The IRON Speed Game

Just a sleepy, perfectly normal morning in MoleVille. Wait. No, that's not right. What?

You crowd into the village square and find the mayor shot dead! Whispers say the mafia are invading. Time to get lynching!

This is a C9 game. The role setup is ONE of the following:

1) 2 Scum, 1 Doc, 4 Townies

2) 2 Scum, 1 Cop, 4 Townies

3) 2 Scum, 5 Townies

EXAMPLE ROLE PMS:

Being a member of the Mafia is cool. And one day, you fancy taking over this small village, y'know? Should be fun.

- You are a MAFIA GOON.

- Your partner is SCUM .

- You may talk privately during the night phases only.

- Once per night, SCUM1 sends in the name of one person to kill. If he dies, SCUM2 takes over.

- You win when you outnumber the town.

You wake up one morning - damn! Someone's dead! Seems the mafia want to take over. Time to brush the dust off the gallows and go scumhunting!

- You are a VANILLA TOWNIE.

- You win when all anti-town factions have been eliminated.

You wake up one morning - damn! Someone's dead! Time to put your years of experience of being a cop (Which was definitely NOT spent drinking coffee in your car) to good use, and find some scum!

- You are a COP.

- Once per night, you may message me with the name of someone you want to investigate. You will discover their alignment.

- You win when all anti-town factions have been eliminated.

You wake up one morning - damn! Someone's dead! Luckily, you're an ER doc at the local hospital - you figure you can save some innocent people from this mafia invasion.

- You are a DOC.

- Once per night, you may message me with the name of someone you want to protect. That person cannot be killed that night.

- You cannot protect yourself.

- You win when all anti-town factions have been eliminated.

Oranges has been prodded.

/me is not happy.

/me was thinking the same thing as vgm and Falzis, but was waiting until tomorrow to say it.

/me was hoping to catch scum.

sorry guys, can;t come on here in work and didn't have internet last night, back now though. There's a lot of (fairly) aimless finger pointing, a lot of people trying to pick up on the slightest of things. a lot i disagree with. I wonder about Narsis' comment about closed door talking though. If i had typed that as a townie then I'd be very worried about how it would come off in the eyes of others, now either Narsis typed it without thinking back on it or he typed it thinking it would lead people to believe that since he said that he can't be scum.

I just don't think any townie would post that for fear of it being taken the wrong way, while a scum may post it as a double bluff.

FOS: Narsis

actually Oranges, i'm learning! i knew how it would have been viewed, but i said it anyway. why exactly...i don't really know, but i did.

what's FOS? and EBWOP? hahaha sorry.

it might be a freudian slip on the part of Narsis.

FoS = Finger of Suspicion (you suspect the person but not enough to vote basically)

EBWOP = Edit by way of post

@Narsis - In all honesty, I'm not sure if using the "nail in the coffin" vote would have worked to well as a trap. I say that for this reason. Going by experience levels, the best people to use that on would have been Narsis / Falzis who were already voting for Kevin and possibly Nerau (although it's been a while since I've played, but don't recall seeing him much in the past).

The others, oranges (a vet), Kevin (a vet + why would he vote himself), and Canucks (also already voting for him) probably wouldn't have bitten the bait.

Just my own opinion on it, but trying to use that wouldn't work all that well I don't think. Plus, with it being such a small game, we can't necessarily use tactics which could come back and bite us in the ass. We have to think stuff through a little bit harder.

who said the "nail in the coffin" was the only thing i was looking at/for?

Right now...KevinH and Narsis are both acting a bit off from what I've seen in past games. It's only Day 1 with very little posting going on so it's a bit hard to determine who's scum. In any case, we need a Day 1 lynch and I would prefer it to be a 2 horse race instead of just 1. Those who don't vote aren't helping.

That being said...I'm keeping my vote on KevinH.

maybe it's because i'm trying to play better. it's all about improvement...

Nerau has requested replacement, and will shortly be replaced by Electric Mango (Provided he's still up for it).

I would say that people voting just for the sake of it will also hurt the game, not saying thats what you're doing but just because I don't think anyone warrants a vote yet doesn't mean I'm not helping.

Narsis, you can say you're learning but that means nothing to me, playing a beginner is as good a strategy as any, i could join any mafia site out there now and claim i'm a beginner, doesn't make it true but i'd still do it. You say you knew it would be taken badly, yet you still did it? That does not allay my worries at all, in fact it seems a very weak excuse. If you know that something you're ging to say seems scummy then why say it? Again the only reason I can see is the double bluff...

I will probably be voting tomorrow, be it for a person or a no lynvh vote. At the moment my vote will probably go on you Narsis, I hope you can dissuade me before then

i've got nothing more to explain why i said it. there is no reason that could satisfy you for my saying it and it would be a lie anyway since i've already given the truth.

but i shall do my best:

that post was after i realized that there may have been a way to catch scum. part of me wanted to point it out directly, but i knew that would destroy the purpose of it anyway. being the somewhat cryptic mind mine is from time to time, i posted a few things that would hint at my knowing, or thinking something, but not directly saying it.

it's kinda like if you have a scum as a suspect, but not enough to prove it to the town, odds are you are going to drop hints of some kind to try to get other townies to watch them while trying to not tip the scum off. the same goes for a cop with a guilty that doesn't want to claim outright.

Nerau has requested replacement, and will shortly be replaced by Electric Mango (Provided he's still up for it).

The question should be, is this game ready for Electric Mango ><

I look forward to bringing myself up to "speed" and contributing soon.

How am I different?

I explained why I'm voting for a lynch on day 1.

I maintain that it's all pretty much arbitrary.

Is this a request for poetry?

Maybe, maybe not

To lynch or not to lynch

That is the task at hand

Kill not townie but scum

So I've just quickly read through all the posts and will now give my thoughts on everyone so far.

1. CanucksDynasty - Nothing too earth shattering coming from CD so far. It seems that CD usually posts more often so I'm a little suspicious of that.

2. Narsis - Seems like Narsis has drummed up some drama already. When I read his posts nothing really pinged on my scumdar but it seems like it did on a lot of other peoples. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think he said anything scummy. I think people are looking for a reason to find scummy things in people and on Day 1 there's not a lot to go off of. I can see why people are doing it but I don't agree.

3. Nerau/Mango - \,,/

4. vgmmaster - Don't really have any thoughts on her so far. I know she likes to put pressure on people by voting and she seems to be playing according to her normal style.

5. Falzis - Seems to be learning the ropes and playing well. I'm getting a pretty good vibe from him.

6. Oranges - Not afraid to speak his opinion regarding the random voting. That makes me like him more. I don't agree with his opinion however, but I respect him for actually having one and stating it in no uncertain terms. Scum do not like to stand out so he gets a couple townie points.

7. KevinH - Under pressure early but is it warranted? On one hand he comes out and votes day 1 which we all wanted him to do but then he ends up getting 3 votes placed on him. Maybe KevinH should have resorted to poetry and the I told you so posts and he would have avoided suspicion. But then I have this other part of me that says he's playing different because he's not a vanilla townie. Does that mean he's scum or is he a doc/cop?

Also I would think that in a game this small the pro-town power role is probably a doc. I think the cop would have too much power with the amount of people we have.

These are all based off of a quick read. I promise to go back and re-read them all again to see if I missed anything.

I would say that people voting just for the sake of it will also hurt the game, not saying thats what you're doing but just because I don't think anyone warrants a vote yet doesn't mean I'm not helping.

I guess that just means we have different philosophies.

Yes you explained why you voted for a lynch on day 1. However, it all the past games...you advocated for a no lynch. In those games...you never mentioned that you were afraid of lynching a cop or doc...just townie. And you never suggested that you were playing following the cop. So it begs the question...why is this game any different?

I've not had to prod ANYONE. I like it.

Let's keep the activity at this level or better, kthx.

Yes...normally I do post more. However, I'm having connection problems with the new forums. Every so often I get this blank white page with 403 on the top left corner. And I have to re-login and re-type, etc. Sometimes I get too frustrated and don't bother posting. I never had this problem in the old forums. Stupid firewall.

I've not had to prod ANYONE. I like it.

The "Well, not much has changed" Vote Count:

KevinH - 3 (CanucksDynasty, Narsis, Falzis) (L-1)

Falzis - 2 (EM, KevinH)

Not Voting - 2 (Oranges, Narsis)

Some minor mistakes...

1. Narsis unvoted in pg 3.

2. You have 2 x Narsis.

3. Vgm voted for Narsis on pg 3.

I think it probably should read...

KevinH - 2 (CanucksDynasty, Falzis)

Falzis - 2 (EM, KevinH)

Narsis - 1 (vgm)

Not Voting - 2 (Oranges, Narsis)

And there I was thinking doing it manually would make it more accurate.

Cheers. I'll try it again and see if I get the same result.

I've deleted your double post.

The "Hey, it should be right this time" Vote Count:

KevinH - 2 (CanucksDynasty, Falzis)

Falzis - 2 (Electric Mango, KevinH)

Narsis - 1 (vgmmaster)

Not Voting - 2 (Oranges, Narsis)

Since I've already been on record saying that I'm getting a good vibe from Falzis it seems foolish to keep my vote on him. I don't have a strong scum vibe from anyone but I believe a vote on someone can do more good than a vote on no one. KevinH is the first one that comes to mind but I don't want to put him at L-1. CD's claims makes sense so I'll give him a pass. Even though Narsis did not set up my scumdar he did raise some eyebrows with other players. Sometimes you have to trust the others you play with and keeping two people tied with two votes will be more beneficial than having just one. For these reasons:

Unvote: Falzis

Vote: Narsis

Man all Kevin ever talks about is accidentally lynching a cop. He's berated every game for wanting to play follow the cop (and its a rightful berating imo) but his logic behind his change in stance is perfectly in keeping with his usual stances.

Now onto the matter at hand, no word from Narsis and the time is ticking down, its time to put something out there, I still think Narsis is the most suspicious and since we have less chance of any cop then a no lynch isn't much help only dragging the game out as we get eliminated one by one, Narsis your comment of talking outside the game still sticks with me and for that reason I put you at L-1.
