Traitors on the Battlefront

posts are counted and tallied before the dead parties are removed. then their posts are removed and the percentages tallied and revealed.

So basically the % is whomever is left standing on D2.

If the town mislynches and the nightkill goes through then we should see a mafia count multiplied by (5 townies / 3 mafia).

That's assuming 7 townies and 3 mafia.

My vote on KevinH was a first random vote (ok...semi-random vote). Alasdair voted for KevinH (which he claims was a random vote). You voted KevinH so that he should vote for someone. And then ccabal86 voted for KevinH for his no-lynch stance (same as you). That put the count up to 4. Which would be only 2 votes away from a majority lynch. Therefore I unvoted.

I said I believed that one of the top 3 posters (or maybe now 5 since the spread between 3-5 has shrunk) is mafia. I have good reason to believe that KevinH is townie. So if he's townie...then you are most likely mafia.

And if you're mafia...I think your partners are: ccabal86 and Chaoshawk (mainly due to the sudden increase in posts after I suggested getting the update ASAP)

MOD: Is the battlefied counted after the dead parties are removed?

Just wondering cuz if townie mislynch and mafia gets in a nk...then the mafia count should be multipled by 5 / 3 (if we have 7 townies and 3 mafia).

Is that correct?

Well, it may look like I'm co-operating with molestar here, but I'm really not. I admit I'm not paying that much attention to the game as some of you are, but I get the general sentiment that AT LEAST 2 of our top posters are mafia. I'm also pretty sure you are pro-town, as you're putting too much effort into developing a strategy, tallying posts etc, to be a baddie. The same is not true (at least not on same level) for our other top 3 members, Mole and KevinH.

I just voted for KevinH because of his "no-lynch" vote. I believe no-lynching in this game is very counterproductive, as the mafia can pick our strongest posters off one by one, any may win much sooner then they would without the new system.

So, I suggest we get lynchin ASAP.

Even if his no-lynch stance is counter-productive...are you that convinced that he is scum?

Cuz if he's townie...that's 19 posts by KevinH (2nd most in the game) gone.

Alasdair just voted no-lynch...is he a suspect now?

Other than the no-lynch...what makes KevinH more acceptable to lynch than molestargazer?

Why is my KevinH vote scummy?

Mafia isn't a game of numbers.

"Other than the no-lynch"? Sure, you could always say "Apart from the case on KevinH, why KevinH?". Doesn't work like that.

Are you suggesting we don't lynch people with large post counts? Seriously?

Why is my KevinH vote scummy?Mafia isn't a game of numbers.

No it's about strategy.

I'm townie (believe me or not) and mafia needs to keep my post count in check...otherwise the Town may reach the magic number on the battlefield.

And like I have said...I have reason to believe KevinH is townie.

So you, being the next highest poster, are the logical choice.

Not saying that...so stop twisting my words.

I'm just questioning how sure he was of voting for KevinH and informing him the resulting consequences of his vote.

I've played plenty of games with KevinH to disregard his no-lynch vote.

He does it almost every game.

It's like a random vote on D1 for everyone else.

We can try to change his ways by voting him on D1 on every game...but what good will that be for the town if most games he's town?

Even if his no-lynch stance is counter-productive...are you that convinced that he is scum?

Alasdair just voted no-lynch as a placeholder. He'll likely change his opinion. But lynching a low-post count member wouldn't really benefit the town. Sure, we might not risk killing off a high post count townie, but then it's the mafia's turn who will do it themselves. Sure, we might win an extra round this way, but we'll ultimately lose.

I think we have to lynch either Molestar or KevinH. I just chose KevinH because I find his no-lynch stance a little suspicios, as I think it plays into the mafia's hand.

What good reason do you have? As far as I know he's always been like this and last time he was mafiaso with his no lynch strategy. I don't think you're mafia but you seem fixated on the belief KevinH is cleared and molestar's vote. I can think of many scenarios of mafia being a top poster, low poster or just in the median. I didn't like Alasadair's flop to join KevinH's no lynch nor has he really said much besides his wish not to be targeted by scum.

Vote Alasadair

Considering that I've fingered both of you with molestargazer as possible mafia...I'm not surprised as to why you don't understand how KevinH is townie.

IF you are really townie...I'd suggest going over KevinH posts.

To add to my post, I'm thinking along the lines of maybe our higher posters are more often townie than not and this is less risk for we're getting rid of the semi-inactive or non contributors which can lead to a low risk way of lowering the possible suspects.

I agree with the sentiment to post-pone the update request since we only get one a day. We should wait till near the end of the day before requesting it.

If we get the update up it will be less random and we can move on. I also don't know what double or triple posting will do since they won't count if they aren't relevant or helpful to the game.

I'll just say that we should get update now. There's not much else to discuss until we get that information.

BTW...this is why I'm suspecting you.

The first post you were saying let's wait.

The next post is a bit vague but seems to suggest getting the update asap.

The last post confirms that you want the update asap.

That's quite the 180 degrees there in just a couple of days.

And there are not alot of posts in between from other posters.

I noticed the game was a bit more active than I thought. Impatience strikes.

I noticed the game was a bit more active than I thought. Impatience strikes.

I can give that to you since there were games where I lacked the patience (see games that lasted months and 60+ pages).

But still...I'm suspicious of you.

Have you had a chance to read KevinH posts?

I did the same thing with the addendum that we should keep the posting ratios the same during the day (high-end posters remaining active, low-end posters remaining inactive), but since that got voted down, the next best thing to do is to request an update ASAP, while the postcounts are still somewhat representative.

TBH, I'm ok for voting on either KevinH or Mole. KevinH was a tad more suspicios to me because of his no-lynch stance. But to demostrate that I'm not fixated on one particular target:

Unvote

Vote: molestargazer

I'm happy as long as one of them are lynched. I will change my vote back to KevinH if a situation occurs where it's either him or an other player (who is not Molestar).

Your flip-flopping of votes has me questioning whether or not molestargazer is actually mafia or townie.

And quite frankly...I'd consider voting for you instead.

Have you read KevinH posts and can you tell my why I think he's townie?

KevinH does have a point in which we should target the low activity mafiaso or townies if we're doing well in rooting out the mafia. His posts reminded me of the importance of the battlefield posting and why Everyone should be active and posting to keep the odds balanced until we can see some voting or argumentative patterns from day to day. The other ideas consist of randomly voting and his a wait and see attitude actually works in this game depending on the townies being responsible and posting often enough. I think this reinforces my position to get rid of the inactive players however.

Still have my suspicons on you.

@Everyone else - what do you think of my thoughts on KevinH and my suspicions on mole/ccabal/chaos?

Probably because he wanted to request an update at almost the very beginning while they were actually showing something?

Well, flip-flopping votes is probably not how people usually play this game, and I understand if it might seem suspicious. However, this is my first game, so cut me some slack :P But! If I were mafia...I'd definately try to lay low and not draw attention to myself by changing votes so often. I'd probably throw out 1 vote near the end of the round, with some moderate reasoning.

On the contrary...KevinH suggested getting the update closer to deadline.

I was the one who wanted it asap.

Yes it's your first game and you have some good posts.

I'm normally reluctant to lynch a newbie so as not to turn them off the game.

Part of the reason why I haven't switched my vote to you yet.

But I am still suspicious of you.

And you haven't found the reason why I think KevinH is townie (like me).

Could I be wrong...sure...I'm not infallable.

I'm normally reluctant to lynch a newbie so as not to turn them off the game.

Nice to be the exception last game. :awesome:

I'm not sure how to avoid your suspicions. It seems like last game I can not shake the feeling of uneasiness or uncertainty about myself. Oh well

No it's about strategy.

And like I have said...I have reason to believe KevinH is townie.

So you, being the next highest poster, are the logical choice.

- Never said I suspected you!

- Could you share those reasons with us for KevinH being town?

Got to say I disagree with your logic though. Without the midday battlefield update, you have no way of knowing whether the battlefield's swinging heavily towards town or otherwise. For all you know, scum are lurking and we're really pushing forward. It's easy for scum to WIFOM us into lynching townies (such as myself) by doing this.

I've played plenty of games with KevinH to disregard his no-lynch vote.

I understand where you're coming from.

However. It's an anti-town strategy, it's scummy, so I'm voting for it.

Why do you need to demonstrate that you're not fixated? Finding someone you think is scummy and persuing them is a good thing, as long as it's not overdone.

Have you considered anyone else? Why only us 2?

Still have my suspicons on you.

@Everyone else - what do you think of my thoughts on KevinH and my suspicions on mole/ccabal/chaos?

Kevin is kevin wether he is town/mafia he seems to like the no lynch staretgy and every game its the same , so it is hard to tell which card he is trully playing

Mole i think is playing the game best he can but he has some good points like this

For all you know, scum are lurking and we're really pushing forward. It's easy for scum to WIFOM us into lynching townies (such as myself) by doing this.

Ccabal i think is trying to play but seems to be making assumptions where that is good or bad it is an assumption so who knows

chaos he did indeed do a flp flop as you say but i think it has to do with part impatience and part something else

I always play pro-town whether I'm town or not.

Assume:

CanucksDynasty 27

KevinH 19

molestargazer 13

Chaoshawk 10

ccabal86 10

Kaziocore 9

Nerau 6

Kasabian 5

Alasdair 5

Martino 4

Of 108 total votes, assume 75 are townie and 33 are scum.

The weighted total for the scum is 33*7/3=77

The battlefield is 49% townie.

If CD and I are townie and taken out by lynch and night-kill:

There are now 62 total votes -- 29 townie and 33 scum

The weighted total for the scum is 33*5/3=55

The battlefield is 35% townie.

If we no-lynch and CD is night-killed:

There are now 81 total votes -- 48 townie and 33 scum

The weighted total for the scum is 33*6/3=66

The battlefield is 42% townie.

If we lynch Martino (lowest post-count) and CD is night-killed:

There are now 77 total votes -- 44 townie and 33 scum

The weighted total for the scum is 33*5/3=55

The battlefield is 44% townie.

Lynching someone near the bottom will be a slight improvement over no-lynch at the expense of losing a third day.

We should also consider that there may be power roles with the town that we don't want to eliminate.

I think no-lynch is the optimal townie strategy.

I disagree. You speak about if one of our top townies dies and we don't lynch anyone we will not be anywhere close to finding the mafia and might as well just spam in order to get ahead of them. I think the best way to do this is take a low risk shot at getting a possible lurker mafia.
