what happens in an exchange of opinions and ideas that suddenly takes the conversation completely off the rails. It typically will create a false determination on a personal level to insult someone because they can't win the arguement. Conservatives are treated like garbage because they strongly support things like balanced budgets. In a liberal mind, things like fiscal responsibilty work against their main goal of taking as much money as they possibly can from people who earn it and giving it to everyone else that will not earn it. I took this comment from a liberal bomb thrower off a left leaning news site during a debate about the Supreme Court's upcoming ruling on Obamacare subsidies as an example... I am a White Conservative ChristianI love Jesus and God.I hate Black PeopleI hate Hispanic PeopleI hate Muslim PeopleI hate Poor PeopleI hate Gay People.I especially hate the Black POTUSI hate hate hateBut I am very tolerant As you can see this person just wants to take the position of the poster, define who he is, and declare that because he is against Obamacare, and any form of government controlled heathcare, that he is this hateful person he has described. It's not true. Republicans are the engine that runs the USA. When Americans are in trouble... when they call anyone for help... Police, Fire, Food, Housing, Energy, Loans, Jobs, War, or to pay the tax revenue to support it all... they call Republicans to do the heavy lifting, and we're treated like shit for it. Think what would happen if we all said "fuck it" and just let it all go for a while? Read Atlas Shrugged. Report

May 24, 201511 yr comment_780486 "but is local money ok to do foriegn bidding?"... I'm not really understanding this question, I can't give an opinion if I don't know your meaning. What the American people do with their money is their business. I'm a Libertarian and believe everyone should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. "Hurt" means actual damages, such as losing cash, position, property, or personal injury... hurt "feelings" are bullshit and get into the realm of "political correctness", which is the work of insane liberalism that wants to control society by making specific human emotion a crime. That's why I don't believe in "Hate Crime"... it's trying to punish people for feeling. This is getting off the rails of money influence but it's my way of saying I don't really care.I'm with you all the way regarding the political correctness etc. By hurt I mean people loosing money or getting in the way of harm (soldiers/civilians) due to some policy influenced by xyz local or foreign lobby money. June 17, 201511 yr comment_784243 Donald Trump? The crowd is roaring....with laughter! Next thing you know, Ronald McDonald is in on the clown bus too. On a more serious note, he is just going to take space from candidates perceived to be more serious. GOP needs to wind this down from a royal rumble to a more reasonable number of contenders. Too many divisions in resources isn't helpful after a certain point. Also, do we actually have a politician who doesn't lie? Edited June 17, 201511 yr by Shahenshah Report
June 17, 201511 yr comment_784287 I was just as surprised as everybody else. He has talked about running for decades, but no one thought he was serious enough to take a chance at losing. Trump will not be patient enough to earn trust. He will burn everyone to the ground to win. The best thing that can happen is to let him piss off enough people that he can't stay in the top ten, and maybe he'll pull out because he can't get his way. Donald Trump may well be the President we need most. Someone that gets things done rather than give lip service and enrich their friends. But I don't think he will do well with the getting elected part, and my fear is he will destroy everyone else that is running for the job on his way down. This is what can really hurt us Republicans. I feel Ross Perot all over again... but this time on steroids. Oh yeah I almost forgot the second part... yes, if Hillary's mouth is moving, she's lying. Report
July 7, 201511 yr comment_787147 Donald Trump is already losing the election and he only just recently made it public that he intends to run. His Mexico rants and various other beliefs will just make him more of a laughing stock. We all know Trump is a joke anyway - remember his statements that Obama wasn't really an American and insisted on seeing his birth certificate? He likes to divert attention from important matters. Imagine him running the US. I think Oprah Winfrey should run for President. At least then every American can get something out of the deal, she likes to give freebies out to everyone. On a more serious note, I think Clinton would win the election, or at least have a very strong chance of being elected VP, that's if the Republicans don't have good candidates. If I was an American I would vote for Clinton. Once again the public's attention is diverted from important issues and the focus is unimportant things such as deleted e-mails... Her husband was President, she is/was a Senator and she was Secretary of State. She already has more experience than anyone else. I don't think Americans realize just how influential she is in the world. I bet she has every Head of State and every important person in the world in her phone book. In a time when US foreign policy is misdirected and the US image is tarnished a skilled diplomat is what's required. There's no one else currently in the running who has a better chance of fixing things than Clinton. I'm obviously speaking purely of foreign policy - I'm not really aware of her track record on local issues such as taxes, which Americans place a lot of emphasis on. From a foreigners perspective, this is what the US have to do in the coming years, and obviously they need a President that can achieve this: Reduce their deficit. Stop spending so much money.Create a strong middle class.Improve education (with all of the infrastructure and resources that schools in the US have - something is really off with their curriculum).Improve foreign relations. Stop getting involved in wars and conflicts. Focus on your own livelihoods and don't get involved in the internal affairs of foreign countries.Make nice with Russia and China. We don't want a second Cold War, which is already starting. There's no reason why 3 superpowers cannot co-exist.In general: they should stop being the 'bully' in the story and force their own beliefs and ways of doing things onto others. Report
July 7, 201511 yr comment_787151 Looking at your list of goals... the only one that is running that would check all those boxes is Rand Paul. I'm very happy you joined us here in IRON... I'm also very happy you won't be voting here in the USA. Well, there's nothing that says American capitalism more than political donors. If a Republican wins the election then I would not be surprised to see the US at war with who knows who in 2016 - 2019. The sole reason I would never support a Republican is because of their conservative views that usually include "Death to enemies of America!". You're right though, I cannot vote in the US election nor would I want to - so my views are nothing more than that, a view. Report
July 7, 201511 yr comment_787160 Nothing says American Capitalism more than everyone working and earning a living. Under the incompetence of Barack Obama, we now have about a hundred million people out of the workforce, and about 50 million people on foodstamps. Now we see what he meant about "making history". You seem to believe that because G.W. Bush took us to war after 9-11 that only Republicans get us into wars. The country demanded we go to war after 9-11, and if W didn't take us to war he would have faced a very angry US population. Republicans avoid war by creating the most powerful military and keeping other powers in check so they will not overstep. It's Democrats that take us to war my friend... World War I, Woodrow Wilson, Democrat. World War II, Franklin Roosevelt, Democrat. Korean War, Harry Truman, Democrat. Viet Nam, Lyndon Johnson, Democrat. That's a lot of war that could have been avoided with a strong military and early US intervention. If China takes care of China it does not bother me. China is attacking our economic infrastructure... we have to deal with it.Putin is doing what he's doing because he knows Obama is a pussy. We need to elect the biggest badass we can come up with to deal with these issues... and it's not Hillary Clinton. Report

Republicans avoid war by creating the most powerful military and keeping other powers in check so they will not overstep. I believe my statement was: "The sole reason I would never support a Republican is because of their conservative views that usually include "Death to enemies of America!" which is sort of what you just state yourself. Republicans use military authority and force and 'bully' other countries and people to enforce their foreign policy - which is why every region the US Armed Forces have been active in is a mess. You will not solve today's problems with another Republican - that is my point. Regarding your list of Presidents who have deployed soldiers overseas - I will remove WWI and WWII from that list as any President would have gotten involved in the World Wars sooner or later. But to look at the Republican list, 1. Iraq 2. Afghanistan 3. Gulf War 4. Panama 5. Grenada 6. Lebanon. This is also a big number of wars/conflicts that Republicans got involved in. So your statement that Republicans avoid war by bullying isn't really true. " China is attacking our economic infrastructure " China is not attacking the US economic infrastructure. China may have copied some things and sell it for cheap, but that's hardly an attack. They're competing in the world economy and the US cannot keep up. This is what we call American arrogance. Your entire stance gives that away immediately. You also have the typical view that if it's not for-America, it's immediately against-America. Any country is free to participate in the world economy. China managed to create products for cheap (and we can go into living standards, workers' compensation etc. but that's really not the point), China manages to export a lot more products than the US anticipated and China is investing in many countries, many in Africa, which are resource-rich. The US isn't capable/isn't willing to invest so much money in impoverished countries. I see this as pure jealousy and nothing more. Our intentions are obviously not to offend one another but to have a healthy debate so I hope there are no hard feelings. Report

She did good work representing the US and she was very dedicated to her job, at least that's my perspective.
