Ohio is sometimes a swing state I believe right Lys?

Described as a "swing state", "purple state", or a "bellwether"... many like to point out that no Republican has ever won the White House without carrying Ohio in the general... but then again those same people used to say that Missouri was never wrong, that they always went with the one that won the White House, but that was put to rest by Barack Obama. He won twice without the help of Missouri. So really, these assumptions are made to be broken.

Who would have believed that Illinois would elect a Republican to the Senate? Even though Kirk will lose this year by a large margin, he still won the seat 6 years ago. Same with Scott Brown in Massachusetts... a Republican taking the seat of a Kennedy? These are merely cases of circumstances. A bad candidate, or a wave movement, can change many things.

reminds me, hows the House/Senate going? Can it swing in one way or another or are the seats up for grab a nicely 50/50 split and firmly locked?

The Republicans hold the House, and are expected to easily continue holding it. The Senate is in big danger of flipping back to Democrats in the general. There are many that took seats during the Tea Party wave of 2010 that could easily flip back, but the most painful boil on my ass is definitely gone... the notorious, and criminal, Harry Reid.

So since last post Sanders has had two more wins. Now it's on to New York where if he wins or only loses by 1 or 2% basically a tie things can start to change. People always say the math of delegates is a problem but he only needs to win by like 56% in most of the states left. The big problem is the popular vote now and even if Sanders gets the delegates Clinton may still have a lead in popular vote which may force the superdelegates and the DNC to give the nomination to her.. I will still hope for a different outcome but we will see.

O Also Bernie to visit the Vatican days before the New York primary. This guy is getting some world recognition. This could swing some Catholics but not sure if it matter.

The super delegates are bought and paid for... but you can hope.

Sanders may not win the nomination in the end but the primaries are going to the states where he is polling very well. I believe that Sanders ideas and this movement he rallied up will continue even if he doesn't when and will be a reckoning the next election and so on. We may first see things done at local levels and we could probably see more grassroots politicians like him popping up everywhere on both sides. Really I wish that this election will be the end to the two party system and cause us to have 3 or 4 parties.

1. The Far Left aka The Progressives which would probably include the Green Party, Democratic Socialist, a few democrats and Liberals and some other left wing groups
2. Centralist Democrats or just a Centralist party in general made up of majority of democrats and a few moderate and Fiscal conservatives.
3. Conservatives- The hard core conservatives, made up of most of the Republican party
4. Libertarians or the Tea Party/ Trumps party, Now I can see this going either route as either the Hard core reactionary Conservative tea party splits off or they stay in with the Conservative party or the Libertarians split or both and we get 5 parties.

Either way I don't see our current parties staying the same and I see it's time to split up and either get rid of them (not likely) or have a multiple party system.

What do y'all think?

I think Trump is a million miles away from being a libertarian or tea party candidate.

I have been hammered with questions asking why I quit commenting on this thread. It's because Hillary Clinton won the nomination before this all began, and I found a wonderful piece that explains it perfectly. I hope you all understand.

It was a rigged game from the beginning. The establishment wanted Hillary and allowed 'token' candidates to participate (all of whom were a bunch of nobodies who never had a chance at the nomination). Sanders was the only candidate who chose not to give Hillary her easy victory and has accomplished quite a bit in his bid for the nomination.

This is one of my main dislikes of the Democrat party. They ignore who the people vote for and prop up who is good for the upkeep of the establishment. Enhancing big government, growing in power, making more money. Losing or conceding some of that power scares them, and if they have to cheat the system to stay in power, then they will do whatever is necessary for victory.

That air head Debbie Wasserman-Schultz orchestrated this entire nomination. The only people that were allowed to run were people designed to make Hillary Clinton look better. Look how smart she looks next to Lincoln Chafee... Look how Progressive she looks next to Jim Webb. Look how experienced she looks next to Martin O'Malley. Look how young and moderate she looks next to Bernie Sanders. It was her intention to run against straw men that would pose no threat, and I stress men because no other woman was allowed to run against her. The super-delegates have been bought and paid for for years. They're all criminals.

Blame Saturday Night Live for making Bernie much bigger than they ever thought a 74 year old Socialist could muster, but this just shines a spotlight on how awful Hillary Clinton is.
