The last 2 times repugnants controlled the US Government in its entirety, there was a Major Depression/Recession, Stock Markets crashed, There was massive unemployment. 

 

I 100% expect it to happen again.

 

Also, in the last 5 presidential election cycles, the Democrat received more votes than the Republican 4 times.  Yet the Republican was elected twice, against the will of the people. 

 

In 2012 and 2014, Democratic House of Representatives candidates received more votes than their Republican counterparts.  Yet, due to extreme Republican gerrymandering, the Republicans control the house.

 

The Republicans scream voter fraud, yet they have manipulated the system through their chicanery to deny the will of the people.

 

So you keep on keeping on with your so called mandate.   I'll be buying weapons, ready to defend MY country against the Alt-Right.

Well there is a difference, gerrymandering is legal unless it is struck down in court. While voter fraud isn't legal. I don't like gerrymandering as much as the next guy, but until Congress passes a bill ending it, we are stuck with it.

I always chuckle when people say they are buying a bunch of weapons in case they have to fight a war. Throwing money at something isn't going to do any good, that is why Democrats lost the election You want to be able to protect yourself, family, and your country? Then you better invest not only in multiple firearms in an assortment of different calibers but heavily in firearms training, begin stockpiling ammunition, and acquire a large enough safe to securely store all of it. If you really are serious about it, be prepared to spend not only thousands of $ but also a lot of time + energy.

 

Now onto the logistical stuff. If its a 'war' don't expect to be able to run to the grocery store for food or Walmart for supplies. Shelves will be empty by then. So for your stockpile you will need a fresh water supply, food that will last for more than several months, medicine stockpile if you take any prescriptions, and buy up lots of good quality survival books so you can read them and practice those methods. Didn't consider this stuff? Well you said you wanted to prepare to fight, and this stuff is needed to keep you in the game.

 

I'm not trying to start an argument here, so I do apologize if any of this came off as rude. I'm trying to get you to see there is a lot more to being prepared than just buying weapons. A lot of people have naive expectations about this and their dream of running into the woods Red Dawn style quickly falls apart. They think buying an AR-15 with 100 rounds of ammo and throwing it into their closet never to be touched (except maybe once a year), constitutes being prepared. Its still better than nothing, but you have barely even scraped the surface.

 

I get the fact you don't like right wing people, and it wouldn't surprise me if you consider me a right wing extremist gun nut. But if you are serious about wanting to learn to protect yourself and prepare for undesirable circumstances, I would be willing to help get you started on a good path. I don't care what your political affiliation/background is, but I believe everyone has a right to protect themself. More than once I have helped people on the other side of the political aisle learn to protect themself and offer advice in terms of what direction they should take in doing so. So if you are interested, send me a PM and I can help show you what is good/what to avoid and help you outline your goals in terms of short term/long term.

Don't be shocked, but I agree with a lot of what that guy says.

 

Hillary Clinton lost because she was the worst candidate to ever run for President. They thought they could win if they could make the other guy appear to be worse than her. It was all orchestrated. The Democrats that were allowed to run against her, were hand picked to make her look younger, smarter, and more Progressive. They had debates no one would watch. They knew the more people see Hillary... the less they like her. They didn't count on the older Socialist gaining any popularity, and exposing her weakness... her weakness is she's a criminal, and no one likes her. When Bernie became a problem, they began to rig the debates, rig the polls, spotlight Super-Delegate support, and blanket the media with an overwhelming feeling that Bernie becoming the nominee... was hopeless. It worked against Bernie Sanders... it didn't work against Donald Trump.

 

I don't believe in big government, I don't believe in open borders, I don't believe in global harmony, and I don't believe that throwing truckloads of other people's money at a problem fixes anything... it only breeds more corruption. These are the things I don't agree with this guy about.

Recession comes in cycles. We are due again for another recession... too bad Obama didn't allow us to have a recovery before the next one hits. So saying that you're 100% sure that it will happen again is like saying you're 100% sure the sun will rise again tomorrow. The Stock Market is people that have money, making more money. It's so high right now because the rate of cash is so low. As soon as the Fed raises the rate of money... and they have to do that... the Stock Market will go down.

 

Come on Buddy... not you too. You know as well as I do that the popular vote has never elected a US President. California is not allowed, by law, to select our President. We have 50 States, and every one of them has a voice. We are a Republic... not a Democracy. If you don't like how we elect our Presidents... get your friends together and change the Constitution. It's easy... it takes two thirds of the House and Senate, and then ratification by 38 States. I for one, would love to put an end to all this crying.

I would wager a years income that when all the illegal votes are deducted from the popular vote totals... Hillary Clinton did not legally get more votes than Donald Trump. But since that would cost too much, and not change the outcome, it would never take place. I believe a retinal scan at the time of registration and voting would do the trick. Early voting just gives Democrats more time, and several more ways, to cheat. Why on earth do you guys not want to protect the integrity of our elections? I already know, I'm just picking on you.

I was sincerely wondering when people who agree with Don think America was great and when they think it stopped being great. I haven't seen too many answers to that question here.

I think America was great when Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. I think we have had many truly shameful moments, like the way we have treated minorities, especially Native Americans and people of African heritage. There have been many other horrible nactions and policies, but as long as the constitution stands and the people have had the right to call our Predident names, to burn flags, to worship or forgo worship as they please, America is great. And so, despite my many criticisms, I wholeheartedly believe America has remained great in more ways than not.

I desperately want Don to succeed as POTUS, in the same way I want my airplane pilot to succeed when I travel by air. I don't have to like my president, but if he fails, my country suffers. I am deeply worried by his complete lack of preparedness, but I am encouraged by his back peddling on campaign promises which would have been criminal if he followed through with them. I think Obama made America greater than it was under a Bush, and I hope America becomes even greater now.

The super rich are getting richer. The poorer have Obamacare and $15/hr wages. The working poor like me and most of middle America feel they aren't heard, cannot get ahead at all, and are losing ground, no matter how hard we work - and we do work hard.

 

A country is only as healthy as its middle class and ours is fading fast. So making America "great", means if you work hard and do not want to be a syphon on the government dole, you should be able to hold a job, pay your taxes, and provide for your family. But alas, the middle class cannot do this.

And that is why our country is not as "great" as it used to be.

Make America Great Again was a campaign slogan. It's been used before, but not as widely printed as it was this time. It was used by Ronald Reagan and ironically, Bill Clinton. It has probably been used by others that I don't know about. The meaning of MAGA is intended to be personal. It's whatever his supporters wanted it to be.

 

To me, America was great when we were feared. When we were proud, wealthy, self sustaining, self motivated, and safe. There was a time when people wanted to be Americans... they didn't come here illegally and wave other flags around. Americans don't disparage their own history, they don't hate each other, and we certainly don't destroy our own cities. I believe a good indicator when America is great again is when maybe 60% believe we are on the right track... yeah, that would be great again. There is no chance of that as long as being a Christian disqualifies you from being a leader.

For the record, I don't believe in open borders (no surprise there), and I don't think the guy does either. Liberalism doesn't necessarily mean that everyone is welcome to come and go as they please. If we lived in a perfect world, it would be doable, but reality is different.

On another note I watched the final episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. It was his reaction to the Trump victory. It was one giant raging rant, he wasn't even trying to be funny anymore. Fucking pathetic. If any of you progressives still wonder why you lost the elections, go watch it.

I think you are picking up on my anger at you for the way you talk to people on this board, including myself.  I find you to be frequently insulting, dismissive, condescending, with a double standard towards those with whom you disagree.  It makes it hard for me to read your posts because I feel like defending whomever you have just put down more than really paying any attention to the points you are trying to make, and that is a pity because you probably are very intelligent. 

 

I really enjoy talking to people with opinions different from mine.  I have friends and family who are arch conservatives.  But when I feel like there are unwarranted personal attacks taking place it gets my ire up.  I have responded to you very harshly (for me, anyway) and I dislike doing that to anyone, I much prefer empowering people.  I am saddened that you think I hate you, I would like to like you, but your style does not sit well with me.

No... you misunderstood my post. A SCOTUS appointment is for life, and you can't run for President. Attorney General is a position that would help him if he wanted to run again.

 

In 2012, there was a debate between Obama and Romney. Romney said Russia was the biggest threat to world peace... Obama laughed at him and said "The 80's called, and they want their foreign policy back". I was waiting for Trump to say that to Hillary... that would have been epic. We need to worry about Russian bullets and bombs... never be afraid of the truth. If Russia exposed the lies of the DNC and Hillary Clinton, they have my thanks. The USA can do more good for our country if we have less enemies.

 

Trump never requested classified clearance for his kids... that's a myth. He's turning over all Trump business to his adult children. Plus, it doesn't matter anyway... JFK made his brother Attorney General and he had top secret clearance, being a family member does not exclude you from being an adviser.

Hillary was for reighning in Russia expanding their sphere of influence (something USA has done for decades, also after the Cld War ended), it was never about going to war with Russia, never really understood where that idea came from tbh. Trump throwing around industrial glasmaking aperatures wouldn't tick some off you think?

 

Well the nepotism runs deeply if you take ALL your family into power. Throwing some family members with known trackrecords into positions for which there resumé is suited, all fine to me.
