Well, Alberta just declared a Public Health Emergency, 97 cases.  All public gatherings of over 50 people are banned, public spaces are closed.  The West Edmonton Mall is shutting its  doors tomorrow.

We were stood down yesterday in the name of operational readiness, so I have a 14 day paid vacation, with a possible extension.  I'm still on call, in case we are needed.

I went to Darcy's Meats yesterday to get my Variety Box.  I do that every three months.  $240.00 for 50 pounds of meat, bloody good deal.  They were cleared out of pork roasts, beef roasts, pork chops, and chicken breast.  Still got my box, just a bunch more steak, ground beef, and whole chickens.

I had a few errands to run today.  Its madness out there.

I was at the pharmacy to get a tax receipt for my husbands meds.  When the pharmacist saw me use my bottle of Purell, he said (jokingly, I hope), "Be careful, you might get tackled for that."

I ended up at the grocery store, nothing left.  No bread, no meat, no rice, no canned fruits/vegetables, no pasta, no frozen foods, no toilet paper, paper towels, cleaners.

I took the last box of rice that I could find, when a family came up and started to panic because there was no rice left.  I just handed it to them.

I think North and South America is only on the leading edge of this.  Its going to get worst.

Las Vegas, and the entire state of Nevada, is now under a 30 day complete shutdown. Highly inconvenient. We don't have a lot of cases here, so I'm pretty sure it's to keep everyone else from bringing it here. My wife works for Outback Steakhouse, so she is virtually out of work for the first time in her life. I work at home, so I'm still in business... at least for now. I have never seen anything like this. Good luck to everyone. We will get through it.

Yeah. My wife and I are lucky to enjoy a fairly comfortable economic situation, and so far, we're not AS impacted as some other sectors. However as the entire economy freezes, things might change, and I hope it won't come to that.

Hang in there guys!

No curfew, atleast not in name. Yes to quarantine. Here is to hoping it can halt the current increasing daily deathrate in the coming 2 weeks.

First off, I'm taking off the mask.

My name is Mike.

Edmonton went into lock down a few hours ago. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/edmonton-mayor-declares-state-of-local-emergency-1.5504990

At least all systems are go for Monday, when we have to meet with the lawyer for the conveyance.  For now anyway.

I've been stuck in the house since Monday.  Tired of shooting Nazi Zombies in the head.  Painted all my Robotech miniatures.  Played the s**t out of Star Trek Online.  Well, lets just say there's only so much intimacy one man can handle.

I'm wondering how many babies are going to be born nine months from now? ;)

Tonight was the first time I've been out of the house since Monday.  Went to the Beer Store.  I got talking with the young lady who works there, she's from Newfoundland like me.  They are shutting down on Monday.

I'm on some pretty tight restrictions.  Not allowed to travel more than 150 km from home.  Not allowed on public transit, including Uber and Lyft.  Have to check in with my Sgt every 24 hours, giving my status and readiness level.

In all seriousness.  We'll pull through this.  Both myself and Ed (my husband), are wishing each and everyone of you, and your families all the best.  We hope that you and your families and friends are doing well.

I played Star Trek Online for it's first several months back in 2010... it got very boring and it was real glitchy. Did it get better?

Played over 200 hours since its good. Havent played it in a couple of years but the expansions make it better.

So nz has grown to over 50 cases and developed a alert system and seeing as i live in the most region with the most population i am seriously hoping gamestop pay us our bonus next pay so i can do something while we probably on lockdown. Kinda annoyed as coronavirus is goimg to screw up my first holiday in 4 years

I would think so Lys.  I've played off and on since 2012.  Lot's  more options as playable races.  Plenty of things to do.  Only thing I don't like is the inclusion of that awful Star Trek: Discovery.

Hope you and yours are doing well.

I’m working from home, about the same amount as before. We usually have various meetings once or twice a week, which we have cancelled at first, but now we’re slowly moving them online to MS Teams.

I’m fairly well supplied with a backlog of games, I’ve played:

- Yes, Your Grace (narrative indie game)
- A Plague Tale: Innocence (vary topical, lol)
And of course

- DOOM ETERNAL WHICH IS AMAZING

So my city has started voluntary quarantine for all residents and my company has also initiated work from home. "Official" corona virus count in my country is only 24 so far but noone believes it. Probably 10 times more if not higher. So been home for last 3 days. Not sure how long this will last although officially its only supposed to be until end of March. Highly doubtful. Schools all closed down as well so getting to spend some quality time with my children... Probably the only good thing to come out of this.

Shit's getting warm here.

I suspect you're right Imran. It's demonstrating exponential growth, so the number will be about 4x higher than the confirmed cases as an absolute minimum.

A little perspective. As I said, I'm not terribly worried about the virus itself, but rather the devastating effects all the safety have on the economy

I've seen people younger and fitter than me experiencing significant pulmonary haemorrhage and myocarditis from this. There's a good chance neither will come of the ventilator. They are both young than you are too. This virus is going to give them a miserable death.

I am also well aware my own personal risk is likely higher due to working in a high risk area and disease severity correlating with initial viral load.

Well, I am not trying to trivialize the disease, and yes, it CAN be dangerous. But then you have to wonder whether sending the world economy into lockdown, with potentially hundreds of millions of people losing their jobs worldwide and a tsunami of bankruptcy of entire economic sectors is worth it. The problem with flattening the curve is that you have to enforce the emergency measures for a long, long, LONG time, and once you uplift them, the disease might just return like you hadn't even done anything. If we're just delaying the inevitable, then why do it?

I have to agree with CC. Over ambitious media and bloviating politicians have pressured big government into making extremely reckless decisions that, in my opinion, will do much more damage to everyone on the planet, and force this virus to take much longer to run it's course than if they just informed people, and developed a reasonable way to treat it. What they have done is way over the line, and it's gonna drag on for months. Hell... this could very well start a war with China. That is something I do not want.

The Media tries to take anything out of proportion. thats how it works, they get more clicks, you get scared, and you wanna learn more about what is making you scared. as a result, you go back to the media, give it another click, and get even more terrified, repeat.

A country is like an ant. too small to do anything on its own, yet oh so very helpful in a team. every member of a colony does its part, just like how every country in IRON does their part, no matter how big, or small, its goal to help propel IRON forward, as a team, into the biggest alliance planet bob has ever seen. thats my goal, to help iron advance, and while i may be just an ant, every country has to start somewhere.

Long Live IRON!

Long Live The Republic!
