So, since apparently a valid vote is too joky, I'll just unvote to please you.

Okay good, the topic is not locked yet.

Last few hours have been frenzied, and there's been a shift toward Lego and away from Wolfpacks vs Rafay. Rafay still has not returned to defend himself, so for everyone who previously had been so adamant about him being a lurker the situation has not changed - but now we're seeing Lego as the next bandwagon target.

I don't have enough time before deadline to do a full analysis, but I can see where the suspicion of Lego comes from; as well as his reaction since the votes shifted to him. I'll also note that I think Lego only started posting again once votes turned his way... which is notable. He was not a 0-post during Day 2, so was not caught in the same filter used to select other inactives; but he was indeed laying low. Between Lego and Wolfpacks, both of their wagons are based on something more than just sheer inactivity... and whichever one it ends up as will give us information.

And it's funny, initially your reason to vote for me was a joke vote with the 'oh Samus survived N1' now suddenly that same vote's rationale was changed to be because I was 'inactive'. Inactive on the first day of D2.

The first couple weeks at Hogwarts were incredibly eventful. Unfortunately not everything was awesome. Harry and Ron already had 12" of parchment to write for Professor McGonagall on the lingering effects of rat transfiguration, an exam to prepare for in History of Magic (their most boring subject), and Harry had the distinct feeling that Professor Snape despised him. Snape frequently went out of his way to pick on Harry in Potions and took every opportunity to insult his work. On top of that Hermione was often insufferable and earlier that day Harry had been bombed with stink bombs by Peeves as he screamed out of a classroom wall and flew overhead.

 

One day after Defense Against the Dark Arts, Harry, Ron, and Seamus were walking together through the 2nd floor corridor doing their best Hermione impressions after a particularly annoying class where her hand never left the air. Not realizing that Hermione was walking behind them on the way to dinner, they heard her sniff and start to tear up as she stormed past them, and ran ahead of them turning into the girls bathroom at the end of the hall.

 

About 45 minutes later in the Great Hall the Gryffindor students were all chattering and comparing the amount of homework that they all had already. There was a loud crash at the back of the Great Hall as Professor Quirrell tore into the room sprinting down the aisle between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff House tables. 

 

"TROLL -- in the dungeons -- thought you ought to know."

 

Chaos erupted in the Great Hall as all of the students jumped out of their seats and started running toward the door. Several people bowled over Draco Malfoy who had just left the Slytherin table and knocked him to the ground where he lay motionless. "SILENCE!" Professor Dumbledore shouted as he gave instructions to the House Prefects to lead their houses back to their common rooms. As the room cleared, Madame Pomfrey, noticing Malfoy laying on the ground, hurried over and picked him up to carry him off to the Hospital Wing. 

 

Draco Malfoy (legoboyvdlp) a Mafia Goon has been knocked out on day 2.

The Gryffindor students followed Percy Weasley, the Gryffindor House Prefect, out of the Great Hall and up the stairs toward the 7th floor. As they approached the second floor, a certain realization occurred to Harry and Ron. "Hermione wasn't at dinner" Harry said to Ron. "She doesn't know about the troll!" The two of them slowly broke away from the pack of their fellow Gryffindors and ducked behind a suit of armor until they all had turned the corner down the hall. Harry and Ron jumped out from their hiding place and sprinted down the corridor in the opposite direction from the group. They were now only one hall away from the bathroom where they had seen Hermione run to earlier that evening. As they turned the last corner they saw it. The large shadow of the mountain troll came lumbering into view followed shortly by it's caster. The troll was heading straight into the girl's bathroom! "We have to save Hermione." Harry whispered.

As they reached the bathroom door, a terrified scream pierced the silence. Harry and Ron burst into the girl's bathroom and saw the troll standing over a terrified Hermione. Harry and Ron weren't sure what to do so they started picking up debris from a stall door that the troll had clearly crushed with it's club and threw it at the troll. Ron drilled the troll in the side of the head with a piece of wood and it turned in their direction. Harry ran toward the troll with his wand drawn but had to dive sideways to avoid the crushing blow of the troll's club. Ron stepped forward and drew his wand. With a swish and flick of the wand he shouted "Wingardium Leviosa" and the club flew out of the troll's hand and hovered over it's head. With a second flick of his wand the club crashed down and cracked the troll on the head, knocking it out cold. It fell to the floor with a giant bang.

A moment later the bathroom door opened and Professor McGonagall rushed in followed by Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell. "Explain yourselves immediately!" Professor McGonagall shouted. Harry and Ron looked at one another. Before either of them could speak however, Hermione spoke up. "It's all my fault Professor," Hermione said looking at the ground. "I've read all about trolls and thought I could handle it. I was wrong. If Harry and Ron hadn't showed up, I'd probably be dead." Professor McGonagall considered Hermione for a moment. "I must stress how serious your actions were Miss Granger. 5 points will be taken from Gryiffindor." She turned to Harry and Ron. "As for you two, 5 points.. will be awarded to Gryffindor for each of you, for shear dumb-luck! I want all three of you to hurry off to Gryffindor tower immediately."

Harry, Ron, and Hermione hurried through the castle and up to the 7th floor. "Caput Draconis" they uttered to the Fat Lady. As they climbed through the portrait hole and into the Common Room, George hurried over to them looking worried. "Don't worry" Ron said. "We're alr-", George cut him off. "Did you see Fred?" He asked. "No" Ron replied. "Fred never made it back to the Common Room."

Fred Weasley (Rhizoctonia) a normal Gryffindor student has gone missing on night 2.

It is now day 3. Day three will last until 12:00pm CST on Monday, July 11th.

Well this certainly shakes things up - my last post got cut off by when TW locked the thread before posting his answer, but with Lego having proven scum that will now give us some more to look at.

I am curious why Rhizo was chosen, though... and it says just 'A Gryffindor Student' - when Chaplain/Hagrid was lynched it said 'A normal hogwarts staff member'. Is the lack of "Normal" important, or a mistake on TW's part?

I'm still busy today, but initial thoughts:

At the end it was Wolfpacks vs Lego on votes, but Wolfpacks made a very big deal of not moving his vote onto Lego. When I get more time either tonight or tomorrow I'll read back and see how the wagons shifted, but those past 24 hours were hectic... I'm just glad we didn't default to an inactive.

One final datapoint: Since I was trying to post when the thread locked, I also got to see who was watching the thread when it ended. While I was reading/posting and after the thread locked, I saw the following names: TheWarrior, Preston, Lyner, KevinH, Lego, Samus, Wolfpacks, Rhizoctonia, Ali Bin Turban

Is there any special meaning to who was on when night fell? I happened to be on, too, but it seems the board didn't recognize me. If Lego was on and was scum, does that tend to mean that scum is usually on at the moment of nightfall? When I was scum I seldom was on at nightfall, except when I was lynched. Perhaps all the people on when night fell were townies, except for Lego?

Seems less likely given that it was a close vote. Also, I notice some scum start getting a little pissed off when about to be lynched, like they're super nice, or at least very polite until the knot gets tied, and the BAMMO, they get a little hostile. I suppose town does too, but it seems more common with scum. Am I right?

If you remember I was close to being lynched so it kinda stands to reason I'll be on at the end just in case, as for the others

Lego: probably the same reason as me
Ali, Rhizo,shamus and Preston had voted for either one of us and my guess wanted to see if their vote had turned up a scum,
KevinH: was watching to see if our famous lurcher had put in a appearance

Are you back now because you got close to being lynched last time, this could be a scum trying to save himself with some activity or townie trying to save the town. I still think the odds are slim for Rafay being scum so for now I go for the latter.
