Attacks in Paris

(copied and pasted from Fox fire's thread on CN forums)

Two heavily armed men entered the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris's 11th District and opened fire inside, SPG police union spokesman Luc Poignant told CNN affiliate BFMTV.
He said the attack, close to Place de la Bastille, at least three police officers were injured. The Paris mayor's office said at least six people were wounded, according to BFMTV.
The French government raised the country's security alert system to its highest level Wednesday after the attack, according to French media.
Hollande and other senior government officials were due to arrive at the scene of the shooting, BFMTV said.
A witness who works in the office opposite the magazine's told BFMTV that he saw two hooded men, dressed in black, enter the building with Kalashnikov submachine guns.
"We then heard them open fire inside, with many shots," he told the channel. "We were all evacuated to the roof. After several minutes, the men fled, after having continued firing in the middle of the street."
Witnesses also spoke of seeing a rocket launcher, according to French media reports.
It's not yet clear what happened to the gunmen or whether they remain at large. There has also been no claim of responsibility.
The satirical magazine's premises have been under long-running police surveillance because of a potential threat from Islamist extremists.
The magazine's office was burned three years ago in response to its publication of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.
In November 2011, Charlie Hebdo's offices caught fire the day it was due to publish a cover making fun of Islamic law.

There we go again...will there ever be an end to all these people being killed?

NSFW/NSFL Probably a good idea not to watch this video

After watching that vid I'm in shock...these guys need to be arrested and obtain the most inhumane punishment one can think of. I usually don't like to combat violence but violence, but anyone that shares the views of these 3 deserves the same treatment. There is no place on this world for people like them.

small chance its IS, they would have made a video about it already >_>

Supposedly it was AQ not IS

yeah just saying, not enough mediacircus afterwards. AQ is plausible but no suicide nor bombs used (unlessperhaps some grenades for the bangs) and the perpetrators used bulletresistant jackets aswell.

lol, IS is saying they did it but the guys themselfes already claimed it for AQ in Yemen

ISs PR department is dropping the ball

Well after all, they have to keep their ratings up. They can't have AQ take all the credit, it's bad for their recruiting.

Yeah, I heard the same babble from others that I know to be morons as well...

Please competently explain to me why these people were killed without using any words that lead directly to Islam?

Being a mindless, gutless socialist like Hollande does not make it right, or protect him from these people.

They would kill him just as fast.

"Also, Lys is a FAN poster child."

I have no idea what this means...

You should leave IRON and join FAN is what it means. They'll like you.

If IRON doesn't like me they have not let me know it yet. I myself would get bored if everyone agreed with me all the time. I don't think I would be happy if I had to live every day without a Shah, Rhizo, ccabal, Fox Fire, Samus ect. ect. ect... the diversity makes life so much more interesting. But that's just me I could be wrong...

Thanks for the membership advice Ghux, but no one cares. So why don't you take a hike and take your trolling someplace else.

I like Lysistrata, and his epic sig, thank you very much.

Just came across this on the web and thought this is applicable to some people on this thread as well.

One Tweet from J.K. Rowling Perfectly Shuts Down Rupert Murdoch's Anti-Muslim Rhetoric

When an owner of most of the Mainstream media is a xenophobe, you know where all the bias and ignorance is emanating from. While some of the key posts in BBC are filled with self-admitted zionists. The outcome of all that selective freedom of speech and media is visible right here in this thread.

We all await, day to day, wall to wall coverage of Peshawar School attacks, ethnic cleansing of muslims in CAR and Burma etc, the terror attacks in Nigeria by Boko Haram and the terror attack in Yemen by AQ. While human suffering cannot be measured, all those incidents / on going incidents involved alot more human casualties, they atleast deserve the same level of coverage if 'balanced' reporting is being claimed and assumed by some.

The bottom line, and has always been different standards for self, different standards for others, atleast Lys kind of admited to the notion of might-is-right, damned be the all I'm-more-moral-than-you-facade. Personally I have no problem with that, might-is-right has always been the bottom line between state and non-state political factions from the very start. It's just amusing and hypocritical when someone tries to spin a web of morality around it.

I'm not an authority on religion. Like I said earlier, I grew up in Christian schools, not because I came from a religious family, but because they were private schools and I don't remember any private schools when I was a kid as being non-denominational. I went to military school, and one thing I know for sure is I went to one that was 50 miles away rather than the Catholic one that was 15 miles away. So my mother was absolutely against me going to a Catholic school.

Islam is either Sunni or Shiite, from my understanding. I don't know the difference and I really don't care, but I believe it's much like the difference between Catholic and Christian. Rowling in her little tweet says she's a Christian and would auto-excommunicate Rupert Murdoch. Excommunication is a Catholic thing... not a Christian thing. So I think she's just trying to be clever.

What worries me the most about your post is that it's more based on emotion and a desire the throw shit. Posting a tweet from a billionaire author of fantasy novels, and comparing her view of world affairs over a billionaire who has lived his entire life reporting on world affairs, is nieve at best. It's right up there with posting a tweet from Kim Kardashian about Charles Krauthammer and fawning over her astonishing intelligence.

Are you saying Chatholics and Christians are two different religions?

News 'reporting' does not makes one unbiased or gives them authority on mass generalistions, especially having a history of bigotry. You seem to have missed the pun completely. If Bush can be a President and Sarah Palin can run for VP, surely JK Rowling can share an insight.

Catholics buy into that whole excommunication thing... Christians do not. My British cousins know a lot about this stuff since their excommunication and the formation of the Church of England. King Henry VIII gave the Pope the finger and the world changed forever.

If Bush can be a President and Sarah Palin can run for VP, surely JK Rowling can share an insight.

I lol'ed. I didnt mind Bush that much though..but then if I were American I would probably vote Republican.

George W. Bush was Governor of Texas. Sarah Palin was Governor of Alaska. Qualified to be President? Yes...

J.K. Rowling is the author of Harry Potter. Lucky she found suckers to buy the books, and Hollywood ate it up. Opportunist? Yes...

Rupert Murdoch owner of Newscorp... Knows more about the world than J.K. Rowling? Yes...

basically speaking about "catholic" is someone following Rome, around here we call them fully "roman catholic". christianity is just the whole package of anything believing Christ.

Christianity <=> Islam

Catholic/Protestant <=> Sunni/Shiite (don't quote me on it but I think the pairing is right aswell, but its a different kind of division then in christianity so it isn't really true either :D)

If you ask me, who says something, should be a secondary matter. What actually is being said ought be a primary matter.
