About 3-4 weeks only. Purely by 'accident' - someone from my staff suggested it as a team building exercise. After that it stuck with me.

Nice. That's about how long I've been playing as well. What level are you?

Well I have heard that the game's story opens up more when you hit level 8, but that's all I've heard.

Other than that, I'm not sure what the "point" is other than getting out in the world and traveling to see cool things (all while playing a game).

Also, world domination.

It does open up a lot around lvl 8... But on the down side at level 8 you don't level up anymore by just collecting AP... You have to actually unlock those evil achievements

Now if I told you all the details what fun would leveling up be? ;)

It's actually sort of difficult to explain, but it just gives you a better understanding of the game and fun to look at... Honest suggestion would be if you want to get involved in the backstories watch the media that you can hack sometimes... Always interesting.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ahh, it's always fun to plan a nice little town excursion and finish with a bright field of green... Many, many layers over ;)

Think our overall gain from it was nearly 2k MUs

Now the sad part is in 3 days when it's getting demolished... So many resonators and shields will die :(

By the way as another tip I haven't yet seen... If attacking a portal with either Ultra Strike or XMP, if you hold the fire button you'll see an energy ring close in on your location... If you release the button while that ring is super close to you it will increase the damage/range of your attack, all the way up to 20%. This is a major advantage when attacking higher level portals, since we can easily burn XMPs galore on a shielded lvl 6 or 7 portal.

I just hit level 10... The part that gets semi-depressing is the  gear only runs up to lvl 8... But you will see as you lvl you get more abilities...

For example at some point you'll be able to fully mod a portal by yourself B)

I was wondering about that. I figured it was the case but wasn't sure at what point it would happen.

I'm just glad that I have access to my level 8 weapons now so that I can efficiently hunt down the two high leveled Enlightened scum in my area that I've been warring with for several weeks. :P

It is a little bit frustrating.

I've been hanging around the 2000 item limit for a couple weeks now as well so I have to keep recycling level 1-3 resonators, xmp bursters, and ultra strikes. I'm at a point now where I will have to start recycling even higher level items than those.

I burn them (XMPs) on attacking lower level portals, and you used to "AP cheat" by deploying your lowest lvl resonators and then upgrading them to gain more AP off deployments... Don't know if they changed that up or not, but basically used to burn stuff creatively rather than destroying/recycling. How many capsules do you have? I have a billion stuffed with low lvl gear, and even some with mid-lvl
