Republican Debates

I know you guys want to know what I think about last nights debate. It was my birthday yesterday, so I was a bit busy until late last night when I watched the whole thing on my DVR. First I will list my thoughts on if I feel they improved, hurt, or fell flat.

Donald Trump - Down

Ben Carson - Down

Jeb Bush - Up

Ted Cruz - Flat

Carly Fiorina - Up

Scott Walker - Flat

Marco Rubio - Up

Chris Cristie - Up

Mike Huckabee - Down

Rand Paul - Up

John Kasich - Down

The big question is will this bring down Donald Trump?... my guess is no. I felt he made a grave tactical error last night when he strongly went hard against George W. Bush. Trump was in the Reagan Library with hundreds of hard Conservative Republicans that voted for W. twice, and they all have great respect for the Bush family. It set up Jeb to receive the loudest applause of the entire night, but Trump was talking to the 22.9 million people that were watching on TV, so it may have been a smart move looking at the big picture.

After he made a remark to Rand Paul about him polling at 1%, I think someone (probably his daughter) got to him during a commercial break and told him to lay off, that he was coming off as too much of an asshole, because he was a total nice guy the rest of the night. My guess is he will remain on top.

I love Marco Rubio. He just radiates that he has all the chops needed to command every issue. Everyone just needs to be educated that some people do not look their age.

I thought that CNN did an awful job. The questions were asked in a way to start fights. "Senator Cruz, you said you love bacon... Senator Paul has said you're a pig for eating too much bacon... How do you respond?" Plus you had 3 moderators, but Jake Tapper talked 98% of the time. The format was stupid, but they were smart enough to give it 3 hours knowing that 2 would not cut it with 11 people. We all need this to get trimmed down, and I'm looking forward to more of them dropping out.

I can go into detail with my thoughts if anyone is interested in chiming in.

nobody has done a "socialist state", at best you got some tutolitarian guys running around claiming they did.

That said, any true -ism is bound to fail on the basis that not even the guy/girl running the joint can be consistant with the ideology being used.

Totally agreed on the second point, which directly explains why the first is also true.

Exactly. Beautifully said. SAme point about N. Korea. The communist manifesto was used by megalomaniacs to pursue their agendas of domination and control not benefiting the masses.

Heck, I sincirely doubt you could classify the communist manifesto as "socialist", cause while not having read it once I can assume it speaks badly over "outsiders" no? Being completely "socialist" would mean a complete lack of distinction between people (which is on itself laughable, but sadly used the wrong way in the world now).

Even trying to be "social" is hard without going into complete nationalistical tendencies, which devolve into a "we vs them" mentality with a narrowing "we" come time.

I noted it at the start of Obama's presidency that the poor have "given up" on the american dream. The "finding of a honey pot with just enough effort". The poor want something tangible now instead of a dream they know is held by an increasingly sparse amount of the population.

What is happening now is that the "middle class", or rather the people just above the poor, are starting to lose "the dream" aswell. But in distinction to the poor (who never had anything before), they rather see that someone (something?) is taking away "their dream" and as such they react violently. Violently towards a perceived scape goat offered up by the quick of tongue who call themselfes "defenders of the masses".

What you have now is the roots of nationalism intertwining with a (mistakingly) effort in pinpointing the root of the loss felt. You try to find scape goats, you try to find "quick fixes", you try to find your lost dream. And while you do so, you lose your own self and fought over rights into an ever growing "club" of people who now think for you.

I am no understanding this, so perhaps you can explain further?    Trumps positions haven't changed, neither have Cruz's. Trump is still the utterly despicable human turd that claims hard questions are caused by menustration, makes up stories abou Muslims in New Jersey cheering 9/11, and openly mocks the disabled. Things you said you didn't like him doing.    So given that, why would you switch your support to him over a "tactical error?" Policy wise he is still off his tits crazy. Personality wise he is still a scumbag. What is it you are supporting?

Ice!!! You crack me up man... I guess you believe everyone is entitled to an opinion, unless of course, they are running for President. You hate Donald Trump... I get it. I guess you hate him because there are people that insult him, and call him names. So he insults people, and calls them names... and then you insult him, and call him names. It looks like a three way tie on the insulting and name calling scorecard. So let's get past that part and get to the issues.

Ted Cruz is a Republican that is running for President. Donald Trump on the other hand, is running for President as a Republican. Hillary Clinton is a Democrat that is running for President. Bernie Sanders is a Socialist, but he's running for President as a Democrat. I know this sounds confusing to some, but to me it's quite simple. I follow politics like most people breathe air.

Donald Trump has insulted people. Depending on your point of view... they deserved it. Most Republicans agree with him. Some think he was a little harsh and maybe went further than he should, but still they agree with him. Anyone that has been attacked by Donald Trump is either hurting our country, or has attacked him first. So the lesson to learn is if you can't take the heat and don't want to be laid waste by Donald Trump, don't attack him. He will always defend himself, and he will always defend us, and I like that about him.

Donald Trump has never said anything that affects me personally. He never interfered with Federal Bankruptcy laws to ensure Unions bosses get taken care of, as stockholders lose everything. He never caused my friend, and the person I do work for, to be forced to lose his franchises, and close 4 auto dealerships, and lay off over a thousand people. He has never taken a trillion dollars of taxpayer money, and given it to his friends and supporters. He has never lied about a lying spouse, destroyed the lives of their enemies, and then claim to be the standard bearer for the cause of those they destroyed. Donald Trump has never taken away my prescription coverage and tripled my insurance deductible. Donald Trump has never ordered the IRS to deny tax shelter from political opponents, while his friends get everything they need. Donald Trump never allowed 4 Americans to die for his own cause, and then lie to the entire nation about why it happened. Donald Trump has never allowed a Federal agency to let Veterans die as they are waiting on a secret wait list, to be added to the real wait list.

I can go on and on with the reasons why I will vote for Donald Trump over anything called a Democrat.

I am a very proud and patriotic American citizen. I wave the flag and thump my Constitution. I'm the type that when I see a cop having dinner before he has to go back out on that street, to maybe die... I'll pick up his check. I'm the type that when I'm in an airport, and I see a young man in uniform that is either coming home after not seeing his family for nine months, or leaving and will not see his family for nine months... I walk up to him, shake his hand, look him straight in the eyes, and say thank you for your service... because I know he's doing it for me. So what did you call me up there? That's right... I'm a despicable scumbag human turd... yeah okay, I'll take that... for Mr. Trump.

You haven't actually answered the question.

Given that Cruz hasn't changed his policies, and Trump hasn't changed his policies, why are you shifting support from one to the other?

As for the statement that Trump only attacks people who attack him, that isn't really true. Had the Muslim Community of New Jersey attacked him? No. And then he dragged the reporter into the argument, and when he defended his reputation (by pointing out Trumps use of his stories to back the ridiculous claim was a lie) Trump attacked him for being disabled.

Hi Ice... let me say it another way. I will support the Republican that wins.

If you do not believe that Muslims were not celebrating the attack on New York City on September 11, 2001... then I cannot help you. You may be one of those that believe it was done by someone else. You're a Rosie O'Donnell fan and she thinks Bush did it to get us into a war, and that goes along with your hatred for Republicans, so you dive right in to the conspiracy. I don't care which Muslims, or what Muslims, or the exact count, or the precise address, or how many were ordering pizza and beer. Muslims celebrated the attack on 9-11 in New York City... and the ones that didn't celebrate openly, were saying "YES!!!" on the inside. That's what I believe... and I think it is just as valid as your belief.

If you want to grab onto an issue to beat the facts out of it... try Benghazi  :o

The guy writes a hit piece on Donald Trump, and Donald Trump made fun of the guy. Are you implying that people don't make fun of Donald Trump? Are you implying that Donald Trump just picked some guy out of the crowd to make fun of? No... it's real simple... the guy wrote a hit piece on Donald Trump and he made fun of him. If you don't want Trump to make fun of you, then don't write about him. People like you just want to find anything they can use in desperate hope that it will somehow, some way, stop his momentum. I'll make it perfectly clear for you... there is nothing Trump will do that can force me into voting for Hillary Clinton.

If you don't like Donald Trump... don't vote for him... OH WAIT!... I forgot! YOU CAN'T VOTE!

Here's some Republican debate news... since this is a Republican debate thread.

The Republican National Committee, (RNC), has officailly canceled the NBC February 26 debate in Houston. Not surprised after that CNBC slime show they put on earlier. It was disgusting and only designed to make them all look bad, and the candidates themselves seized control and turned it into a very watchable debate.

So it's been rescheduled for February 25, and hosted by the National Review, Telemundo, and Salem Communications.

This was a good move.

Firstly, you still are not answering the question. Why do you now want Trump to win over Cruz? Why are you now cheering on the candidate you yourself have described as disgusting? There is a difference between supporting the winner and stating who you want to become the winner, and that is what I am trying to understand.

As for the claims Trump made, he claimed that Muslims in New Jersey cheered on the streets, and cited the reporter in questions article to back it up. That was a lie and defamed the reporter because his report didn't say that. So attack number 1 comes from Trump (by misrepresenting the reporter), the attack is tied up in a blatant lie (that New Jersey Muslims celebrated 9/11 on the street), and Trumps response was to mock his disability. Which if you defend, means you are stating that you want as your Head of State, your main representative on the world stage, the man who the entire world will base their opinion of America on, to be a man who mocks people for having the misfortune to have a disability.

  • Author

I'm now mocking you... for having the misfortune to have a mental disability. I can't say it any more clear. I don't give a shit who the nominee is. It can be Marco Rubio, it can be Ted Cruz, it can be Donald Trump, Sarah Palin... hell we can dig up Ronnie... or Abe... I don't care which Republican I vote for... I will never, ever, not on my last dying breath, for any reason whatsoever... ever vote for a Democrat. Understand now? Do you get it? If not, I can't help you. I give up.

I'd say Cruz is probably the worst. He has that Hillary whiff of duplicity.

Trump at least gives off the vibe that yea I'm bullshitting all of you and you can all keep on sucking it. He is authentic.

We never asked you to vote Democrat, we are wondering why you are voting Republican.

Wich thusfar comes down to "they aren't democrats", which is a flimsly reason at best, a dangerous thinking-pattern at worst.

You stated not one page ago that you were switching support from Cruz to Trump in the Republican race for nomination. As far as I am aware there are no Democrats in that race. So the question is why Trump over Cruz as a desired nominee?
Lys, why is there no legal case against Hillary? Can a citizen not sue her for violating her oath or NDA in a public office? Isn't there some sort of law, it must be, what is everyone waiting for? I suppose, politically it would be better for Republicans to sue her after and if she's selected the nominee? Is that the plan here? I'm just a tad bit surprised. (Straight questions, no trolling)

I'm exhausted with this. You haven't been reading if you don't know why I will never vote Democrat. You guys seem to believe that I should not vote for Trump because I don't believe he's the best guy for the job. McCain and Romney were not either. I have told you all before that he may not be the one we want, but he may be the one we need. I will follow where the majority goes, and support the nominee. Is he a flawed candidate? You're damn right he is. They all are, in one way or another.

I don't think a citizen can bring suit for this. They do not hold the evidence, personal injury, and they may not be able to hold standing. It's a broken agreement of a Federal officer with the US Government. There are about 100 FBI agents investigating Hillary Clinton. From my understanding, she had a private server in her house, she spread classified information through unsecured channels, and she is now being investigated for using the State Department for personal gain... in other words, she did favors for people all over the world for Billy's large speaking fees, and donations to their slush fund... oh sorry... I mean foundation.

She's in big trouble, and when the FBI brings their recommendation to Loretta Lynch... all eyes will be on what she does. If she refuses to indict, the FBI will go nuts. You will see resignations and leaked information all over the place. I think Hillary is dead in the water. She can still run if she's under indictment, but man what fun that would be.

So its a case of plague or cholera? Seeing as principled as you like to be viewed, why vote for either then?

Or are we just right back at "it isn't a democrat" >_>

Now you are just trolling me, or simply refuse to accept my answers.

Funny I mentioned Sarah Palin earlier. She was on my mind because Trump had a big announcement today, and everyone expected an endorsement from Sarah... and that's what it is. It may help him in Iowa, but she does not carry the weight she used to. She's big with the Tea Party folks, but it won't help him in the general election. It may even hurt him with his very important crossover appeal, because she's a punchline with Democrats. We shall see.

Is there an expected timeline on this?

Also Iowa gov defacto just backed Trump, does that kill Cruz?

Is there an expected timeline on this? Also Iowa gov defacto just backed Trump, does that kill Cruz?

Timeline? The short answer is no. The FBI can sit on it, but they are not. I have heard from very reliable sources that something will come down in about 60-90 days, and that was about 2 weeks ago. When they expanded the investigation into the Clinton Foundation, this tells me they already have a case and found much more. For Clinton not to be indicted for grossly mishandling classified information... they would have to carve out the law so it doesn't apply to her, but applies to everyone else. That's where you get the phrase, "Too big to jail". Like she is somehow immune to the law because of who she is. This can't happen.

Iowa Governor comes out and trashes Cruz... no it doesn't kill Cruz, but it doesn't help him. Iowa grows a lot of corn. I would love for all that corn to be used to feed people, but more and more of it is used for ethanol as an additive to gasoline in an effort to make Progressives feel like they are doing something good for the environment. In reality, it just drives costs up, and it burns more energy to make than it's supposed to save, but Iowa is getting rich off it, and the Governors son is an ethanol lobbyist, so there is something behind it.

There are a lot of Christians in Iowa, and I believe they will stick with Cruz. It's still up in the air about how Trump's popularity will translate into caucus support. It's really important, because Trump is set to win New Hampshire and South Carolina already, and most everyone knows that if Trump wins Iowa first... there is really no way to stop him from winning the nomination. So if you hate Donald Trump, you really want him to lose Iowa.

So its a case of plague or cholera? Seeing as principled as you like to be viewed, why vote for either then?

I just keep wondering why you show to be a man who holds integrity and rightousness in high esteem yet your thought process for chosing the person who will lead your nation is "(s)he isn't a democrat".

Thusfar it boils down to you chosing the "pick of the week" from the 1 flavour you don't hate. Hence my "plague vs cholera" remark.

My rational for chosing my representation (on any level) starts from what said person would do, not how said persn would screw over the person I don't like.

So Trump got endorsed by Palin. Good or Bad? Thoughts.

I don't think it was a wise move by Trump considering that Palin's son just got arrested for DUI and waving weapons at Police.

I heard it was domestic, the waving was to his wife. Oh well, all families have problems... the solution is to marry the right person.

The Palin endorsement is good for Iowa and the primaries, bad for the general. So I think you will see less of Palin after he wins the nomination. Yes you read that right... everyone is going through the acceptance stage, that Trump will most likely win the nomination.

His VP choice will be extremely important. Some say Kasich, for his influence in Ohio, but Kasich has been very harsh on Trump, and I don't think they like each other at all. I think Cruz burned the bridge... so Rubio is the smart move. He has influence in Florida, he's Cuban and carries weight with Hispanics, and young people like him.

I will go into the Nevada Caucus on February 23, and support the front-runner as best I can. Trump is big in Las Vegas because of his friendship with Steve Wynn, his never ending support for our city, and our gambling industry. So I believe Trump will carry Nevada with little in the way.

February will tell us everything we need to know. :)
