  2. Being an American and a member of the United States Army I can't begin to tell you how ignorant the first statement in your reply is. Your stereotype of America is very insulting and far from an even slightly educated guess. First off this isn't the first time posturing such as this has occurred and in the past the US solved things diplomatically by appeasing NK through various aid only for the same things to happen time and time again. You are also stating things as if this entire conflict stems for the US when it was joint UN sanctions stemming from the support of numerous world leaders that turned NK so volatile. I can tell you that no one I know in any branches of the Armed Forces desire a conflict with NK, nor any of the American citizens I run into daily wish for more war. I have friends station in korea and would hate to see them die. That being said, us soldiers will step in and risk our lives to protect innocent civilians from the dangers of war and aggression because that is our duty and what we have sworn to do. We don't want war, we don't want to kill, but we will protect those that are trying to live peaceful lives, and we will not stand by and let our family and friends be threatened with nuclear war. If our desire to live and protect people from the ravages of war and aggression is seen as us being war crazed then so be it but we will continue to fight and protect ourselves and our allies because that is who we are and what we care about. -Simple message from your average "war crazed" American Spoilered for sanity's sake: Of 237 years of existence the USA has been at war (Or occupying some other country/running a proxy war/playing nuclear chicken) for 216 of them or about 91% of it's existence, the longest stretch of peace was all of 6 years during the depression and you haven't had a non war president since... ever. To claim that the US is a peaceful country is freaking insane, and well some of those wars were certainly justified or outright unavoidable, a lot of them were outright imperialism, escalated far past their original intent, the result of largely manufactured threats or would be better classified as attempted genocide. Yes the average soldier will be disinclined towards war for rather obvious reasons, if congress declared war you'd still go and fight it, and it would hardly be the first time they declared an unpopular war. Or one that turned so rather quickly for that matter The fact the US is unlikely to go to war with NK has little to do with an unwillingness to use military force and everything to do with the fact A: China will step in should you do so and B: Having enough military force in the region to stop NK form ruining South Korea's day would make China twitchy. If China ever goes "Fuck this shit, you're on your own." chances are good there'd be a US led NATO or UN force over there before very long.
  3. Replying works too..oicHow many posts do you think we'll get up to before this breaks and the forum and server and the world ends?My guess is 10!I'd say a solid, rounded 32 is the number of posts we will reach before it implodes on us.http://i48.tinypic.com/2yuajpe.jpgQFTthis looks awesome, I'm in!And the young tree grew stronger.yay quote pyramidsEscalationbetter than them Egyptian pyramids imohttp://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/24741359.jpgStay classy, San Diego.forums still working?I'm Ron Burgundy?I love lamp! Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina. Doesn't it mean Saint Diego? If you want to be a bit facetious it's Spanish for Sanctus Didacus
  4. Can't speak for anyone else, but I live just a wee bit too far north of Florida to take part
  5. might want to rethink your system. It fails to take in acccunt nuclear nations rebuying to 1k infra, nor value of infra, nor the inherent advantage any sane attacker has For exmaple my ususal method of grabbing 6 4k ifnra nations and beating their faces down to 2-1.5k infra (Somewhere around 300 million damage) while sitting at 1k infra (at a maximum cost of 30 million provided they some how manage to ZI me daily) would count as a loss despite my doing literal orders of magnitude more damage. In the same, if less egregious vein, a 3k infra nations and a 4k ifnra nation both have roughly the same damage capacities. If the 3k infra nation gets attacked, he's guarenteed to loose under your definition provided the 4k infra nation has two brain cells to rub together. For that matter anyone in nuke range (bascily 3k infra or over, 2k later in the war) is pretty muched doomed to anarchy unless we REALLY out number the enemy,
  6. IIRC there's an installer for Ubuntu that makes it piss easy to dual boot it. It's probably not the OS causing memory errors provided you've got enough ram to run windows (Which you probably do) or and nothing unfortunate happened to your install. You'd also be better off asking on an actual tech support forum
  7. Zynga is so terrible, they're worth less than their total assets. Zynga is worth less than Zynga

  10. Not really surprising. Pigs can be vicious as **** and will eat anything they can get at. Staying still near a bunch of hungry pigs for any length of time is a Bad Idea.
  11. That's because people think deer and go "AHH YOU'RE EATING BAMBI!
  12. Not really. The worst aspects of factory farms aren't there because it's the only way to produce enough food in the given space, but rather to enable megacorporations to make the most money in the least space and the lowest overhead. Chickens can be farmed at around (relatively) happily at 2500 a hectacre. Thats every chicken in the world in just under 30k square miles. Roughly 0.1% of the habitable area of the earth (Possibly less surface area then I lost by rounding pi.) 55 times the area that would be used in current factory farms (0.8 square feet per bird) but far from undoable. A general cutting back in meat consumption would help as well. Not as if most of the world doesn't eat WAY too much anyways. Fun fact:. You can pull together a meal for 3 with a few cups of flour, left over mushrooms, leftover greens, a tin of lentils, 1 orange, a few pantry staples (assorted herbs and spices, olive oil, yeast mayo, etc) and do it in less than an hour.
  13. Streaky bacon is superior to back and side bacon when it's the good sort. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find good streaky bacon. Most specimens have way to much fat, cut way to thin, plumped with water and "smoked" in the sense they once were in the same room as a guy who knew another guy who had a smoker once... we swear. People then have a habit of cooking it down to the point it's less meat and more pork flavored sawdust and salt and well.
  14. \Writing the book jut means it got there first. Little things like 250 units, a hilarious unit limit (made an order of magnitude more hilarious by patches), maps something like 4 times the size of the next guy, Flying units that actually fly, no resource limit, Super weapons not being an I Win button, consequences to for failing an assault (wrecks can be converted back into mass so all those tanks you left infront of their base can be harvested.) weapons being actual objects within the game (Watching some sap of a bomber eat an artillery shell is always good for a giggle) and so on are what made TA so awesome. Course those are the small things. Best of all is the fact APM isn't king (40-50 is fine) and build order doesn't matter too much. The best player tends to win, not the twitchiest .
  15. Likely it will be a PC based RTS game that plays something like the bastard child of Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander and Sins of a Solar Empire. TA is the gold standard for RTS games (Yea you heard me right Starcraft fans. Suck it) and this scales up the battle field quite a bit. It is a good thing

  18. You're not using a SSD for primary storage on that budget. 120 GBs run for over 100 dollars, 200GB+ tends to be over $300. You don't want to know what it costs for anything near a terabyte.
  19. £=/=$ >_> It'll be something like 630 GPB, which well out of his price range is not unreasonably so. And yea as powerful as that is a lower battery life is to be expected. The one you linked isn't bad specs wise, but if it gets more then 3 hours of life under reasonable use I'll be shocked.
  20. Unless he gets very lucky anything under $700 with a dedicated card will have all kinds of other issues. If nothing else the battery will be a PoS, with a 4-5 hour life at best (A lithium ion battery will lose something between 15%-30% capacity a year depending on usage so he'll be looking at replacing it at least twice over 4 years.) The card itself wont exactly be high end and mobile graphics cards aren't easily found, don't come cheap and dedicated doesn't mean they haven't soldered the thing to the mobo or that the mobo doesn't use proprietary connections. Even then they probably stuck the cheapest PSU they could find in it. Also a good chance the CPU will be a sub 2 Ghz dual core which wont be worth **** in a couple years anyways. Edit: If the wants something to last in excess of 4 years he's looking at something like this http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230455 though even with an 8 cell battery I doubt it will do more then 5 hours. Only just outside of his price range at that.
  21. So long the computer comes with a reasonable amount of RAM an integrated graphics card will suit his needs just fine. The only one of those that aren't completely sad and over priced, and will ship to him is the IdeaPad U400. Even then the battery life on it is just sad(less then 4 hours), and a 14 inch 1,366x768 screen is nothing to write home about. The one blade linked it a little outside of his price range, but otherwise not half bad. Usb 3.0, The intel HD 4000 wont exactly be running things on ultra at 2560*1600, but should manage things like MW3 well enough, and promises 12 hours of battery life.
  22. Fair warning, MInecraft actually requires a decent GPU. So careful with the integrated intel chips, they can have rather large range of clock speeds.
  23. http://img.waffleimages.com/d2947d74e8c6cac8b5328cc44dc7b8f2d744c406/t/eve-online-learning-curve.jpg Sums it up pretty well. Great fun if you've the patience to get to the good stuff, otherwise it's a spreadsheet simulator you pay to play.
  24. Sure. Heck never said you could. It's the big dipper (Fist of the big dipper was the Japanese name, but got changed because well) You still haven't successfully placed Polaris btw
