The Russians are really in trouble. You always know how bad it is by how loud they rattle sabres.

I thought for sure things would get out of hand when they shot that airline down.

That was supplied to them by Russia. But yeah, the Russians probably didn't shoot, but I don't know what they expected from people whose very first thingy-to-do was to loot the still warm bodies for valuables.

Fox news is a Lie factory

That is subjective.  You would be surprised how many of the news stations are left leaning.  There are no true neutral news stations.  The mainstream media leans liberal.

News channels generally dont outright lie, (well, Faux sometimes do and get's ridiculed for it), but they always do have an agenda, left or right leaning or w/e.

never heared about the looting from corpses, the taking from random discarded property I did hear off, I also heared that most of that was taken by neighbours to safe-keep until proper authorities (read non-russians) came around :Dd

This is bullshit!! I mean what the fucking fuck!? I demand Obamas Nobel Peace Prize be revoked!

its not a good scenario. This could keep escalating. I'm not saying the Ukraine government is perfect, but Ukraine wants to govern itself. Its a matter of how Russia reacts now. Before this blew over once, I was hearing stuff of Russians fighter jets near the state of California (Over the ocean). I remember reading russia claiming it was a training scenario.

Russia is constantly buzzing our airspace to see how close they can get before a few fighters show up to escort them back. That's not anything new.

Atleast that's what they think. Imagine, suddenly a democratically elected neutral Mexican govt is over thrown and a new Anti-American and Pro-Russian govt is put in place with troops being deployed at border and armed by the Russians with occasional rockets falling on American side of the border. I think the congress will flip over itself several times and then go in guns blazing and while they're at it, might as well expand the California.

The thought of another Mexican American war just entered my mind. The last one lasted 3 days, how long would this one last?

I doubt any longer, probably shorter and that goes for pretty much any other country as far as conventional armies fighting it out is concerned IMO. US is pretty much leagues ahead of anyone else and will run circles around any nation state(s) if 1 v 1 open conventional warfare is concerned. I strongly beleive even if you line up the next 3-5 or 10 most powerful countries together, US will still run through them probably within a week, no questions asked if it's at max deployment. It's brilliant and worthy of admiration in it's own right, being a big fan of millitary hardware, it's simply amazing. Tho, as we all know, Occupation is a completely different ball-game.

-

I guess Putin's taken a page out (to certain extent, not completely) of the Texas take-over by US as far as Eastern Ukraine and Crimea are concerned.

I really don't think so. Even our own defense department has said they cannot and will not fight a war against Russia near their own borders. The only thing that puts us ahead of everyone else is our Navy and air power. China has already overcome the navy issue with their ASBM's and Russia has more land based weapons than the US and Britain combined. Much of it may be older, but a lot of it's modern and they know how to make it effective. Russia isn't new to war or anything. I highly doubt we could "run circles" around Russia. Even Iran alone was able to shoot down one of our top secret drones before anyone even knew it existed.

Russia has violated a sovereign nation and technically invaded the Ukraine.  The annexation that Russia performed on the crimea region of Ukraine could be likened to Hitler's annexation of Austria in the name of Lebensraum.  Russia's extensive aggression must be countered.  We cannot be a dog that is all bark and no bite.

I say let the Europeans deal with it, we have spent too much money being the worlds police.

I do not believe the U.S. should police the world.  However, I believe that the U.S. with her allies should stand up for those who cannot effectively stand up for themselves.  Russia is a socialist nation that is showing aggression.  If the world community continues to back down from Russia, then what deterrent is there for Russia from following an even more aggressive and dangerous path?  The U.S. should lead, not police.

On the other hand, we are pretty obligated to declare war on Russia right now, and go in full force thanks to that stupid treaty everyone signed with Ukraine (including Russia). I say fuck that treaty, TBH.

I agree with everything Foxy said... including the Peace Prize thing. Don't underestimate Russia and their ability to wage war. They have proven time and again that technology can only get you so far. Ask Germany if they want to invade Russia again.

ok if anyone has really done there research about WW2 they would know that the only reason hitler didnt take the soviet union out is because he made a really dumb move and that was to decide "i want the city that bears stalins name" if he had done what he should have done which was continue on to moscow the soviet union would have been finished. The russians are still a force to be reckoned with but dont give them "that" much credit.

And the Soviet military at that time was also absolutely pathetic by almost any standard. Yet they kicked Germanys ass. Also, the whole reason Stalingrad was targeted is because the only other target would have been Moscow, which the Soviets were expecting, thus the outcome would have been almost identical. Stalingrad was also a more strategical target for various reasons. Moscow, Stalingrad, either choice would have produced the same battle. Also, they deserve more credit than any other participant in the entire war, by far.

The United States lost about 500,000 in WW2. The Soviet Union lost about 20,000,000 lives. Stalin would have beat Germany regardless by cutting off supply and shear numbers. The nuclear power of China is not what makes them powerful, it's the population.

Hitler lost because he failed to defeat England, therefore the United States had a base of operation to create a second front and poor little Adolf could not hold that off. The U.S. was way too late and should have come to help my English cousins much sooner. So sorry for that my British friends. Winston Churchill is on my list of great heroes.

Kiev violated the ceasefire the second they signed the treaty. The Ukranian military never pulled back it's artillery 30km away from Luhanks and donetsk territory, and too add insult too injury shelled the cities on a regular basis claiming they were targeting "Terrorist." The fact of the matter is their is an indigenous population in East Ukraine that supports the rebellion, otherwise a rebellion could not and would not exist.

As for the argument that there are Russian commandos and weapons in East Ukraine, I fail to see how this is relevant. General Hodges is in Ukraine Right now, the General of U.S. forces in Europe. We've also spent billions on the Ukrainian military and given them intelligence and things like night vision goggles. The west is contributing far more military aid to Kiev than Russia is too the rebels.

Another note, prior to the rebellion the West and East came to an agreement and signed a treaty that allowed Yanokovych to remain in power until democratic elections were held nine months later. The very next day a mob forced it's way in to the presidential property and forced Viktor to flee. The anti-Russian forces were never looking for a peaceful resolution and now they are paying the price. The west has not held up on any of it's promises, have made accusations that they themselves are guilty of, and call an indigenous population who has lived their for millennium that they do not have the right to choose who they are governed by.

Not trying to play devils advocate, but we (the US AND Russia) did sign an agreement to protect Ukraines sovereignty.

So legally speaking, the US is effectively obligated to bring our military to the table to defend Ukraine, whereas Russia is directly defying an agreement they signed.

But personally, that treaty means nothing to me and should have never been signed to begin with.

This war is driven by internal political and social-economic unrest. The argument goes two ways.
