Journey Back To The Battlestar - Game Over!

Journey Back To The Battlestar

Scenario:

Join Commander Obama and his merry crew as they prepare for the retirement of their creaky old Battlestar. Once the pride of the twelve colonies, this ship has since been flying around aimlessly during forty years of peace and is scheduled to be mothballed. What's that? Cylon attack? Must be a joke!

But it isn't.

Suddenly humanity has been wiped out, and there is precious little left. Galactica is the last of her kind, and suddenly humanity's best (and only) hope. Their rag-tag fleet of civilian ships are like children cowering under their mommy's skirt, and the cylons are approaching...

Just when you thought things couldn't get worse, they do. Obama and his XO - Colonel Tiny - have run out of whiskey (and if you've ever seen the way these two knock it back, that's very bad indeed). These men cannot function without their booze, and they start making irrational decisions. The next three things happen so quickly, you would be hard pressed to believe this was anything less than a 'recap montage' accompanied with the soundbyte "previously on battlestar galactica:"

1/ The whiskey runs out

2/ They find a planet covered in an alien version of barley

3/ They empty out Water Tank 3 and turn it into a still

4/ They dispatch a surveying party to go check out the grain

5/ A cylon battlefleet appears - possibly because they too are out of booze

Doing it's usual thing, Battlestar and her civilian minions jump to the next star system, leaving the surveying party to fend for themselves. The good news is, they have a jump drive and are now on their way towards Battlestar (of course, taking an unusually long round-about route so the episode can play out). The bad news is, by now we (the audience) have realized that some of the people on board are cylon assassins (human lookalike robots) and have decided to be as bold as possible when it comes to offing the party. How long will it be before the characters realize this, and realize this is a kill-or-be-killed situation?

Rules:

1/ Have fun

2/ This will be a simpler version of Mafia then the others on this board, but don't assume this will be stripped down. We will have some characters with abilities etc - so don't freak out, this isn't going to be boring.

3/ No talking to other players outside the game thread unless your Role PM states specifically that you can.

4/ Vote for a player to be lynched by using the NIFTY SPREADSHEET BELOW.

5/ Days/Nights will last probably less than 2 weeks/ 72 hours. I need to get a feel for the online activity, but I would like this to move quicker then slower (if possible).

6/ If there are 2 players with the same amount of at least half-majority votes at deadline, then I will lynch the one who reached that number of votes first.

7/ I can change, add, or edit rules as I see fit - I am awesome, after all. Jokes aside, this is a work in progress journey, so play nice with me okay?

8/ This is a set location scenario. You're on a transport in transit - we have a bathroom that I'm not going to use in the scenario, as I don't deem it necessary, but apart from that assume the ship is a one room seating/sleeping area and connected cockpit.

9/ Questions or suggestions, ask!

Players:

1/ ScoutX

2/ Falzis

3/ Aquinas

4/ CanucksDynasty

5/ KevinH

6/ Electric Mango

7/ SinKon

8/ Tobias Greene

Finally....

THE NIFTY SPREADSHEET OF AWESOMENESS

The above link is to a spreadsheet which lists everyone still alive, and a column for each player. This is to save me the endless back and forth that I've seen here. Open the sheet, find the column at the top with your name, and then place an X in that column under who you want killed (list of candidates is on the left).

YOU SHOULD ALL HAVE PMs SITTING IN YOUR INBOX WITH CHARACTERS. LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY SNAGS.

I voted for him cuz he wanted to know if the game counts or not.

I found that to be a bit odd.

As if he had a larger stake in it to win.

Since it's supposed to harder for mafia to win...this is why I think he is mafia.

i can't stress this enough.

to KevinH and Tobias Greene, i implore you to vote for EM. he is cylon I'M sure of it. if he's not cylon, i'll post the next day in all CAPS and eat my words.

Vote: Falzis

... for being too sure of something when he shouldn't be so sure

Of all people KevinH, you should be able to read between the lines.

with the exception of Aquinas, all votes are in and it's going to be close. Aquinas can be the tie breaker, if he chooses, or a no-show/no-vote. We shall see, deadlines tonight midnight YOUR time, I shall crunch the numbers when I get to work tomorrow morning..... and post the next layer in our saga. Night is almost upon us......

Remember, people can change their votes if they want to. ;)

If you haven't already done so, make a policy for what happens if there's a tie, and STICK TO IT all through the game.

Unvote.

Vote: Electric Mango

Maybe Falzis could be so sure.

He'll get my vote tomorrow if we wrongly lynch Electric Mango.

Uh-huh, I know peeps can change their votes. Zogzog not stupid, Zogzog smart.

If there's a tie, whoever was voted for first gets it. Had KevinH not changed his vote, things were looking bad for Aquinas.

As it stands, Electric better do something drastic or his head's in the noose.

Alright, I am putting down the hammer on Electric Mango. I was explicit when I said if I don't here something constructive and convincing from him I would be quite suspicious. I do not intend to go back on my word. His posts have been quick and usually off the point. Sounds like, there are some other "between the lines" readings that I may be missing but, we'll see what the story is on those shortly.

VOTE: Electric Mango

Go Death scene!!

It's worthy to note that ScoutX and Tobias Greene both voted for Aquinas. One of them or both could be scum.

Aquinas could also be scum saving his own skin and ScoutX and Tobias Greene are misguided townies. We'll see.

As the Leeroy Jenkins slowly navigates the black darkness of space, it's crew have decided to think the unthinkable, plot the unplottable, and perform the unperformable. Yes, they have decided to crack open the last box of ice cream.

While sitting there, munching on their iced chocky bars, they ponder the meaning of existence (like you do) and of course what it means that there must be a traitor in their midst. While Falzis does most the talking, Electric Mango stares off into space - which is easy to do in this situation. Hell, look out any window and people can say "so-and-so is staring into space." Anyway. Was there a personal grudge against Sinkon, or was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Ideas fly, conversation builds, and why is Electric Mango so damn quiet?

If only they knew.

The story of Sinkon's and Electric Mango's love is a difficult story to tell, being one set in a time when humanity is so depleted that people no longer believe men should be together. No, using such language as 'the greater good' they want all the boys to find a nice girl and settle down, do the Mormon thing and have like 36 kids.... or die trying. And while this is a concept that a lot of men wouldn't mind trying (the f'ing yourself to death bit) - some people just wanted to be with their dream mate, even if that means they have to break a few rules.

But some rules cannot be broken - such as orders from Cylon Command. But we'll get to that later.

Back in our story, the icey deliciousness has now been finished, and Falzis has managed to sway the attention to Electric - even managing to have one of the crew change his mind. Mango, lost in his musings, doesn't see Falzis approach - nor hears the cheers of the crew. This is no longer a group of individuals, somehow this has become an angry mob lusting for some kind of retribution, which Mango somehow also misses. When the wooden swizzle stick (which previously held Falzis' chocky bar together) pierces Electric Mango's neck, the man can barely jump in surprise before five more plunge repeatedly into his body. In the order of things, death by swizzle is a pretty terrible way to go, and this occurrence is no exception. Slowly the jerks of pain diminish to nothing, and Tobias (chief rocket scientist on the Battlestar) announces he wants to try his new device. Conveniently, it only works on dead tissue, but he believes it will be able to identify cylon from human. Falzis nods, and Tobias whips out a meat thermometer, sticking the pin in Electric's glazed over eye.

"Pork or chicken?" He asks, laughing when everyone gives him a dull stare. "Just kidding. It takes a second to calibrate." A few moments later the device beeps, and he passes the tool around. The display is clear for everyone to read - 'CYLON.' They had killed scum!

IT IS NOW NIGHT. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING IN THIS THREAD UNTIL DAYBREAK.

Ever been in space? No? Well, then I'll bet you've never EATEN ICE CREAM IN SPACE!

Ha! Know what it does? No? Welllll.....

A scientific mystery for decades, many believe it can be akin to giving chocolate to a dog - but basically, in layman's terms, after eating ice cream IN SPACE, 99% of test subjects fall into a homicidal manic rage followed by an intense desire to take a nap. And this, dear readers, is what happened. And had Mango read THAT piece of the Human Instruction Manual, he might have been a little more wary and (perhaps) alive today.

Still caked with the blood of Cylon Mango (as he shall henceforth be known), our merry party dropped their swizzle sticks on the ground and engaged in a snoozin' group hug. But, as you may have figured out, Angry Ice Cream Coma is a human condition - and not a cylon one. While those around him slept, one reached over and violently twisted the neck of a man who was causing a lot of trouble - maybe a little TOO much trouble.

Yes, the humans opened their eyes to find our dear friend Falzis slain, his eyes popping out of his skull in an expression of surprise. Maybe at the last minute his eyes had opened, and focused on the killer. Was he surprised at who it was? I like to think so.

A muttering arose among the remaining, some muttering in disgust at all the blood and filth now littering this once-clean ship - don't forget Sinkon's head is still sitting in the corner. Others are muttering at this new development (and the proof a cylon is still aboard), and at least one man is muttering in utter confusion.

Day 2 commences!

January 13th was Day 1 open, and January 17th was the midnight close. Similarly, as today is the 18th, January 22 MIDNIGHT is the deadline for the lynch vote. The spreadsheet has been cleared for this next usage. Choose wisely. You have lost not only a good man, but a HU man (get it?).

1. ScoutX

2. Falzis - N1 - nk'd Human

3. Aquinas

4. CanucksDynasty

5. KevinH

6. Electric Mango - D1 lynched Cylon

7. SinKon - N0 - nk'd Human

8. Tobias Greene

D1 Votes

EM - CanucksDynasty, Falzis, KevinH, Aquinas

Aquinas - ScoutX, Tobias Greene,

Tobias Greene - EM

An 8 people game with 2 mafia.

2 dead townies and 1 dead mafia.

We are now left with 4 townies and 1 mafia.

At this point...I would consider myself (CD), KevinH and Aquinas as townies.

All of us voted for EM.

1. My was the first vote (suspecting his odd post).

2. KevinH voted for Falzis but then chose to believe in Falzis and then voted for EM.

3. Aquinas vote was the hammer vote (or it would have ended in a no-lynch for D1).

Remaining suspects are ScoutX and Tobias Greene.

To clarify - until KevinH changed his vote, Aquinas was in line for the noose as he had two votes and the earliest vote (ScoutX's). When KevinH jumped on the Mango bandwagon, the lynch switched to Mango, and then Aquinas jumped too (he was the last to vote).

I don't know if that's more or less what you said, but there was never a "no-lynch for D1" scenario.

Yes Aquinas had 2 votes but if he only had 2 votes...that would not have been a half-majority (as in rule #6). And if Aquinas did not vote for EM...EM would only have 3 votes. So wouldn't that have resulted in a no lynch for D1 since no one reached a half-majority?
I voted Tobias Green.

I'm guessing that a newer person killed Sinkon instead of a more veteran player.

Of course this could be a ploy by veterans or carry over from the other game but it's mostly all wifom at this stage.

also to make it official:

vote: Tobias Green

Since EM is Cylon and I sincerely doubt he would be "bussing" on D1 especially with only 2 mafia...I think ScoutX is the other mafia.

Vote: ScoutX

Firewall is preventing me from uploading the spreadsheet...can someone update the spreadsheet with my vote for ScoutX?

Thanks.

CD.

There were 7 players alive at the time so 4 votes would have been a majority. 2 votes is the half-majority.

As such, Aquinas was in line to get it, until KevinH changed his mind and it shifted to EM. KevinH was the nail in Cylon Mango's coffin.

You're right.

Good thing we got EM then.

CanucksDynasty seems to have done the math. I'll keep my eyes peeled, but for now...

Vote: Scoutx

At the time of the "hammer vote", EM's lynch was all but certain.

I won't give Aquinas the free pass as a townie just for that.
