sorry guys, can;t come on here in work and didn't have internet last night, back now though. There's a lot of (fairly) aimless finger pointing, a lot of people trying to pick up on the slightest of things. a lot i disagree with. I wonder about Narsis' comment about closed door talking though. If i had typed that as a townie then I'd be very worried about how it would come off in the eyes of others, now either Narsis typed it without thinking back on it or he typed it thinking it would lead people to believe that since he said that he can't be scum.

 

I just don't think any townie would post that for fear of it being taken the wrong way, while a scum may post it as a double bluff.

@Narsis - In all honesty, I'm not sure if using the "nail in the coffin" vote would have worked to well as a trap. I say that for this reason. Going by experience levels, the best people to use that on would have been Narsis / Falzis who were already voting for Kevin and possibly Nerau (although it's been a while since I've played, but don't recall seeing him much in the past).

 

The others, oranges (a vet), Kevin (a vet + why would he vote himself), and Canucks (also already voting for him) probably wouldn't have bitten the bait.

 

Just my own opinion on it, but trying to use that wouldn't work all that well I don't think. Plus, with it being such a small game, we can't necessarily use tactics which could come back and bite us in the ass. We have to think stuff through a little bit harder.

I would say that people voting just for the sake of it will also hurt the game, not saying thats what you're doing but just because I don't think anyone warrants a vote yet doesn't mean I'm not helping.

 

Narsis, you can say you're learning but that means nothing to me, playing a beginner is as good a strategy as any, i could join any mafia site out there now and claim i'm a beginner, doesn't make it true but i'd still do it. You say you knew it would be taken badly, yet you still did it? That does not allay my worries at all, in fact it seems a very weak excuse. If you know that something you're ging to say seems scummy then why say it? Again the only reason I can see is the double bluff...

 

I will probably be voting tomorrow, be it for a person or a no lynvh vote. At the moment my vote will probably go on you Narsis, I hope you can dissuade me before then

i've got nothing more to explain why i said it. there is no reason that could satisfy you for my saying it and it would be a lie anyway since i've already given the truth.

that post was after i realized that there may have been a way to catch scum. part of me wanted to point it out directly, but i knew that would destroy the purpose of it anyway. being the somewhat cryptic mind mine is from time to time, i posted a few things that would hint at my knowing, or thinking something, but not directly saying it.

 

it's kinda like if you have a scum as a suspect, but not enough to prove it to the town, odds are you are going to drop hints of some kind to try to get other townies to watch them while trying to not tip the scum off. the same goes for a cop with a guilty that doesn't want to claim outright.

So I've just quickly read through all the posts and will now give my thoughts on everyone so far.

 

1. CanucksDynasty - Nothing too earth shattering coming from CD so far. It seems that CD usually posts more often so I'm a little suspicious of that.

 

2. Narsis - Seems like Narsis has drummed up some drama already. When I read his posts nothing really pinged on my scumdar but it seems like it did on a lot of other peoples. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think he said anything scummy. I think people are looking for a reason to find scummy things in people and on Day 1 there's not a lot to go off of. I can see why people are doing it but I don't agree.

 

3. Nerau/Mango - \,,/

 

4. vgmmaster - Don't really have any thoughts on her so far. I know she likes to put pressure on people by voting and she seems to be playing according to her normal style.

 

5. Falzis - Seems to be learning the ropes and playing well. I'm getting a pretty good vibe from him.

 

6. Oranges - Not afraid to speak his opinion regarding the random voting. That makes me like him more. I don't agree with his opinion however, but I respect him for actually having one and stating it in no uncertain terms. Scum do not like to stand out so he gets a couple townie points.

 

7. KevinH - Under pressure early but is it warranted? On one hand he comes out and votes day 1 which we all wanted him to do but then he ends up getting 3 votes placed on him. Maybe KevinH should have resorted to poetry and the I told you so posts and he would have avoided suspicion. But then I have this other part of me that says he's playing different because he's not a vanilla townie. Does that mean he's scum or is he a doc/cop?

 

 

Also I would think that in a game this small the pro-town power role is probably a doc. I think the cop would have too much power with the amount of people we have.

Yes you explained why you voted for a lynch on day 1. However, it all the past games...you advocated for a no lynch. In those games...you never mentioned that you were afraid of lynching a cop or doc...just townie. And you never suggested that you were playing following the cop. So it begs the question...why is this game any different?

Yes...normally I do post more. However, I'm having connection problems with the new forums. Every so often I get this blank white page with 403 on the top left corner. And I have to re-login and re-type, etc. Sometimes I get too frustrated and don't bother posting. I never had this problem in the old forums. Stupid firewall.

Since I've already been on record saying that I'm getting a good vibe from Falzis it seems foolish to keep my vote on him. I don't have a strong scum vibe from anyone but I believe a vote on someone can do more good than a vote on no one. KevinH is the first one that comes to mind but I don't want to put him at L-1. CD's claims makes sense so I'll give him a pass. Even though Narsis did not set up my scumdar he did raise some eyebrows with other players. Sometimes you have to trust the others you play with and keeping two people tied with two votes will be more beneficial than having just one. For these reasons:
