Hey Preston, don't think I've played with you before.

I feel you're pretty spot on with your assessments for the most parts. AbT from what I've seen in previous games is fairly argumentative. Not sure if it's his playstyle for both town and scum games, because I've only seen him play as a town.
As far as why they'd target CoD. I honestly have been trying to figure that out this entire day. It makes no sense to me. That's the reason I feel they targeted him. It leaves us with no information. The votes Lego and Myrr put on him weren't convincing enough in my opinion to warrant a vote towards them. It's D1 after all. It makes me think scum have an experienced player in the mix who knows how to keep us confused.
FoS Rafay and Samus for that reason.

Samus probably wasn't killed D1 due to him constantly dying D1 in previous games. I don't think him not dying on D1 indicates he truly is scum, just that scum is either 1) new guys who don't know Samus has a lot of potential to change the course of the game or 2) pity towards Samus.

As for Lego, As AbT and I shortly tried to figure out on D1, there are 3 or 4 scum, depending on TW setup. You can cast a vote for anyone, but you only truly know what you are. Everyone is always a suspect.

Unvote.

Sister Midnight seems to be actively contributing (more than I feel I even am at this point.) Slightly moving towards town on her.

We're probably not going to get a lynch today and I strongly advise against any PR claiming today. So, at this point, I'm under the impression we hope scum miss the PRs, they get more chance to investigate and we can get into D3 with something more than we have now.

@Legoboy, As both SM and Finster have commented you can FOS/suspect as many people as you wish at any time.

And yes SM, I do tend to be a tad bit verbose - only way to get all the thoughts out of my head, so there's room to put more thoughts in! However quick responses like this can work for when there are only a few intervening posts to examine.

As a tangent/addendum however: I note that Mazuurek seems fairly active in Discord chat. I'm still curious if anyone has seen him actually reading this thread to directly lurk, but purely inactive he is not. It does not make him automatically scum, but does rub me the wrong way.

-Preston

I wasn't criticizing, I was observing and admiring, I tend to do that when you are around. Also, you clearly understand the game very well and I'm benefitting from your text walls. The reason I asked if writing long posts is towny or scummy is that someone in a different game was convinced another player was town because of his long posts. As I said earlier, this is only my second full game, so I'm still feeling my way. I hope you don't mind my feeling around you a bit, just trying to get a handle on your style.

I really wish Samus and Maz would post because their silence is just an invitation to the FoS.

Nice to meet you as well KH - yeah, your initials and Kevin's do coincide, I'll just refer to KevinH by the full name for clarity.

If AbT is just trying to shake things up that's one thing, but it takes two to tango - iSoc is feeding back into AbT who isnt/wasnt letting it go. TBD how big of a deal that becomes.
Scum kill selection is always WIFOM - Wine In Front Of Me, aka trying to second-guess why someone did what they did knowing you'd try to second-guess them. We can speculate, but we have no concrete reasoning for any of it. All we can definitively say is who died and who was NOT targeted.

And agreed thus far about SM - she seems to be putting in a decent effort.

We're probably not going to get a lynch today and I strongly advise against any PR claiming today. So, at this point, I'm under the impression we hope scum miss the PRs, they get more chance to investigate and we can get into D3 with something more than we have now.

See, this is the part where I start to worry about what you said just now. Agree that PR claiming is not wise, but if we go *two* days without a lynch then we're just handing days to the scum aren't we...? Unless we know we've got something that will help by stalling for time, which at this point we do not.  What we have against Samus and Mazuurek is slim and open to interpretation, but if we give up on even pursuing it we lose not only the potential information from the lynch, but the information from how people react to pursuing it. I don't think another non-day is wise.

I really wish Samus and Maz would post because their silence is just an invitation to the FoS.

I didn't take it as negative criticism don't worry! To elaborate (because you seem to enjoy it? :D) Long posts dont inherently mean town - anyone can be longwinded. However if there's a lot of good analysis it suggests they are trying - People doing the right job of hunting for scum will show they're looking for subtext, and most importantly not remaining fully neutral the whole time. And it can be moderately hard to sustain a strong line of attack/analysis as scum without eventually contradicting yourself.

So yes, keep feeling things out and see what you can find :)

And we all hope Samus and Maz will speak up, and if they don't... we'll see how everything shakes out in the end.

Samus should be coming around. I don't believe there is a need to vote for him to make him show up. My main concern is for the people who were post happy on d1, and now won't even post. D2 is hard to analyze, and I know that not much talking can be done.  So my list goes like this, using TW post count

Wolfpacks 19 fluff posting, and voting out of the blue

Finster Baby 19 Helpful

Sister Midnight 19 active

Myrrdin Emrys 17- MIA

KevinH 16 Helpful

Ali bin Turban 16 - " argumentative"

King Hitler 14 Helpful

legoboyvdlp 10 active enough for a newbie

Samus 9 needs to become active

iSocialism 7 - myself

I will say though, I think that there is probably 4 scums all together, and with my thinking of around 1 in the NL wagon that would be a 1-5 chance of hitting scum. Outside the wagon would leave us 3 scums or a 3-9 chance of hitting scum. I came to this conclusion mostly by a gut feeling, back had a little "evidence" to back it up.

I'm not a fan of doing nothing and waiting for night actions to bring results (they may or may not). I rather poke people and see how they react - which can be a good source of material for further thinking... if I don't go overboard :P. Anyway, everything that brings up discussion is good in my eyes.

I've actually let ISoc go (no more questions in my #209) - he's not given definite signs that would make me think he's a scum and there's no point in running in circles. And that's our problem right now - there's not much to hold on...after 12 pages.

I agree with Preston about the need to vote. We can't let that day to slip through our fingers and end with nothing. We need those wagons to grow and see if there's any reaction. We have to many lurkers / inactives right now and we need to bring at least few of them back to life. That being said I'm actually joining ISoc on voting Wolfpack (I got exactly the same concerns as ISoc). Mazuurek is at least "consistent" with his lurking (or he might have just lost interest in this game), Samus though is disappointing so far (unless he's a scum and thinks he can slip through).

If that doesn't ever get him lynched or murdered, then I guess it is great strategy. "Oh I will always lurk in every game, they'll just write that off as my style, and I'll never have to worry about saying the wrong thing and getting either killed or lynched,". Nice, especially since no one will ever catch any of his tells. The only problem is that I imagine after playing a few games with him I'd vote to lynch him right off since he's an unpredictable wildcard, adding nothing useful to my detective work.

That's perfectly rational strategy (if ones doesn't care about ruining game experience for everyone else). If you can succeed with minimal effort, why try to do more?

That's why I've been advocating lynching known lurkers on D1 for some time now. Killing lurkers immediately would deter players from using this strategy. Can you imagine, in let's say 5 games time frame, people risking lurking if they see it's getting them killed before game even starts?

Preston has posted at least 2 more times than that. I won't bother with my own post count, but "active?" Nope, I'm very helpful.

With that said, to what extent do you weigh newbie contributions? I'm a newbie, and by newbie standards I declare myself very helpful. Finster, also a newbie, would qualify as super helpful. Not sure, but isn't Rhizo (the gorgeous golfer, with wood) also a newbie? Is Maz a newbie? Someone said there must be one scum who is a newb. If that's true, then we should be fingering myself, Lego, Finster, wolfpacks, Rhiz(?), and Maz (?). Have I missed any other newbies? I know I'm not scum, so removing the finger from myself leaves 5 newbs (assuming I'm correct in my newb accounting) who could be scum. Before I continue to finger these boys, is it pretty certain that TW would make 1 newb scum?

Fair point, I will keep that in mind for future games.

Interesting thought. I hadn't analyzed Wolf's posting pattern very well, but going back, I do see lots of fluff and randomness.

my head it swims with noises and voices, I can't understand the words that's being used it swirls and swirls like the dust and sand of the desert, what does deflection really mean, who is deflecting from what or whom, no wait it is starting to clear I can make out a letter, no wait I now see a name can it be true, it couldn't be over and over again the name appears. That's it I see it now.

If you read back I've called Finster for deflection before, this time I tried to do it in some sort of character, if I was doing it for that reason I would have vote isoc first, if that makes me the scummiest then so be it,

For continued dedication and tenacity, as a warrior and as military officer. Wolfpacks has been fighting both in this war and the last with complete abandon, he has also been pounding the pavement as Commanding Officer making sure every enemy has been covered.Without members like you IRON would be less of an alliance. Well done.

I see what you did there.

Angry because the truth is coming out? Pretty much a scum tell to vote for someone who just voted for you.

Current FOS list:

KevinH -- ''gut feeling'' as someone else put it.

Wolfpacks -- voting for someone voting on you is the scummiest thing you can do IMO

I still haven't seen this done. I don't think it's a scum tell, just a distraction piece, by both parties.

The weight of expectation weighs heavy on his heart, he feels a pain in his chest like a dagger has pierced him, He only listened to the voices, did they tell true, He could only act on what He knew or was told, his head is sore from the pounding of blood, is it anger passing through him, no it couldn't have been, they can't have seen the truth, well not this early surely.
