But then you deny health care to those who can't afford it. And that's abhorrent and immoral.

We could very easily have a system like the NHS in the UK here in the US. But that comes down to hard work and the give and take to make that happen, which won't happen because "SOCIALISM!" and "STATES RIGHTS!!"

That's what we have Medicaid for. The only thing the ACA has done is make healthcare unaffordable for all the people who were already paying for it. People used to get into medicine because they wanted to help people... now they want to get rich. The abortion industry is totally built on getting rich. Hard to argue that killing babies doesn't go against that oath to "cause no harm". The ACA is on it's way out. It's not a matter of if... just when.

I don't think its gone. It needs major fixing tho, and I've admitted as much.

It can be fixed. And fixed well. But do the politicians have the proper backbone to fix it? Or will the tired old ideologies come into play?

You know, like the one where women are too stupid to know what to do with their bodies....Just because I personally don't agree with abortion doesn't mean that my position is the one EVERYONE should have. That's up to the woman who is considering it. And shaming her is just stupid.

But I digress.

Abortion is legal in the United States. I have no problem with any women terminating an unwanted pregnancy. She goes to the clinic, hands them her $300.00, and signs a document that says she is terminating her baby of her own free will. That's it. No insurance, no government funding, no taxes on anyone. It's her business, and no one can tell a women what to do about her reproductive rights. The father of course, may not agree, but who cares about how men feel about their children? We have courts for that part.

I don't have an issue with that position, and, I agree with the father not getting much of a say. Use a condom dammit.

Well... Hillary rolled out her "secret weapon" in front of 700 sleeping people, while Trump talks about the "blue dress" in front of 14,000 screaming fans. I don't know why she pulled him out now, she must believe that pulling him out now will cushion the fact that he was in someone else... and no one will care anymore in November... not likely.

Let me offer a capitalistic perspective on why states should offer a decent level of basic healthcare to their citizens. Consider it an investment in your workforce. Countless studies show that healthy workers perform better and this has a palpable effect on overall productivity. Moreover, if they're not financially crippled by unexpected medical expenses which may not be covered by their insurance they can spend their money in other economic sectors. This is not to say that complicated, or very expensive procedures should be covered by default, but you could always buy extra insurance for those.

In the end, everyone benefits: state will be more competitive, companies have more reliable employees, and people in general will be healthier and have more money to spend.

Bill Clinton had a lengthy affair with a White House intern by the name of Monica Lewinsky while he was President. When it was exposed, he denied it, and Hillary came out all over the media, said it was not true, and painted Monica as a lying gold digger that was part of a "right wing conspiracy" that has been out to get her husband for years.

Well of course, we can't have people lying about the President, so an investigation took place, and Bill Clinton declared to a Federal Grand Jury, that Monica Lewinsky is lying and he "never had sexual relations with that woman... Miss Lewinsky". Well then Miss Lewinsky was questioned by the same Federal Grand Jury, and she gave up the infamous blue dress that Bill had... uh... pleasured himself? on.

So, Bill Clinton lied to a Federal Grand Jury, which is an impeachable offense. So they impeached him... and the outcome was pretty much... yeah he lied, but so would have any other man in the same situation, and it had no effect on how he was doing his job. So they let him stay... but Bill Clinton, and his wife Hillary... are notorious, habitual, liars.

This is why all employers that matter, offer, or used to offer I should say, very good health insurance plans.

The ACA of course, ended that.

I would not count on employers to establish a national "minimum" though, because small businesses might not be able to afford to provide it for their employees, hence why you said "everyone that matters", but many people work for SMEs. Employers can still offer extra to attract talent.

Not debating for or against the ACA btw, just making an observation

This has been part of the problem. The government has set a national minimum, and now employers that could not afford to provide it, have cut their workforce to get under the minimum, or cut their employees hours to get under the minimum. This has kicked most people to the mercy of the exchanges. They once had the help of their employers to kick in and split the cost with them. Now they are having to pay for it all themselves, and it's costing more and more as the insurance companies lose their subsidies, and too many sick people are sucking on the system because it's not "insurance" anymore... it's mandated healthcare.

Could you clarify what you mean by "too many sick people sucking on the system?" Because that reads as though you think a private healthcare system can't deal with people being ill.

Yes of course. For the ACA to function as "insurance", there has to be a large percentage of healthy people that buy the policy for the purpose of protecting themselves against, or "insuring" themselves against, getting sick, or needing care. That's what "insurance" is. What we have now is just a way to pay for the medical treatment of all. Not enough people are paying for the phony "insurance" that they know will never be denied to them if they ever end up needing it.
