@Finster, yes and no. To blame Bruxelles for all the bureaucracy issues an average UK citizen might face is missleading.
The exclusive competence of the EU islimited to the following:
-customs union
-the establishing of the competition rules necessary for the functioning of the internal market
-monetary policy for the member states whose currency is the euro
-conservation of marine biological resources under the common fisheries policy
-common commercial policy
-concluding international agreements (subject to certain conditions)
In all other areas where the EU 'interfers' comptences are shared with the Member States. Which still leaves a very large number of areas where the EU has zero comptence. Having that in mind the UK is a willing acomplice in any redundancy or substantial increase with respect to bureaucracy.
