What if it's so cryptic that no one notices?

Why would anyone want to tempt the MODs wrath?

Preston is acting innocent and asking logical questions like he did last game when he was scum. I'll be watching sir.

Also I just may vote no lynch just for my friend Kevin. We've played so many games together and he's never had his way yet. I am now ready for all of you to tell me how bad I suck for even bringing this up.

Heh, if I get this reaction then I must've played my hand better than I thought last game...

To refresh me on the concept; how does no-lynch benefit the town? I remember there was a discussion about it in the previous game, but I cant be arsed to go find it. I think it hinged upon whether the town gains information as time goes by from some sort of an investigative role - but we dont know if we HAVE any of those, in which case I'd think we would just be giving the mafia a free nightkill without a corresponding lynch. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'd rather get someone to reiterate the ACTUAL theory behind this.

The theory is that we're willing to bet that there is a cop.

If we lynch day 1, the odds are that we'll lynch a townie and that hurts.

The town will have more information tomorrow.

Basically this. Of if there's a failed nightkill, we can learn there may be a doc/protector of sorts.

I'm not particularly sure what to do at the moment, no lynching sounds nice since we have no idea what the roles are for the time being. I'll roll with it at least today.

I'm against No Lynch.
If you guys look here...

With Day One Lynch
DAY 1: 8 - 3 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 2: 6 - 3 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 3: 4 - 3 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 4: DEAD

With Day One No Lynch
DAY 1: 8 - 3 (wasted chance)
DAY 2: 7 - 3 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 3: 5 - 3 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 4: DEAD

Here the assumption is that there are 3 scum and that there are consecutive mislynches.
Both will end with a lose at day 4 but the big difference!
is that choosing the former than the latter gives us more chances of getting the scum.

Even though there might be a cop, we shouldn't rely to much on them.
One lucky night kill and the result is that we just wasted day one.

Also if you guys start the no lynch bandwagon (there's four already) I'd say more people
will join it and the result is that we have a useless vote information for today.
The consequence is that the scum could kill anyone without any suspicion falling to some person

Same happens if there are only 2 mafia members...

With Day One Lynch
DAY 1: 9 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 2: 7 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 3: 5 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 4: 3 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 5: DEAD

With Day One No Lynch
DAY 1: 9 - 2 (wasted chance)
DAY 2: 8 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 3: 6 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 4: 4 - 2 (chance to lynch scum)
DAY 5: DEAD

That is why I'll randomly VOTE: AKCPLUTO for no lynching D:

You guys should have a better reason than saying you only want to try KevinH's strategy
as your decisions right now could seriously affect the outcome of this game so minus points to you all.

Well, after reading what everyone wrote... I think I'm against no-lynch as well.

If we KNEW there was an investigative role, that'd be something - but as it stands, we'd also be at risk of having no real voting information if all the mafia bandwagon on no-lynch. No voting information means we might as well not have had a day, in which case it's like giving the mafia a free night-kill IF we really dont have a cop of some sort. If we DO no-lynch and there's actually an investigative role... how would the cop or whomever actually share that info without making themselves a target?

I was being silly about the "NO U" on nerau, but for the moment I'm leaning towards KevinH; is this REALLY something he does every game, scum or no?

Well, we don't KNOW if there's an investigator or not, but why not? We have no info regarding any of the roles...But based on what happens during the night we can still speculate. A failed nightkill could mean we have a doc or a bulletproof or something like that. If there's nothing out of the ordinary, that may hold some info as well.

If we go ahead and lynch a guy now, we might possibly be lynching a power role without even giving it a chance to operate.

And what are the chances of a failed nightkill here?
We will just have one less person tomorrow with no information whatsoever.
With already 5 votes for No Lynch, and no serious discussion whatsoever aside
from choosing No Lynch or Lynch and the random vote at the start of the game,
we don't know to whom people are linked to and stuff.

And you guys didn't seem to read if not comment on my previous post.
I'm thinking that the mafia are using KevinH's always No Lynch stance to further their goals...

@ Preston

Yes, Kevin does this every game. Well, almost every game, I think I've only seen him not do it one time and that was the last game we played.

Also in almost every single game there is a cop, a doc, and mafia. So the chances of this game having a cop is pretty good.

I personally have always gone for a lynch on Day 1 because I think the voting history is helpful in future days, however, I've played many mafia games and I'm doing it this way to try something different and to let KevinH test his way of doing things.

I never unvoted CD so to make everything 2 legit 2 quit...

The no lynch just plays into the mafia hands.
The chance of preventing a nightkill is about 1/11.

And then what info do we have to show for it?
1 dead townie and no voting information.

cuz it deserves 2 facepalms....

There have been a few games where nobody got lynched day 1. It wasn't because a majority agreed with me but because no specific player got enough votes to be lynched by the deadline. That's sort of useful because the townie doesn't get lynched but there are still votes to look back upon.

I do not advocate no-lynching the whole way through but on day 1, "nobody knows nothin'."

If we DO no-lynch and there's actually an investigative role... how would the cop or whomever actually share that info without making themselves a target?

I would like to re-ask this question, since it was never really addressed. There may be an 'understood' means by which cops perform in mafia games... but I dont know it, if so.

Again - at present I think that actually getting some vote info on the first day (that we can ALSO use when examining the results of the night kill!) outweighs POSSIBLY getting cop info that we may or may not be able to use effectively - especially if Mole decided to give us one of the modded cop roles.
